Cheerleaders of Knossos.

Synopsis :
The Cheerleaders of Knossos echoed down the labyrinths of
history , and their thunder persists undiminished into the trammels of the future
.
Discussion :
1.Cheerleading is firmly based on the mirror-neuron networks
of humans . http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mirror_neuron
Show-and-tell .
2.The idealised , fit , healthy , limber ,athletic , sexy
humans do their stuff in front of the old , arthritic ,sick , decrepit ,etc.
This automatically makes everyone feel better , as autonomic
systems try to follow what they see .
This is what mirror-neurons do . That old positive thinking
bit .
3.The young do it because they can as a celebration , the
old because they wish they could .
4.This positive feedback ensured the existence of this class
of cheerers .
Like bubbles under the carpet , they keep on popping up .
Tumblers , Jugglers , Athletes , Clowns , Musicians etc
graced the feasts and celebrations of every civilization known .
Even the dour Middle-ages .
5.The religious element .
Always present is a sense of thanksgiving and gratitude for
at least some grace and beauty . As well as optimism and cheer .
6.Form follows function .
Even separated by 4 000 years , you can see the
similarity between a Knossos Cheerleader and an American Cheerleader .
I very carefully express no opinion about the relative
intelligence of the bull and the football players .
Now , if they can get the bull to summersault over the
singing horse …
Taurokathapsically yours ,
Andre

Bull-leaping (also taurokathapsia, from Greek ταυροκαθάψια) is a motif
of Middle Bronze Age figurative art, notably of Minoan Crete,
but also found in Hittite Anatolia, the Levant, Bactria and
the Indus Valley.
The routines usually range anywhere from
one to three minutes, which may contain many components of tumbling, dance, jumps, cheers and stunting
