Prehistoric Flix with Sound

Andre Willers

21 Jan 2013

Synopsis :

Relax with a prehistoric flic crafted tens of thousands of years ago , with sound by !Click .

Discussion :

Some surprising avenues are explored .

1.The movies were crafted in 2D or the fancy ones in 3D . See Appendix I

2.The shielded lighting source was meant to flicker with the !click speaker's breath .

3.This was a direct commentary . Something like a silent movie with music and commentary .

4.The more sophisticated ones built in the sound into the rock . The !clicks reflected from pre-stressed rock patterns to give a meaningful sound track to those who could hear it (the aristocracy of !click speakers)

5.Visual wheels : as can be seen from Appendix I , was a cheap knock-off for the mass audience .

6. We would then expect equivalent sound-wheels . Sadly , the player would be a contraption of reeds ,wood etc making !click sounds . It is doubtful whether any survived , but the stone or bone soundwheels can be used to reconstruct them .

7.For this you would need a real !click speaker , like Pinuccio Sciola . See Appendix V .

These people were never plentiful , and near vanishment at present .

Ironically , he would be the closest to a natural King Europe has at the moment .

See Appendix IX

(The Matriarchy was a !click Civilization .)

8. As suspected from technological development in the 19th and 20th centuries , sound is more complicated than vision .

The talkie movies developed about 30 years after movies .

9. Why ?

Most of the heavy lifting in visuals is done by the retina and the hindbrain .

10.The ear does not have the equivalent of the retina in most humans . But !click speakers like Pinuccio Sciola (Appendix V) has .

An expansion of Broca's area reaching into the actual ear-volume (see pictures in Appendix V) .

11.A !click speaker should be able to echolocate with about the same accuracy as a bat (equivalent to a bit fuzzy vision)

See Appendix X .

Fishes and dolphins have finer discrimination (because water is denser than air) . The point is that the same genetic mechanisms are in the genome .

They need only to be switched on . Epigenetics and some other genetic tricks can and has done this .

From the domestication experiments on silver foxes , we can form an opinion of the time it would take selectively breed something like a !click speaker . Note that this implies some ruthless inbreeding and culling .

12. How long to breed !click speakers ?

Silver Foxes breed about once a year . It took about 40 sequential generations to get 70-80% tame foxes .

In human terms , this is 40x15 = 600 years. Not long in terms of the Matriarchate (see Appendix X) .

But it was a Hierarchical System (by definition) with low reserves . See Appendix XI .

xxx

See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Domesticated_silver_fox

Marked change was seen after only 7 generations (about 100 years in human terms)

" In the 10th generation, 18% of foxes were of the tamest category. It the 20th generation 35% were the tamest, and after 40 years the ratio increased to 70-80%. It was also established that genetics was responsible for 35% of tameness variation.[4]"

http://thedancingfarmer.com/2012/05/18/silver-fox-breeding-new-babies-and-using-new-adults/

"We have also worked at keeping more of our own girls and we can see our progress.  We recently had a few approach the age to breed for the first time (5 and half to 6 months for us) with weights easily at 10 pounds."

13. From Leader to Predator :

A distressing Mark III human tendency . You won't find it in hunter-gatherers .

I sincerely hope that the ability to designate prey is not an in-bred genetical trait .

Inherent in the Origins of Peace and War . See Appendix IX .

This was a self-limiting feedback factor to the breeding of !click-speakers . Too much of good thing to spread around .

Besides , they would then have to obey the 10% rule of predators .

And they were acutely aware of it . They were ,after all , the best genetic engineers the planet has produced until recently .

14.They promoted agriculture hoping to increase the prey population , thereby increasing their own numbers .

15.This backfired hideously because they underestimated climatic fluctuation . Especially the http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Younger_Dryas

"The Younger Dryas stadial, also referred to as the Big Freeze,[1] was a geologically brief (1,300 ± 70 years) period of cold climatic conditions and drought which occurred between approximately 12,800 and 11,500 years BP (before present).[2]"

This was followed by rapid warming , resulting in massive meltwater tsunami's from ice-locked lakes .

16 . This led to their fatal miscalculation : breaking the Toba-Compact . They designated other humans as prey .

17. Humans really, really object against being eaten . Even eugenics (like various programs in the 1920's and 1930's) , which involve prey-designation were decisively rejected

by force of arms in WWII . Basically , all the proponents were killed . The same thing that happened to the Matriarchs and their associated nobility , the !Click speakers .

Something like being an aristocrat in France in 1792 AD , but with no restoration in sight .

18. Memes and meme-antibodies .

Pheromones are one of the major carriers of prey-designation . It sets up the system to treat visual , auditory or gestural signals as privileged "command" channels .

Meme-antibodies from this period are still floating around . Pheromone masking (scents or deoderants) are routinely used by females to mask dominance (not to smell better) .

The meme-antibodies are triggered in males when females try to use prey-designation systems . These are not conscious systems . The women are probably not aware that they are trying to use a mechanism that entrains the male's prey-designation system .

The result is well-known . " Don't tell me what to do " . "Don't shout at me." Etc .

Displacement aggression. The male mind is trying to handle a threat identified by meme-antibodies by displacing it to the female .

See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Displacement_(psychology)

So , if hubby is being unreasonable , spray some deodorant around .

19. Ho-Ho-Ho !

Humans dance to their puppet masters !

The dominance pheromones are most probably produced by bacteria and viri on the skin .

So all the Matriarch's fancy breeding only resulted in tamer humans .

The actual Dominance Pheromones were produced by skin organisms , specifically underarm .

These were transmitted in communal baths . Hence the Patriarchal meme-antibodies reacting to baths (see Middle ages)

Harems are thus also breeding grounds for dominance skin organisms .

20 . Plants :

I have a horrible suspicion that plants crept into the system . They specialize in hijacking this sort of communication system in herbivores (see opium , cocaine , nicotine , sugar, etc) .

This has obvious relevance to Diabetes II .

The extra sugar on the skin causes bacteria that secrete pheromones that promote diabetes ie more sugar on the skin .

What to do ?

21 . The counter is deoderants .

Specifically aluminium particles

21.1 Wash with water only . Use a wash-cloth , especially under the arms . This traps "old"bacteria .

21.2 Then wash with soap . This will have effects as discussed in para 22 below . It randomizes the bacterial population .

21.2 Rinse .

21.3 Then spray with aluminium based deodorant . This puckers up the skin-orifices and starves the "old" bacteria you will introduce at the next step .

21.4 Then wipe with the same washing-cloth . This reseeds some bacteria , but at lower concentrations . The randomized population has an advantage .

21.5 Sterilize the washing cloth between usages (Jik) . You want to keep the generations of skin bacteria from getting out of control .

Drying out on a wash-cloth promotes evolutionary development of control systems that cause lots of sugar on the skin to survive the bad period of drought . The same reason you get fat .

This is good for the bacterium , but bad for you .

22 Deoderants .

"Overview

Human perspiration is largely odorless until it is fermented by bacteria that thrive in hot, humid environments. The human underarm is among the most consistently warm areas on the surface of the human body, and sweat glands provide moisture, which when excreted, has a vital cooling effect. When adult armpits are washed with alkaline pH soap, the skin loses its acid mantle (pH 4.5 - 6), raising the skin pH and disrupting the skin barrier.[9] As many bacteria thrive in this elevated pH environment,[10] this makes the skin susceptible to bacterial colonization.[10] The bacteria feed on the sweat from the apocrine glands and on dead skin and hair cells, releasing trans-3-Methyl-2-hexenoic acid in their waste, which is the primary cause of body odor.[11] Underarm hair wicks the moisture away from the skin and aids in keeping the skin dry enough to prevent or diminish bacterial colonization. The hair is less susceptible to bacterial growth and therefore is ideal for preventing the bacterial odor.[12] "

Soap randomizes skin bacteria . Only effective if re-infection is controlled .

Pheromones :

http://144.206.159.178/FT/944/18756/331608.pdf

"It is well known that in animal phylum volatile compounds that identify the body odor play a fundamental role

in regulating the social life, mainly with regard to sexual

communications and relationships through the use of particular volatile compounds called pheromones. Skin smells

unquestionably influence human behaviour as well"

23. Why get a divorce divorce ?

Tame your spouse .

Simply spray a deodorant .

And use the algorithm in para 21 above .

24. Formic Acid :

Be very , very careful . As a matter of fact , don't use it all in your deodorant .

Things can go badly in multicellular systems . You need to be at least Beth(4) .

Gee whiz!

Aren't old movies fun !

Never mind the clicking sound track .

With cartoon frescoes, shadow theatre and a rudimentary form of
animation, our ancestors knew how to bring their stories to life

THE small steel door in the mountainside is the same shade of green
as the lush vegetation surrounding us. Before we enter, my guide,
prehistorian Roberto Ontañón Peredo, asks if I would like him to
switch on the main lights. I decide to discover this place the way
my ancestors would have done, with just a small bubble of light. As
the door closes behind us, we flick on our flashlights and their
beams pick out the irregular walls of the El Castillo cave. What
strikes me first is the size of the cavern: I've been in churches
that could fit in here.

This cave, in northern Spain, was regularly visited by our
prehistoric ancestors for tens of thousands of years, and as I
follow Roberto inside, I see some of the extraordinary paintings
they left behind. Red deer, bison and mammoths hide in the shadows,
their outlines eerily materialising as the light catches the wall
before vanishing just as quickly. But impressive as these images
are, I am looking for something more dramatic - the world's oldest
shadow theatre.

Over the past few years, a small number of prehistorians have
claimed that cave dwellers pioneered a sort of show business.
According to their analyses, our ancestors told intricate stories
with their paintings, using visual trickery, 3D special effects and
a form of shadow puppetry to bring their narratives to life. More
impressive still, they may even have invented animation, using discs
of bone to create the illusion of motion, much like a modern flip
book.

Our story begins in the 1990s with Marc Azéma. A PhD student in
palaeoanthropology at the Aix-Marseille University, France, he was
surrounded by caves showing ancient illustrations of the animals
that once roamed the landscape outside. Studying the many works on
display, Azéma was intrigued by the fact that many of the images had
lots of versions of the same animal layered one on top of the other.
For instance, a horse painted at the La Marche cave in central
France has five heads, two tails and at least six forelegs; a goat's
body carved in a wall of the Abri du Colombier in south-west France,
meanwhile, sits atop myriad legs that blur beneath it.

These layered images could be taken for preliminary sketches - the
failed attempts before the real oeuvre took shape. But Azéma
suspected they were more than the hesitations of an artist. For the
next 15 years he pored over natural history publications and
veterinary textbooks - anything he could find that described in
detail the behaviour of the animals or their closest living
relatives. What [15]he found left little doubt in his mind. Far from
being failed attempts to represent the animal correctly, each
repeated limb and overlapping head was carefully executed to capture
the animal's movements and give a sense of motion to the artwork.

To prove his point, Azéma unpicked the overlying images and then ran
them in a loop. The resulting cartoons showed sophisticated
illustrations of each animal's actions. The horse at La Marche, for
example, pawed at the ground as it bowed and raised its head, and
flicked its tail. Likewise, the goat's blurred legs translate to
rapid movement.

Of course, the original audience would never have seen such
sophisticated animations, but to a modern viewer they demonstrate
the artists' skill in their attempts to capture motion. It shows,
Azéma says, "a desire, a will to represent life", which he believes
raises important questions about the purpose of the paintings.
People used to think that they [16]were purely symbolic, he says,
without narratives. "That's wrong. From the moment it was invented,
the image was there to tell stories."

To understand these artists' visions fully, however, you need to see
their work in the conditions in which they were originally viewed.
"All cave and rock art has been photographed and filmed wrongly,"
says Frederick Baker, a film-maker and archaeologist at the St
Pölten University of Applied Sciences in Austria. Most prehistorians
lit the cave paintings they were studying with modern lighting,
meaning that the murals are admired as a continuous frieze. But
equipped with just stone lamps burning animal fat, prehistoric
viewers would have seen the images unroll like sequential cartoon
panels. First, they might have discovered a scene showing a lion,
ears laid back on its head, watching its bison prey. As they moved
further into the cave, they would have come to the next scene, in
which the lion chases the bison. And so on. Telling stories like a
slide show, this was interactive graphic art on a grand scale.

Crucially, the painters used subtle tricks of the light to bring
these narratives to life. In the Cougnac cave in southern France,
for instance, a 25,000-year-old painting of a giant deer known as
megaloceros - now extinct - was aligned with the natural curves of
the wall's surface. As a result, the outline of its chest and throat
is created by a rounded volume, rendering the animal in 3D as light
passes over and casts a shadow beneath the throat. Besides bringing
depth to the painting, this might have created an opportunity to
animate it. French prehistorian and author Michel Lorblanchet has
argued that a flickering flame might have made the shadow contour of
the megaloceros's chest vibrate as if it were breathing.

Similarly, the body of a goat is painted above thin vertical ridges
of calcite that stick out of the wall. According to some
researchers, they stand in lieu of legs, and a flickering flame
would have created the illusion that they were moving.

Perhaps the most startling example of this artistry can be found in
the El Castillo cave that I am visiting in northern Spain. In a
chamber deep inside the mountain, we find a 3-metre-tall stalagmite,
on the base of which is a painting showing a bison standing upright.
A hazy charcoal outline forms a bowed head, two horns and a rounded
back, while the two hind legs take the form of a human ankle and
heel. The creature - thought to be a shaman dressed in a bison's
hide - almost looks as though it was caught in the midst of a dance.
It reminds me of Disney's unlikely hero in Beauty and the Beast.

My guide then moves the flashlight's beam up the stalagmite to its
summit. Suddenly, I am shrunk by the looming presence of an upright,
human-like beast whose dark shadow is cast on the cave's vast
ceiling. A stubby horn leads into the mound of its powerful
shoulders, then the outline drops vertically towards the floor. The
head is bowed, the nose square, and as the lamp moves, so does the
creature. It walks across the ceiling and, when Roberto casts the
light from the opposite side of the stalagmite, it seems to turn to
face the opposite direction.

Ancient animation

I had seen photos of the shadow beast before, but until this point I
was cynical about whether it would really seem to move. But I am now
convinced that whoever painted the bison-man was aware of its
shadow, and might even have created it by shaping the stalagmite's
peak. It would have been a terrifying sight 15,000 years ago, just
as it is today.

From all these lines of evidence, it is clear that prehistoric

artists were adept at evoking action and movement in the minds of
their viewers. Until a few years ago, no one would have believed
that our distant ancestors had gone beyond this to create an actual
moving picture. But Azéma's latest work seems to show just that,
offering evidence for a rudimentary form of animation.

In 2007, Florent Rivère, an artist who works in New York reproducing
prehistoric artefacts, rang Azéma in excitement to declare: "I've
found something". Rivère had reproduced a small disc of bone, carved
out of a cow's shoulder blade. Discovered in the Pyrenees in the
1940s, the original disc is roughly 15,000 years old and the size of
a large coin. On one side, a doe lies with limbs folded, while on
the other it is standing.

Such discs were previously thought to be decorations or buttons -
but Rivère [17]had a different view. When he ran a piece of string
made of tendon through the central hole, and spun the coin, the
effect was exactly the same as a modern-day flip book: the doe fell
and rose within a fraction of a second.

Azéma interprets a line on the doe's flank as an arrowhead and
suggests it has just been shot and is slipping to the ground, but
admits that this is open to interpretation. "What is clear," he
says, "is that the animal changes position." To achieve the effect,
the original artist must have aligned his drawings so that both
images match perfectly, ensuring that only the legs move when the
disc spins.

Azéma and Rivère have tested the theory on other coins. On one, a
mammoth blinks as it opens and closes its mouth. Another shows a
horse galloping. Working with limited materials, the artists were
clearly highly skilled, says Azéma. "They pushed the limits of what
they could produce."

There is much more work to do and more examples to find as we
uncover this extraordinary preface to the history of the motion
picture. According to the textbooks, the dawn of cinema broke on 28
December 1895 at the Grand Café in Paris, when Louis and Auguste
Lumière dimmed the lights, closed the shutters and held the first
ever movie screening. But standing in the enormous El Castillo cave,
it certainly seems plausible that our fascination with the moving
picture began much earlier - perhaps with the origin of art and
culture itself.

3D pictures, caveman style

Not all prehistoric art appeared deep in caves. Although the images
may be a bit weather-beaten, markings on open rock faces often show
the artists' extraordinary techniques to best advantage.

"When you stand and watch the light fall across them, you know the
experience would have been the same in the Copper Age, or the Iron
Age. The play of light that we observe today would have happened
each year back to 4000 BC," says Frederick Baker, an archaeologist
at the St Pölten University of Applied Sciences in Austria, who is
studying etchings in rocks at Valcamonica in the Italian Alps. Under
the flat light of the midday sun, these pitoti all but vanish into
the rock face. But catch them at dawn or dusk and you are in for a
treat as the figures jump out at the viewer, rendered in 3D by the
shadows of the etched grooves in the rock. The effect recalls the
techniques used to create the illusion of depth in trompe l'oeil
paintings.

Appendix II

The sound . Added by reflections from human !clicking . Not all humans can hear this equally well .

Click and Human Evolution .

Andre Willers

26 Aug 2009

Synopsis :

Human echolocation generated by tongue clicks led to enhanced dwelling , hunting , food gathering and information sharing techniques . Remnants are still around (San-bushmen)

Discussion :

See

http://www.worldaccessfortheblind.org

NewScientist 11 Apr 2009 p31 "Seeing with sound"

What echolocation can do :

1.Location

2.General shape and size

3.Nature

3.1 Density (solid vs sparse)

3.2 Reflection or absorption

This is integrated in the sensorium with visual data to create a world-picture .

Benefits :

  1. Caves become habitable (even in the absence of fire) .You can get around without injury . This is an important consideration without your handy pharmacy with antibiotics .
  2. Ripe fruit can be easily distinguished .
  3. Pack-hunting at night becomes possible . The click not only locates and identifies the prey , but also spooks it along . Fellow hunters are identifiable . Smaller predators are warned away .

Humans were and are formidable nocturnal predators . They did not huddle in caves , scared of the beasties outside . The beasties outside were scared of them . Look at your cities , today .

  4. Clicks can penetrate surface layers and densities of soil , for edible tubers .
  5. Tracking : sonic returns from clicks can very accurately define existence , age and type of tracks . Even in rock where no visual imprint would show compression . (See FlashSonar below)
  6. Information transmission : the whole system is much more efficient (ie higher survival rate) if the relationship between clicks and threats or goodies can be taught . Hence first languages were heavy on clicks . The technique would be inherent in the language (cf Marshall McLuhan : the medium is the message.)
  7. Cochleal training . Optimal results are obtained by speaking and training before paring of hearing-neurons in the mind and ear .
  8. Predator or prey visual camouflage is largely useless . It would be interesting to find the echo-stealth pattern of leopards (the only species that found homonids tasty.). Likely to be quite good even in the surviving sub-species . Hint to the military .
  9. Written transmissions: These would be very old , but in incised glyphs that can only be discerned by very a aurally sensitive priesthood . Hence the lack of soot smudges on the ceilings of old sacred caves . These would be rites of passages , showing that the initiate was a master of both aural and visual systems .
  10. Incised hieroglyphs would also be optimizated for click-reflection .
  11. Get an opinion of viewers in the audio spectrum . We do not even have words for this .
  12. The Pyramids : it has long been a puzzlement how the builders of the inside passages could see , since there was and still is not any soot on the ceilings . The answer is that they used echo-location (the Sacred Language of clicks) .
  13. See http://andreswhy.blogspot.com "LinearB and Philological Invariance"

Using Philological Invariance principles , and seeing that we are at the end of the process , we suspect strongly that that the ur-click language lies at the root of most Old Egyptian pronunciations .

Example:

Let us see "Jessica" , a known old word .

"dhe" – wet click with most of the forward tongue .

"s" – click with the tip of the tongue .

"ka" – click with the tip of the tongue moving backward and the jaw opening to make the "a" sound .

"Jessica" would sound nearly like "tic-tac-toe" , with a click for the "t" while opening the mouth saying it .

"x!ic-x!ac-x!oe" , where x! is a click of the tongue . Say it rapidly and an Old Egyptian would have understood you , even bowed , as it was a Royal Name in the old dynasties .

A San bushman would understand it as well .

Which is why old systems did not have vowels . The click sound could only be made with an associated vowel (basically , opening or closing of the jaw) . What we call syllabic , but rooted in the pronounciation and frequency of the click .

Bantu-language clicks .

The genetic evidence is that the Bantu population moved from northern Africa , down to the east coast past the equator , then across the continent to the south-western parts of south Africa . The general perceived wisdom is that they picked up the clicks in their language from san-slave women . But it seems much more likely that they always had it . San might have reinforced it , master-servant is a slippery concept at a low level of technology .

As the Sahara dried out , some went east to become the Egyptians , and some went South to become the Bantu . What is remarkable that both kept their identity under extreme external influences . The usual culprits are religion and culture (ie language) .

What use is a click language to a visually orientated , semi-agricultural society ?

Note that this hints that agriculture first evolved in the Sahara , during the desertification . As it got worse , groups moved east , south and west .

Weeds .

The women gossiping in click language while weeding can tell a weed much more efficiently than any other known system . Not only what is a weed , but when it will seed . The agricultural effort of subsistence agriculture is cut by at least a factor of ten

But without a click-language , they cannot tell you how they do it .

Chinese and other tonal languages .

Ur-languages would be tonal as clicks degenerate into tones .

But weed identification would still be paramount .

This influenced their written language . Chinese are basically Tibetan , and they are very sensitive to weeds . Being at the margins , they cannot tolerate any dissent from the collective .

Note sound systems on the steps of middle-american pyramids .

I have had about as much of humans that I can take .

Appendix III

Click , Lies , Hope and Sex .

Andre Willers

25 Oct 2009

Warning :

Pregnant women should not try Click languages .

Nobody is expert at the moment .

Do not do it .

It is like taking your big belly to the Casino and putting parts of your baby up for collateral on the slot machines .

Synopsis :

Click-languages , being both a mode of perception and a language , are not good at abstractions . In-Utero fetuses were programmed by Click languages (by it's very nature) . The transition between Click and non-Click languages will then tend to be very abrupt .

Discussion :

1.Lies and Abstractions :

Because Click is also a perception modality , it is difficult to lie using it . Likewise , abstractions are difficult , since an abstraction is a lie .

Abstraction : Carefully chosen parts of a set is substituted for the set . The Sketch represents the reality . This is difficult in Click .

2.Art .

Since Art is an abstraction , we can track the growth of non-click languages by the growth of art remnants (cave paintings , pottery , etc)

3.Sex .

The oldest lies :

"I love you"

"The cheque/dividend/return/vote-return is in the mail"

These are to obtain present advantage for promises of future quid-pro-quo behaviour .

Why are these so successful ?

Well , it is very difficult to make these statements in Click . Click will require a concrete reference . No abstractions , thank you .

The descendants of non-click languages will be more numerous , even beyond carrying capacity .

The females are left scurrying around to increase the food-supply . Hence agriculture .

Sigh . As usual , we have got it the wrong way around .

Populations did not increase because of agriculture . Population increased first because of lies about Love , then agriculture was invented to feed the children .

But why , after 30 000 years , are these lies still believed ?

Science and Technology :

Systematic investigations of "What If" statements requires a abstraction language to try out the lies . The successful results get incorporated in Perceived Wisdom . This has been going on for at least 30 000 years , and probably earlier . The main Human invention .

You try and domesticate a wild animal species , or breed higher yielding crops or even make cassava edible .

Hope:

Hope requires a fairly sophisticated abstraction machinery and time-projection . In other words , lies . Yet it has been driving human sophonts for at least 30 000 years .

The only game in town .

Because some of the "What If" things became true .

The lotteries are exact analogues : not the main prizes , but all the consolation prizes .

Even the also-rans can benefit .

And in evolutionary terms , it is not a zero-sum game .

The politicians do not sell a steak , they don't even sell the sizzle . They sell the hope of whiff of the fragrance of the sizzle .

But Hope trumps all .

Note that systems which has very significantly reduced the Hopes of grandchildren have all come to a sticky end . Eg French , British , Russian class systems .

The US class system is in the throes . What will emerge is an interesting guess .

Infanticide:

The only reliable method of number-control . Widely practiced in the remnants of click-speakers like the San (when click-birth control fails) . But if a lying technique like Hope is available , forget it . The mammalian evolutionary bonding is too tight , and will use every little loophole .

Click Birth Control :

Click involves programming phenes ( the epigenetic factors governing gene activation or inactivation) . A female could then spontaneously abort by using the correct sequence of tongue-clicks (suitably dressed up as ritual , of course) .

Language:

The growth and paring of neurons in the fetus brain is influenced by clicks transmitted through the amniotic fluid , even before birth (especially last trimester)

A mother speaking click will significantly biase neuronal connections in favour of click . Since Click is not good at abstractions , this explains a lot about the slow rate of change before non-click languages . And why lies are still the rage .

Fashions :

The lie of the week / month / year /century/etc.

Paradigm-shift is the term used to describe moving from one lie to another .

Note that the paradigm shift from Click to non-Click languages must have been very attractive to a woman . Not just the lies , but more children . And Hope .

Is Hope a lie ?

Yes and no .

Look around you . Billions of humans . Towering caves . Enough to eat and drink for most . Really fast horsies and big clubs . Paleolithic heaven .

We Hope that it will become better .

16 Feb 2011

Synopsis :

Ear-lobe formation denoted descent from click-capable nobility , especially in the degenerate phases .

Discussion :

After seeing the adaptation to click in the left earlobe in the "Mask of Agamemnon" , I had a look at Egyptian portraits .

The general pattern :

The sphinx

The sphinx's left earlobe has a distinct double whorl . This cannot be an accident .

How can this have been missed in at least 5 000 years without somebody wondering why ? (Measure it for yourself) .

The mind not only boggles , but also despairs .

Nobility are shown with bare ears . Real nobility with bare left ears , showing some sign of a double whorl (or double earlobe) .

One is reminded of the Cretan double-axe . It looks like it . The ancients were quite capable of such symbolism .And the maze of the Minotaur would be the whorls of the ear .

Commoners have the typical Egyptian hairstyle with the hair covering both ears .

Gods or goddesses are shown with double earlobes on the left side .

Tutankhamun's funerary mask shows distinct differences between the left and right ear . But one of the reasons he was rejected was that he did not have enough of a difference . Also , his funerary mask was not done by click-speaker .

How can we tell ?

Look at the "Mask of Agamemnon" . Sound waves bend around the head . A click-speaker would "see" the sides of the head from the frontal position . Rendering this in visual terms would look like flanges sticking out around the head , including ears . Exactly like the "Mask of Agamemnon" .

This is not seen in Tutankhamun's funerary mask .This was not done by a click speaker . There must have still been some around .But nobody wanted to do it .

Tutankhamun was not seen as noble , not because of his parentage (this did not play a major role) , but because he was not a click-speaker .

Interesting on p197 of "Hidden treasures of antiquity" , it shows a number of party –girls with tantalizing hints of earlobes sticking out from very carefull hairdressings , (teasers) as well as a harpist with the distinct double-earlobe on his right ear !

The harpist is bald (ie a priest) , a real , full-blooded click speaker .(about the time of Thutmosis IV) . It was a funeral , and he was fat and old . The caption describes him as blind , since his eyes are closed while playing . This would have made no difference to a click-speaker . Showing such a high-caste person in the company of good-time girls says a lot about him .

Go for it , whoever you were , are or will be .

I bet he did not worry about life-everlasting .

Note that priests had to shave all head-ear off to make click easier to hear , especially as the gene-structure got diluted . (See ben Cohen)

The mummies of Baharyia Oasis all had markedly double left-earlobes .Probably by training and stimulation . Poor slobs (something like foot-binding in China) .

Not to mention Easter Island and the Americas .

Notice the lack of upward earlobe extension . Humans deformed skulls , noses , and ears in all directions with gay abandon , but upward elongation of the earlobes (ie mimicking a double earlobe) is conspicuous by it's absence .

The rulers would have zapped any such forwardness . And the habit persisted .

We still do not find it today .

I wonder what would happen if somebody did that now ?

I think the old memes are still alive . It would be judged ne-kulturny .

Ideal Goth

The nearest humans got was elf-ears .

And Vulcans , of course .

Logically yours

Click and Ley-Lines

Andre Willers

21 May 2011

Synopsis:

Ley lines were acoustic waveguides built by very pragmatic neolithic click engineers .

The system included amplifiers , boosters and multiplexors .

Discussion :

Sound from stones :

Actually being done by a present by a Click master .

Listen to it : Google "Pino Sciola" . Many Utube examples .

Pinuccio Sciola is a Click-speaker .

He can literally hear rock sing .

See http://andreswhy.blogspot.com "Click ---" entries .2010 , 2011

Look at his left-hand ear in

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f0UA3Bt6NeI&feature=player_detailpage

It has the typical double-earlobe , but a very well-defined earlobe waveguides leading to what appears to be another earhole . His right-hand ear is not nearly as well developed .

The videos also shows him listening with the left ear held next to the stone .

While he could probably hear sub-vocalizations in his youth , without training he probably thought he slightly bonkers and wisely kept quiet .

By now , high-frequency hearing would have degenerated with age .

His genome should be declared a world-heritage site , or at least patented .

The Technology :

Sound-Generators :

Photo's of his rock sound generators are very informative :

Sound is mainly created by the elasticity of the rock . Grooving and fissures are essential features .

Compare this to megalithic remains . Many features attributed to weathering are the remains sound-generating features .

Of note is the Fissured Monolith . Essentially a sound-transformer . Step-down , step-up depending on relative frequencies , fine-tuned by grooving the rock .

Sound-Amplifiers

Circular structures captures faint sounds and amplifies them . This is a well-known effect (Whisper walls) . But note that the whisper heard is "louder" than the source .

The information is enhanced by the circular feedback wave-interference , as well as by the Cocktail-party effect in the human brain .

Speculation : not all humans are equally good at the Cocktail-party trick . The talented ones would have genes from ancestors who were selected (bred) to hear sensible signals from a chaotic background in Neolithic times (acolytes)

Sound Transmission Lines (Ley Lines)

The physics of this is well-understood .

1.The straighter the better.

2.No major obstructions , especially trees .

3.Boundary guides need not be contiguous .

That means trees or regular rock pylons can be used , dramatically cutting down on costs in treeless regions .

The typical leyline would have looked like an arched footpath , with a tunnel of trees around and over it . A Green Waveguide . Tended and cultured .

The infrastructure support formed villages around it . This is where the name comes from : villages close to the first-discovered ley lines had names ending in –ley or -ly .

Booster stations :

Likewise , look for booster stations near places with the following in their names :

Strong comes from a prehistoric Germanic *stranggaz (its immediateGermanic siblings have now died outbut German streng 'severe' is quite closely related). It went back ultimately to a base denoting 'stiffness' or'tautness', which also produced English string.

Garbh, Gar, Garry (Gaelic), rough, rugged, harsh.

Garth .

There should be circles of standing stones nearby , in Europe and England .

Receiver Sites :

Where signals ended up from all over , were decoded , decisions made and the resultant orders sent out back along the network .

A busy hub like Stone-henge would be more like an artificial capital like Washington DC or Brazilia in our terms . There would be at least two major circles of stone or wooden construction , with many smaller ones .

It was a technology , with the engineers having the inestimable advantage of directly hearing the signals .

Why ?

What was in for them ?

Sheer survival .

We think in human-relative terms of military and economic advantages in our fat , carefree civilization .

But 10 000 – 6 000 years ago , Europe was rocked by the end of the Ice-age .

They were battling for survival against nature and each other .

Besides earthquakes , tsunamis from broken ice-dams destroyed communities without warning , releasing floods of desperate survivors .

Coordination of warnings and resources was vital to anyone surviving .

This means communication .

The ley-lines were like telegraph lines during a time of total catastrophe ,

lasting for thousands of years .

Could our civilization do the same ?

Click and Spirals .

Andre Willers

26 Jan 2011

Synopsis :

Incised spirals has enhanced reflection of sound in a left-handed or right-handed fashion , depending on the spiral . The inverse of stealth characteristics beloved of present aircraft-manufacturers .

The human left-earlobe has an anti-clockwise spiral structure for incoming sound .

The human right-earlobe has an clockwise spiral structure for incoming sound .

Resonance from sound reflection from incised spiral structures indicates direction of spiral glyph in an enhanced fashion .

A Click-speaker can hear the directions and intensities of the reflections .

Discussion :

See all previous "Click" discussions in http://andreswhy.blogspot.com

See especially the extraordinary megalithic structure at "New Grange" in Ireland .

"The hidden treasures of antiquity" ISBN –10 : 88 540 0497 9 p42 .

Incised Spirals :

The ceiling and walls are covered with incised spirals of various sizes and rotations .

These are essentially maps and beacons at the same time .

An echo-locator (like a click-speaker) can immediately orientate himself . Note the total lack of soot .

Similar structures and spirals (circa 3400 BCE and earlier) can be seen all over Europe , Ukraine , Egypt and Malta .

Experimental verification :

1.Use an echo-locator human (there are many today)

  1. Incise spirals of various sizes , directions (ie left , right) , curve of spiral , depth of grooves in a sound-reflective material . The effect can be mathematically calculated or computer modeled . There are some nifty acoustic models around .
  2. Test effect on human in the Laboratory .
  3. Hard and soft clicks .

The problem is the nature of the !Click . Echo locators would use an abrupt tick of a stick or stone-on-stone type sound . Click-speakers would use a more slurring , chirp-like tongue-click . This would return more information .

The human auditory brain-cells compare and uses interference mechanisms between the two ears , and even inside the same ear .Very sensitive to intensity , direction and motion of the head . Down to single neuron-firing . That is a quantum level effect .

1.4 Alternatively , take the echo-locator human into a site like the New Grange Dolmen in Ireland and see what happens .

Theoretically , the incised spirals should "light up" in the echo-locator's sensorium , denoting left , right and intensity (height? , importance?)

Click Alphabet .

The Alphabet denotes an association with a symbol and a sound produced by normal human voice .

Similarly , we can deduce a !Click Alphabet .

But the symbols would look very different . Reflections of the !Click pulse would be of paramount importance . The physics would matter . The symbols cannot be arbitrary .

Wavefronts , distribution of reflectors , interference and capability of the hearer , etc would govern .

Note the present human loss off frequency sensitivity after age 25

(used in cellphones ) . Is this a recent mutation ? If so , how does it tie in ?

Degeneration :

The indications are that the Click alphabets used circa 3500 BC were dying out .

Hence the crude forms found in the "New Grange" dolmen .

Impact densification !Click alphabets should be found behind neolithic paintings .

A hyperlinked Neolithic commentary , as the densifications can be applied at different levels only detectible by persons of sufficient degrees of advancement . A neat way of keeping secrets .

Instrumentation :

1.Radiowave frequencies as used in airport "transparency" scanners should pick up underlying density structures .

2.These structures lie at various depths .

3.They might be fractured by passage of time .

Solution : chirp penetration frequencies . At each frequency change , use archaeological program that is used to fit broken potsherds into a whole . This should show whole symbols at every density level .

4. Repeat and have look .

5. Use decryption programs employed for intelligence and Mayan decipherment .

6. Quipu :

The alert reader would have noticed that Inca quipu are meant to be read by being strung on frame (like a harp) . A degeneration of click harmonics . This actually enables a much greater density of information than a straight map .

Where are the frames ?

The frame would have been similar to the Enigma machine . Decoding the quipu without it would be extremely difficult . Inca commanders were under strict orders to destroy any frames . Some might even have survived , but without specific knowledge they were useless .

This can be reverse-engineered today .

NSA would have no problem in reverse-engineering the frames and decoding quipu given these clues . It is both a physical referent (the frame) and then a simple code .

Remember , the guys who used these quipo codes were the sons of the nobility after about three years of varsity .

Yes , you have it right . The same as Western systems . Three years seems to be the max an agricultural level civilization can afford to spend on secondary elite education

Any idiot can and has used it , if he has the frame . It is not purely software .

Have fun .

Click and Time

Andre Willers

22 Feb 2010

"Time is the Simplest Thing" Clifford Simak

"So much to do , so little time." Cecil Rhodes

"Ask me anything except time ." Napoleon Bonaparte

Synopsis :

What separates the Tick from the Tock is an interval 13 to 30 milliseconds long .

Discussion :

See NewScientist 24 Oct 2009 p32 " The time machine inside your head"

See also previous posts on timing and assembling of sensoriums.

The significance:

The brain processes experiences in bundles about 13 to 30 milliseconds long .

If a datum is in bundle(1) , it is processed as being before data in bundle(2) .

The sensorium smooths it out so the data seems continuous .

Why the spread ?

Because the brains perception of time can speed up or slow down .

Easiest explained by a technique on how to do it .

John Weardon , an experimental psychologist at Keele University in UK , simply entrained subjects by making them listen to 10 seconds of fast clicks at 5 per second .

This resulted in an improvement of performance in tasks involving the CNS of between 10-20 percent . Very significant in competitive situations .(See "Quarterly Journal of Experimental Psychology" )

White noise had no similar effect .

What is going on ?

Even such a short entrainment squeezes the brain's handling of data into 1000/5=200 milliseconds brackets . Smaller than normal . The individual perceives time to be passing slower than normal , so other mental processes can take place .

The smallest boundary seems to 13 milliseconds , but boundaries up to 30 millisecs seem innate .

But this has to trained . The natural beat seems to be heartbeat . Once a second . The human system seems to hate expending more energy in time-binding than necessary . This leads us to suspect that 1/3 of 1000 millisecs =333 millisecs is a natural upper boundary for the necessary housekeeping tasks .

This is an awfully long time compared the minimum required .

Everybody has experienced this .

In a crisis , you can think faster .

Actually , your CNS is just processing time-bundles in smaller quanta .

Like a movie running in slower motion by snap-shotting at smaller intervals .

And , you can do it at will . But there is a price to pay in terms of neuro-transmitter fatigue .

Click .

Can one click the tongue at 5 times a second ?

Yes . The reflex speed of humans is roughly 1/10 of a second . Plenty of room .

"RRRRR" sound .

This is a very fast fibrillation (muted click) of the tongue . The slowest an individual "R" seems to be about 1 per second (I timed it) . 5 per second can be done in bursts .

So , 10 bursts of "RRRRR" should improve your sports performance in tennis ,hockey , golf etc by about 10-20 percent .

Schizophrenics :

A good portion (at least 1/3) of the brains various systems are devoted simply to keep the sensorium reasonably on track . If data get slotted into the wrong time-frames , it appears to the individual as if external forces control reality , or that he is powerless .

This has actually been duplicated by experiments with video games . A 200 millisec delay was set into a flight game . The brain learned to compensate . When the delay was removed , the brain perceived that the plane was being moved without perception of intent-to-move by the player . A typical schizophrenic experience . (Psychological Science ,vol 12,p532) .

Actual Reflex Speed :

I doubt if a knee-jerk type of reaction speed will be faster . But any signal that has to be processed or can be influenced by the CNS will be slowed down by the timing mechanism . And can be speeded up relative to competitors .

How fast are they really ?

There is no formal training in shortening the quantal data handling capability . There is a lot of anecdotal evidence in the unarmed combat sphere , after decades of training

But we can do it in 10 seconds . Literally .

Ten bursts of "RRRRR" sounds should reprogram your tiny little brain to process data at about 10-20 percent faster than your opponent who doesn't .

It is amusing to note that ethnic groups that have lots of rolling RRRRR's in their language (like the Russians and the French) fare better in sports like tennis.

Please note various war cries like the New Zealand "Haka" . It actually enhances performance significantly .

The inverse .

We should be able to stretch the personal time . This would definitely have an impact on sports like long-distance running . Hampering of running process (a-la-Noakes) would be lessened .

If you can't roar, purr .

!Click is a high-maintenance system , hence its collapse into normal language . See why below .

Click Baby

Andre Willers

27 Mar 2011

Synopsis :

A potential click-speaker (usually left double-earlobe) needs extra development phases .

Discussion

The genetic package is extreme richness in mirror-neuron networks , especially in the language centers of the brain , as well as the sensory apparatus (click perception)

Talents :

Language , mathematics (nearly equally) and music .

Dangers :

If the extra mirror neuronal networks are not soaked up by early usage (ie apoptosis of non-used linkages) , inappropriate linkages and sub-mentalities form . The system tries to survive by creating loops of phantom messages , preventing apoptosis .

(This is a purely neuron-level , Darwinnian activity)

For a click-speaker , Asperger's is a big danger below age 7 (my estimate: might be incorrect) .

Exaggerated sensitivity (neuroticism) is also possible .

Certain types of Obsessive–Compulsive behaviour will always be a danger .

Especially regarding mathematics and music , but not language .

Language , by definition , enforces multiple, rapid interaction with other people . Note the rapid . It is essential .

The complexity of language at baby stage is sufficient to soak up the brain-capability .

The more languages the better .

Training the Click-speaker .

From the above arguments , emphasis should be placed on languages , concomitant with hearing skills . Musical training will be subsumed into hearing skills .

The steps :

1.Train in sign language as early as possible .. Google "sign language babies" . Commercial services are available worldwide .

The timing needs some research .

Click speakers would not only start off richer in mirror-neuron networks , but keep on growing them long after norms (part of the package)

Prevention of bad linkages should then start as early as possible , but not pushed past capability as it develops .

2.Sound-training :

Percussion initially ,(drum , zylophone , vibraphone , flute ,etc) accompanied by tunes , but in a ratio of 1 to 2 to time spent on languages .

3.San language .

The only click language available at the moment.

Hear and see

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xKJ9mNRRYaY

4.Lesser click languages .

Xhosa , Zulu , etc .

5 . Sub-vocalization .

Quote :

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

See

library.thinkquest.org/C008243F/san_language.htm

//  this sign is used when writing San words with a click - similar to the sound made when urging a horse to move.

/  another click sound, like the ' tutting' sound made when expressing sympathy.

!    a tongue click which has the  sound of cork popping from a bottle.

    #    with one slash only, sounds like the sucking of a baby with tongue just behind the teeth.

Xxxxxxxxxxxxxx

End Quote

Sub-vocalizations can be denoted by a sucking sound , like

    #    with one slash only, sounds like the sucking of a baby with tongue just behind the teeth.

Click speakers can hear this .

It is a sucking click-sound in the larynx , that click-speakers' system has evolved to hear .

Ignorant Click-speakers run a serious risk of being mis-diagnosed as mentally ill .

"They hear voices , don't they ?" So they do .

Irony :

Science Fiction stories told of Telepaths persecuted because they could hear thoughts

Actual , click-telepaths were persecuted because they could never mature

Without training , and knowledge , a major advantage turns into despair .

It would be interesting to run click-perception tests on the inhabitants of the world's asylums . Some can still be rehabilitated .

Matriarchal return .

If , as speculated in

http://andreswhy.blogspot.com "High Matriarchs" Mar 2011

human genomes are expressing Click-speakers with increasing frequency , we would expect a corresponding rise in asylum inmates . Until the inmates become so numerous they vote themselves into power . A Nietszchean paradigm shift .

Are you nuts , or can you just hear better ?

Click-plugs on the upper ear lobe , anyone ?

Andre .

Some recent discoveries :

Appendix VIII

Click Update

Andre Willers

5 Mar 2012

Synopsis:

Clicks have been found in all living English languages , and suspected in all others .

Discussion :

See http://andreswhy.blogspot.com for Click related blogs from 2009 onward .

See ScientificAmerican Feb 2012 p 14 "Just a Click away" by A.Pycha

See "Journal of International Phonetic Association"

Work by Melissa Wright of Birmingham University , UK

She found clicks in complete conversations , indicating "anyway" or "so" , ie a bifurcation of meaning . Both in UK and American English .

In other words , a meta-indicator , organizing the spoken words in a way that cannot be confused with actual words .

This has immediate relevance to spoken computer commands .

Siri desperately needs this un-ambiguity .

We now find that spoken languages already have it built in .

Some conversions : (! indicates a click , usually elided from the sensorium)

Those old placers :

"um" = "!um"

"ah" = "!ah"

"eh" = "!eh"

"oh" = "!oh"

"ih" = "!ih"

are remnants of the old Click language .

Siri is a Smart system , and presumably has already learned this .

Congratulations to iPod users . They are resurrecting a totally dead language in a fashion that I have not even imagined .

A Siri-user can then deliberately develop !Click for meta-commands .

And Siri will learn them .

Now teach Siri in Neolithic caves or megalithic environments .

Siri will automatically resurrect an ancestral language fossil , written in the echoes of the stone .

Beautiful !

The first AI learning that humans could not have taught , even in principle .

An interesting aside :

People still using !Click sounds in a first language (eg !Xhosa) , noticeably uses "eh" and"ah"more frequently when speaking English than First language English speakers

Listen to any South African politician .

The hidden !click markers in English leads to confusion in translation in the language centers in the brain .

If Ms Wright's instruments could detect the subliminal !clicks , the brain also can .

There is another consequence .

It is nearly impossible to lie in !click . Thus , a speaker using !click sounds as a first language is at a distinct disadvantage in the lying game .

But this is also true for any English speaker .

LieDetector App

Any present Siri system can be trained to be a lie-detector . Steve Job's little farewell present .

I think it holds for tonal languages (eg Chinese) as well . Xhosa is a tonal language , and the !click meta-markers are there .

Liar App

An inevitable consequence of the LieDetection App . And we're off to the arms races .

All happening as we speak .

Isn't Presemt History exciting ?

Appendix IX

Origins of Peace and War II

Andre Willers

14 Nov 2012

"The Real Gates of Janus are closing"

Synopsis:

General War is becoming less prevalent as technology enables smart targeting of particular prey .

Discussion:

War results from the certain targets being designated as "prey" by social authorities .

See Appendix I for a further discussion . But this was written in 2007 . Things have changed . (A definition of the run-up into the Singularity . )

Prey are now designated by social media like Facebook and Twitter .

Very democratic and short-term .

But is there a long-term ?

Closing in on the Singularity , things change faster and faster . There is no long-term in any meaningful terms .

The Hysterical Focus :

Described in Appendix II . This is the mechanism whereby Prey is selected by the Social Organism . For examples see what happened to Gaddafi , Murdock , BBC etc . What is happening to Assad .

Notice there is no workable use of the Jingoism used before by ruling classes to divert attention into a General War . The fine detail of the social media makes this impossible .

What does this mean ?

It means that fighting does not cease , but it gets chopped up into smaller , manageable pieces , not large Wars .

These smaller pieces can be handled by the Ostrum Principles .

So , we are seeing a not so quiet revolution where everybody settles their differences on a small scale , and declines an invitation to a general conflagration .

The humans who actually create these dangerous toys decline to play any more .

xxxxx

An interesting aside :

The sociopathic switch will be selected against . A lot of sociopaths will suddenly become kind and caring . (It is a epigenetic switch , not DNA . The chemicals are air-borne and touch .) . Won't help much for psychopaths , but there might be some "spontaneous remission " for some schizophrenics .

Kindness is in the air .

You can already see it in the hierarchical chiefs beating their breasts and saying " Sorry"

Oh well . Lack of conscience works on a small scale as well . As long as the bastards do not get their hands on large levers of power .

Xxxxx

Summation :

"Plus la change"

The Matriarchy has won on Earth . But the off-Earth systems are the equivalent of the horse-nomads

And so it repeats .

I thought it would mercifully end with extinction of humans about 2060 AD , but space-nomads and the Matriarchy seems to be God's little joke .

Singularity only for some .

The Singularities will follow Riemann's Expansion , if only you knew the dimensions .

Dynamic tension , anyone ?

As the society goes into the Singularity , does it mean that you go into the mainstream or get washed up in one of the fractal tributaries ?

See parts of you on the other side

Fractally and partially yours

Appendix I

The Origins of War and Peace

Andre Willers

20 April 2007

( see previous discussions in http://andreswhy.blogspot.com)

Synopsis :

War is when a society sanctions other humans as prey .

If the other humans belong to another society , it is Classical War . If not , it is a Police Action .

Endless fun is had by playing around with the definitions of "human" (Nazis) , "society" (religions , political movements , criminals , etc) .

Discussion:

Humans have a hard-wired brain center that classifies something as "prey" . Once this switch has tripped and the fixation has taken place , it is extremely difficult to change.

Evolutionary , it derived from pack-behaviour .

Pack hunters need to identify the chosen prey which the pack-leader has designated . The pointers derive from the leader's social behaviour like pointing , eye-fixation , words etc .

Then they need to fixate on this prey to exclusion . (The nuts-and-bolts neuronal arrangement can be traced back to infant-imprinting.)

Successful packs are those that can focus the full pack on a particular prey , even if individual members of the pack might suffer injury or death .

A subsidiary hard-wired complex developed monitoring fellow-pack members . Any attack has to have some co-ordination . Call this Social-feeling .

Counting :

An iterative counting brain center that could count to three evolved .

(This center's precise location has been identified (via fMRI). Rendering it inoperative (via magnetic focused pulse) led to a normally very rare inability to gut-feel numbers . Like reading by consulting a child's primer every step .) Called anacalculus .

Us , Them ,Prey .

Each system is iteratively further broken down into threes , etc .

Three is necessary , since Us and Them is insufficient .

The Prey has to be identified , leading to Them being broken up into Them and Prey .

An intriguing corollary is that while the sets Us and Them may comprise many diverse elements , the Prey has to be constrained to one easily identified element . This explains why hate merchants like Hitler , the schoolyard bully , etc pick on specifics . Why neighbours who know each other kill neighbours in Uganda . Why the wife/husband is the most frequent unsanctioned homicidal victim .

There can only be One Prey .

(Apologies to the Highlander.)

Certain elements in martyr religions can be more easily understood this way .

Packs .

Packs are innate in any organism that cares for it's young .

Parent(s) + kids = pack .

Iterative congeries across time of genetic relationships leads to complicated social relationships ( see inheritance of dominance in monkeys ,etc)

Human ancestors underwent a prolonged period of being cursorial raptors , developing pack behaviour on a genetic and social level to a high degree . This was convergent evolution with dogs . It is no wonder then that dogs and humans understand each other at such a deep , non-verbal level .

Parts of humans are the same as dogs .

Query : Why the insult of calling somebody a dog , a cur , a son-of-a-bitch etc ?

Answer : The insult is to the human being addressed , expressing dominance , not to dogs . In many cases , the only cultural referent understood by both human parties were doggish loyalty , which translated as slavishness between enemies . Indeed , many humans expressed their loyalty as being dogs of their ruler .

The dogs of war :

An interesting bit of propaganda by the Condottierri to put a spin on their faithless conduct .

Cannibalism .

Let's face it , our ancestors ate each other until about 72 000 years ago .

The population density was low , making disease like kourou unlikely .

A large number of hominid evolutionary steps were driven by genetic deficiencies , necessitating obligate hunting . ( see previous discussions in http://andreswhy.blogspot.com)

Prey was everybody else except Us . This is the default Homonid setting .

MkI Homo Sapiens .

They evolved around 150 000 to 200 000 years ago .

The body was small by our standards , with little sexual dimorphism . The males were not much bigger , stronger or more aggressive than the females .

Great strength was not needed when hunting with weapons , snares and nets .

Indeed , big mass was selected against because of the significant higher energy needs that made starving to death much more likely during down-turns like droughts . Remember , there was little surplus and no way to store it .

Language was the main purview of the females . Gossiping and politics . The females were the central point of each group , together with the children . The males formed a cloud around this group . But arrangements were very loose and easy , as the living was easy .

Numbers were small , game was plentiful and other hominids made nice little packages of essential nutrients for these obligate hunters .

There is no culture as we even vaguely understand the term .

This was the end-line of development of pre-cultural homonins .

The default was that all not-Us were prey . ( Not War , not Peace , but anarchy)

MkII Homo Sapiens .

The Invention of Peace .

Then Toba happened . (72 000 BC )

The supervolcano in Indonesia caused the equivalent of a nuclear winter across the globe . Snow fell in equatorial regions and there was mass die-off of plants and their dependant animals .

The cold and hunger caused a concentration of numbers around some volcanic hotspots in the highlands of East Africa ( Remember , it snowed on the equator) . It did not happen all at once , so refugees fluxed into the survivable spots . In this crucible , human culture was invented . The numbers were small enough that certain existing epigenetic centers in the brain/body were forced evolved .

Remember , it took centuries for the land to recover .

From the genetic bottle-neck evidence , human numbers fell to between 3 000 and 10 000 . These are extinction levels

Cannibalistic diseases and inbreeding are particularly vicious in small , poorly nourished communities like these .

Co-operation and expansion of the gene-pool was essential .

The surviving communities were the ones where females took control and forced co-operation by designating non-prey .

In other words , the females ( probably led by some redoubtable dowager ) , invented Peace , and what's more , enforced it .

This was Humanity's greatest invention . The woman who did it deserves a Nobel prize for each year her Peace lasted .

Population was rigorously kept to sustainable levels by Matriarchal control of breeding lines and birthrates .

They did it so well that the Peace lasted about 60 000 years .

Note that the American and Australian continents where massive and quick animal extinctions took place , were populated from areas probably outside matriarchal control . Note also that the continent with the most extant animal megafauna (Africa) was where the matriarchy originated . Not too shabby ,eh?

One effect was thus the extreme taboo against cannibalism . This is an epigenetic inheritance ( ie data transmitted by mother to offspring , not in the DNA , but not cultural either .)

Inherent in this is that the Prey designation mechanism (now also epigenetic) came under social control . Elaborate rite-of-passage ceremonies evolved to certify an organism as human . (Failures were killed or expelled)

High on the list was Prey designation : hence the emphasis on starving candidates . The original rites featured humans as prey , and the candidate who could not control himself , failed .

This became putting off present gratification for future reward , what we think of as defining feature of cultural humans .

This also means the invention of religion , since the reward can be put off into the hereafter .

They also invented clothing , many uses of fire , hairdressing , makeup , jewelry , beads , gourmet cooking and the other things that make life worthwhile

Co-operating instead of hunting each other made trade and diversication of labour possible . Tools increased in sophistication from about 70 000 BC .

There was a significant human mutation in genes controlling brain growth . This has been very roughly dated as occurring about 40 000 – 50 000 years ago . The significance is not known , but it is speculated that it has to do with the growth of human culture .

The culture was explosively radiative . The advantages of a better and richer life through the material benefits sucked in even non-human homonins ( hence the gene mixing) . Anti-social elements were designated Prey and declared outlaw (this is what it means . The ultimate sanction then and now . Declared non-human , their only options were to die or to flee . )

When these MkII Humans exploded out of Africa , they did not kill the Neanderthals and Sinienses found in Europe and Asia . Their prey instincts were under social control .

Hence the interbreeding results now being found in the fossil record or the genetic evidence of the human flea .

( Some skeletons found indicate a mixture of Neanderthal and Homo Sapiens . Doubtlessly , more will be certain once the Neanderthal genome has been sequenced in about three years . More certain seems recent evidence of Siniens interbreeding , especially the genetic evidence that some species of human lice seemed to have crossed over back to Homo Sapiens from Siniens(Erectus) . The main-line Homo Sapiens fleas evolved into head and body lice after the invention of clothing after Toba .)

The other Sexes of Man

(see http://andreswhy.blogspot.com "The Sexes of Man")

An intriguing speculation is that various null-sexes and homosexes got an evolutionary push from the reduced fertility in crossbreeding between MkII Homo and other various cousins that were subsumed into the Homo gene-cultural pool . This would have had a major effect on the evolution of the meme of property and inheritance .

MkII Humans .

What did they look like ?

The closest survivors we have are the Bushmen .

The female is the basic unit . There is little sexual dimorphism . The male is slightly larger than the female , but not significantly better muscled or more aggressive . Weapons and intelligence are more important in hunting than strength .

Females are the cultural guardians and control the group , both epigenetically and culturally .

Their Culture:

In fertile regions , the females and children form a nucleus with a floating cloud of males . Females select males to have children , either from personal taste or by direction of the Matriarchy . As expected , about 90% of males do not have children , as the females all select the alpha-males . This creates tension .

A Matriarchy .

Overpopulation was kept under check by infanticide of weaklings (bushmen , greeks , romans) . The limits of population were precisely known after literally tens of thousands of years of hunter-gatherer interactions .

An extremely stable form of government .

MkIII Homo Sapiens .

As can be seen from the above , the matriarchs naturally thought in terms of selective breeding . Hence their invention of agriculture and domesticated animals . (The were the finest genetic engineers the planet has yet seen , including the present poseurs.)

Yet the invention of both held the seeds of their destruction .

Domestication of animals and agriculture (circa 10 000 years ago) went hand-in-hand . Even today , most agricultural produce go to feed animals .

The net effect was a population explosion .

The old methods of estimating the carrying capacity of the land did not work with this new-fangled agriculture . The large groups of feral males expelled into the borderlands during the last 60 000 years now also increased in numbers due to end of the Ice-Age . They could be hired by surplus agricultural produce and promise of breeding women .

The matriarchs now had physical locations they had to defend against marauding clouds of feral males or males from other villages . Down-turns ( drought , winters , etc) made it worse . The inexorable logic of evolution means that no matter how many times you succeed , only one failure is enough to destroy you .

Increasing populations had led to population centers (cities) , that traded . Trade on this scale unleashed what we would call globalization . Cheaper produce and manufactures from the peripheries destroyed the livelihood of local farmers and artisans . The resulting social unrest necessitated breeding warriors from the outside stock to keep control for the oligarchy of matriarchs and priestesses .

This happened over a period of about 6 000 years . ( A Matriarchy is a really , really stable form of government .)

The result was an arms-race . The matriarchs either deliberately , or as a desperation measure , bred males for aggression and strength . This was easy in a culture that already practiced infanticide and death-by-neglect . Nubile females were directed only to mate with the jocks . Breeding stock was imported or required as tribute from the Outlands ( cf remnants like Theseus , etc)

The social structure (what we would call the Bronze Age) slowly broke down .

The Matriarchs also designated the competing groups as prey to their warrior clouds . War had arrived ..

MkIII Homo Sapiens was the result .

There is marked sexual dimorphism . The male is significantly bigger , but also grossly overpowered . Sinews and bones break continually from the overbred power .

The biggest difference is in aggression and Social-feeling . (see above)

There is a positive feedback between Aggression and Fellow-feeling . A large group focusing on a prey is more successful if the elements of the group share values more intensely . All we need to add is that large numbers of combatants are more successful than small numbers (generally true for low-energy weapons) , and you have an Army and War .

Social-Feeling:

The increase in social-feeling leads to large hysterical-type religions , and (not too put too fine a point on it ) large mobs .

The other whammy :

Horses .

Villages on the edges of the Ukrainian Steppes domesticated horses . Over hundreds of years , young men drifted into the steppes . Matriarchs could not follow them , since a pregnant woman cannot ride . The result was the formation of the Sky Gods religions . The horsemen turned around and made the originating villages their fiefs . From this basis they exploited every weakness of the Matriarchs .

Patriarchal religion arises .

The big Crack.

The collapse of the Late Bronze Age civilization (see http://andreswhy.blogspot.com)

This was not an overnight affair , but the later stages makes "Apocalypto" look like a picnic .

It was a combination of factors :

The breakdown of the social systems led to continual internecine warfare between city-states (ie groups of Matriarchs) . The males were being force-bred to be bigger and more aggressive . Then a climate shift caused a series of prolonged droughts from about 6 000 to 4 000 BC , seriously increasing unrest . The destruction of Minoan sea-power due to tsunamis and the inability to rebuild their fleet because they had denuded all readily accessible timber was the last straw . It took about 200 years , but the resultant spasm of war , destruction and cannibalism destroyed the matriarchies around the Middle-East and the Mediterranean .

The horse patriarchs swept over the remains and stamped patriarchal memes very firmly on the twitching remains .

Some Matriarchal memes remained in the far-west (Britain) . Hence the Druids .

Egypt and some surviving cities in the middle-east retained underground matriarchal cults ( Isis , Cybele , Earth Mother , etc , etc)

The Romans destroyed the corrupted Druid remnants .

The Roman Catholic Church later incorporated the main elements of the surviving matriarchy in the Roman Empire in the female saints and the Virgin Mary . The rest were ruthlessly exterminated . (Literally)

The only remnants of the Matriarchy that had ruled for nearly 70 000 years were some nunneries . Even here they were meme controlled ( Brides of Christ : ie connected to a male .)

Islam did the same . Note that the nun's habit is identical with the chador .

It makes one wonder : why did the Council of Nicea decide on such a radical step ?

After all , the Roman Empire toward the end had little sex-discrimination . Constantinople had many empresses .

Why did the West suppress matriarchies ?

The suspicion arises that they did it because they felt threatened .

A meme structure like the Matriarchy that thinks in terms of 70 000 thousands of years and selective breeding of generations does not let a temporary hiatus of 5 000 years stop them . Indeed , elementary consideration would show that this could not have been the first or only reverse . Thus , they would have evolved mechanisms to survive what they consider temporary setbacks , together with some aggressive bounce-back mechanisms .

They probably tried to take over control of the Roman Catholic Church and the Western Empire . The Church destroyed most evidence , but there is Constantine's mother , a taverners daughter who came up with some serious money to hire troops .

The killer , though , was probably the shenanigans with Attila . The Western Court at the time was even a bigger nest of snakes than usual . This was also the last time women played a significant role . If Aetius had not stopped Attila , the West would probably be a matriarchy now .

The Patriarchal meme-set seems to be long-lasting , but scared .

Some examples :

The refusal to aid Constantinople in 1453 . Indeed , the whole split . The West feels more comfortable with a patriarchal Islam than a matriarchy . Even so , Turkey seems to have been hit by a double whammy from the women : Naksh , and the enfolding and vanishment of the Circassians circa 1820 .

For those not up to speed :

Naksh (the Beautiful ) was a cousin of Josephine Bonaparte . They both came from Martinique and both became Empresses . Naksh was captured by Barbary pirates , and given as a virgin present to the Sultan . She must have been something exceptional , since he made her his principal and only wife , and more importantly , allowed her to educate her son the heir . This guy broke (well ,exterminated) the Janisseries (no mean feat) . He embarked the Ottoman Empire on the route that led to Turkey of today being a secular Islamic state (the only one) .

The Circassians were a tribe in the Caucasian mountains that reputedly for thousands of years bred their women for beauty and then sold them . This is like saying Elizabeth Taylor or Madonna is a slave . As you can imagine , even if it was not a matriarchal scheme to start off with , it would not be soon before the women ran the scheme . Reputedly , their beauty approached super-image quality , to such an extent that they had to be veiled so as not to drive men mad with visions of unattainability .

Of course the other side of the coin is more likely . For 60 000 years the matriarchy had bred and perfected women that could freeze men's souls with their beauty and pheromones (cf Sirens , Circe , Gorgons , etc) . Brainy too . So the Circassians were breeding the beauty out , not in , to fit with modern society .

By 1820 they had to move , as the entire Caucasus mountains became very unsafe due to the Russian Empire expanding . Bullets or cannons do not care about beauty . The entire tribe moved to Constantinople and was not heard of again (of course) .

An interesting note here is that they probably had a copy of the Library of Constantinople . Very probably many of the originals . One of those ironies of history is that the Library everyone is looking for (including most of the Library of Alexandria) is right back where it started . A further ironic note is that Templars got obliterated mainly for having a copy . Contaminated by the Matriarchy . Fallout was the Albigensians and the Spanish Inquisition .

The question is : what on earth did the matriarchy do to provoke such an extreme response , one that has reverberated for thousands of years ? Even the memory of the deeds are gone (except maybe in some dusty archive) , but the emotions evoked still seem to be alive .

The only thing I can think of is a monstrous betrayal and perversion of the very bedrock of the Matriarchy's social contract : when things got bad , they designated their people they considered useless as Prey and ate them .

This is like the Pope cutting out some nice fat American tourists on St Peter's square and having a braai , with them as the guests of honour on the spit , all the while intoning that they should be honoured to serve .

Worse . Christianity has ritual cannibalism . No wonder this has reverberated down the ages . And it must have gone on for at least 200 years .

Shit . And I thought the high death rate in the Late Bronze age collapse was due to the quick conquest by the Sea Peoples . Instead , for hundreds of years the matriarchy and attendant nobles ate their people . The logic from their point is that the plebs should be honoured to feed their betters who know better and would be able to pull things together once the drought ends . And even when the drought ended , they could not stop . They were caught in the vested interests and , besides , it would take years before trade picked up and their shares paid a decent dividend .

The Sea Peoples were what we would call Liberators and Freedom Fighters . The capital letters are justified . Not even the Nazis or the Soviets ate the inmates of the camps , never mind put them in camps just for this purpose .

I always wondered how Rameses III could trust the Sea Peoples after the battle of the Nile to withdraw to southern Palestine . How could they exist if the area was so drought stricken ? But it wasn't . It could support a lesser number , but not the overpopulated cities before . He had to promise to cleanse his country as well .Something he was not averse to .

But besides that , the Sea Peoples were fighting to cleanse the world of a great evil . The last holdout was in Egypt . They would have kept coming . All of them had family that was eaten .

This monumental blunder took place after the invention of agriculture , when overpopulation got out of control . I presume the present Matriarchy is determined not to make the same mistake . Overpopulation is once again out of control .

A note to the Matriarchy :

Kindly do not attempt to dispose of the surplus biomass through your stomach . It did not work too well 5 000 years ago . This time you will get crispies all round . The contract of 72 000 years ago is that either all pull through , or none do . Got it ?

The crucial Patriarchal meme:

No woman shall be without a connection with some male .

It does not matter if the male is a father , brother , husband ,son ,etc .

The intention is to prevent the build-up of a purely female powerbase . (ie a Matriarchy)

It worked for about 5 000 years .

Why it broke down :

The hidden assumption:

A high death rate due to high female death rate in childbirth .

This assumption steadily diverged from reality since about 1850 , as asepsis and birth procedures progressed .

The result was that woman outlived men by about 7 years on average . Rich woman in the US inheriting all their husband's assets is a bigger percentage since the 1920's . The US is a matriarchy by now .

Some symptoms:

Some 66% of US families have only one parent , namely the mother .

Crime rates have increased . This is because clouds of males are forming ,without matriarchal systems to keep them in control . At the levels of aggression and

testosterone the females have bred into them , only one thing will work :

UltraMama

A discreet word with Marvel Comics or some games designer might be appropriate .

And please , not SuperMama . Every Mama is a SuperMama .

MkIV Homo Sapiens .

Around 1800 the New Model Homo Saps was rolled out .

The new model is emotionally cool and is inclined to compulsive behaviour .

It welcomes uberbabes , but vehemently rejects a role as appetizer or even main course .

Aggression is not impulsive , but compulsive .

This is epigenetic .

This means that he can only be reasoned with . Emotional pressure points like fear , hate , love will play no role in behaviour .

Once an aggressive course is determined , nothing will stop it except superior force or logic .

The development of industrial technology required people that can concentrate for hours at a time on technical things like lathes , mathematics , etc , etc . The Fellow-feeling center in the brain suddenly became the cannon-fodder center .

A previous pathology ( Autism spectrum ) was dusted off and selection pressures are busily selecting and modifying . Aspergers (which did not exist before , suddenly is a desirable condition . The rough edges are being filed off .

It also means that the political control both Patriarchies and Matriarchies had is evaporating . The levers are turning to mush under their fingers .

Both have failed . They think the solution is in killing off their constituents when things get tough . This is no longer a viable solution from their viewpoint , as they have already lost control of the technical aspects . They are the most likely ones to do the tumbrel dance when things go ape .

Hysterical Focus and Ostrum Commons

Andre Willers

20 Oct 2011

Synopsis :

Hysterical Foci spontaneously self-assemble if there are a critical number of Ostrum Commons Rules present .

There are Eight Ostrom Rules . General theory of Reserves suggest that any 1/3 of them (ie any 3 rules ) will lead to Self-assembly of an Hysterical Focus . Regardless of consequences .

Discussion :

1.Hysterical Focus :

See http://andreswhy.blogspot.com "Inside the ignition of an hysterical focus" Jun 2010

Humans are an hysterical species . This was turned into a powerful advantage .

It evolved from early monkey and ape stages .

The attention and energies of the whole troop is co-opted (ie involuntary) and co-ordinated onto one single subject . This happens in the amygdala and hippocampus .

Fast forward to humans , and you have fashion (a mild form) or an Hysterical Focus .

All the resources of the group is devoted to the problem in an involuntary fashion .

No human is immune .

Individual considerations are overridden at very deep levels .

The stuff Revolutions are made from .

A highly successful method of breaking false optimal peaks

2.Ostrum Commons :

The system formed a Commons , resolvable in three ways :

2.1Tragedy of the Commons (Communism) Cf Aral Sea

2.2Private ownership(Capitalism) Cf Economic crashes

2.3Ostrum Commons .

This lost out in competition because it is essentially a fractal Small-system , dependant on good communication . It kept bubbling up in peasant revolts , but could never self-cohere .

This changed with electronic communication systems like facebook , twitter, telephone ,etc .

Unstoppable now . Over a certain quantitive threshold , the network changes quantitively.

3.Self-Assembly :

Any three Ostrum rules present will result in the spontaneous self-assembly of the other Rules .

The Dear Reader can prove this himself/herself .(Hint:look at overlapping dimensionalities of the Rules)

Or they can cheat and look at http://andreswhy.blogspot.com "New Tools" Nov 2008 .

If there is a sufficient density of communication , an Hysterical Focus will form . And we are off to the races . A fertile field of future research .

4.Some interesting properties of Hysterical Foci :

4.1They don't stop . Once ignited , the Focus continues until the goals are met or the information links have been smashed (not possible today , even with a nuclear war). Hunkering down and waiting until it dies down does not work .

4.2There are no leaders initially . Decoying the structure into an hierarchical system has been an old counter . Not possible with a large number of alternate information pathways , or the awareness of Ostrum Rules .

4.3The individual members of the Hysterical Focus follow group rules , not self-interest .

Your old-fashioned Revolutionaries .

4.4Nobody is immune . It is as deep as your genes .

4.5Politicians , PR and advertising firms have become aware of the effect and are trying to harness it .

Sigh . It is a Beth(2) system , and it will always turn in their hands .

Hysterically yours

Andre

Appendix A

A powerful example :

China :

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Household-responsibility_system

History

Politicians did not initiate the household-responsibility system : local villagers developed it as an experiment later applied nationwide.

Allocating farmlands to individuals or to families rated as a crime during the Mao era in China, but the low-level productivity under collective farming and drought forced villagers ofXiaogangFengyang to do so in 1978. They implemented this system secretly, and signed a contract, "if any one of us is put to prison as a result, others shall be responsible for taking care of his children until they reach 18 years of age".

The secret experiment proved very successful. In 1979 similar experiments began inSichuan and Anhui provinces, both seeing dramatic increases in agricultural productivity.Deng Xiaoping openly praised these experiments in 1980, and the system has been adopted nationwide since 1981.

What is it like to be a fish?

Andre Willers

8 May 2008

For Egbert Louw Jr

What is it like to be bat?

There is a famous philosophical treatise by the philosopher Thomas Nagel titled : "What it is like to be a bat" . Google it for the article .

In the finest polysyllabic , philosophical tail-chasing style he states that experiencing a truly alien consciousness is impossible , but he also makes the statement that we can sneak up on it . This is what he is famous for .

The relevant quote :

"This should be regarded as a challenge to form new concepts and devise a new method—an objective phenomenology not dependent on empathy or the imagination. Though presumably it would not capture everything, its goal would be to describe, at least in part, the subjective character of experiences in a form comprehensible to beings incapable of having those experiences. "

To be able to do that , we have to have a mapping method relating the bat's sensorium to the human visual system . This is the other reason why he is famous . The bat is sufficiently alien , yet still a mammal . The underlying neurological structures are still mammalian . We can still make a map .

Echolocation:

A number of mammals have successfully adapted visual information processing brain-systems to handle echo-location . Dolphins , whales and bats are but the best known ones . This is no accident . There is a deep underlying neurological structure that makes the conversion between binocular vision and echo-location depth perception possible .

We can thus know that we can map the sensorium of a bat to an analogue of our visual system .

Evolution has already done it .

Chirping:

A pulse of sound composed of rapidly varying frequencies . By analysing the time-returns and absorption characteristics of the reflected chirp , information analogous to shape and colour can be inferred . Also used in human chirp-radars .

So , how does a bat see?

Like a myopic human with 95% vision , but with a Vector-sense of motion of objects inside the chirp cone .

He flies through a 30 metre visual bubble in which he can clearly see things and motion-curves of objects bigger than about 0.5 mm . Outside it , things are misty .

We know that they can discriminate half a mosquito length from about 10 metres . This is nearly as good as human vision . But objects in relative motion are highlighted in the chirp-cone .

This is the motion sense , which humans do not have : the alien bit . Like a vector arrow on a radar-screen . Humans have to calculate the vector of motion , bats perceive it directly . Since the refresh rate is directly proportional to the chirp-cone scanning rate , the bat perceives curved motion directly in his sensorium .

This is why they can catch insects on the fly .

The chirp-cone is flicked around in scanning cone , much like the saccades in the human eye-ball . Doubtlessly , there are some very sophisticated optimization scanning algorithms involved . The bat sees a seamless picture , like a human sees a seamless picture in his sensorium . All the low-level jittering is smoothed out in the sensorium .

Time-binding:

The alert reader will have noticed that bats have a better sense of time-binding than humans or monkeys . They can perceive trajectories directly .

Why are bats not then the dominant life-form on the planet ?

The same evolutionary trap that got birds : the atmosphere is not thick enough to sustain a flight-form with sufficient mass to have a large individual brain . If they come to land , they have to compete against superbly adapted land-predators . I have seen some videos of bats on foot actually running down small prey . But any decent cat or dog family member would soon put a stop to this .

There have been some speculations (Vernor Vinge is notable) of sound-linked communal minds . I see no inherent theoretical impossibility . But the brain has to be large enough to handle the essential data-linkages . This would require packing-protocols outside evolutionary boundaries . But , I suppose , some demented scientist could create intelligent bat-communal beings . They would out-compete any other mammals .

Bats are likely to survive an eco-catastrophe . (Time-binding goes deep . ) If surface dwelling niches are opened to them , they could very well evolve to smarter and better caretakers of the planet than humans .

What would it be like to be such a bat ?

Since they can directly perceive a trajectory , self-destructive behaviour would be much less likely .

"Catch the mosquito while diving into the ground" would be one of their favourite sayings .

More intelligent than humans in calculating consequences , but less creative .

Pak-protectors without the xenophobia .

Now we sneak up on the fishes .

First , look at dolphins , whales , etc . Their sensorium is similar to that of the bat . Their primary sense is the echo-location chirp . But water is different . A dolphin sees a three-dimensional sensorium of another water-animal . At first glance , the sensorium should be overwhelmed by too much information . There is no surface to a sonar scan of a water-filled animal. This is why the chirp is important .

Time and absorption differences to the various different frequencies in the chirp enables the dolphins sensorium to construct the "surface" of whatever is scanned .

It was thought that the dolphin saw a human in the water like we would see a glass model , with all the organs somehow magically delineated . The dolphin simply does not have the processing power to see three-dimensionally . What it does is use the tried and trusted surface-visual algorithms to do layering . It can see various sound-reflective layers . As far as a dolphin is concerned , a human is not a single entity , but a compendium of layers . But all the other living things in it's environment is like this

It can focus on various aspects .

The critical question is : what is the definition ? What is the smallest thing a dolphin can sense with its chirp ?

The evidence suggests about half a cm . There is a heavy energy cost to generate really high-frequency water pressure waves .It is not like sound waves . The minimum necessary would evolve . The sensorium of a dolphin would have significantly less definition than that of a bat . (Factor of 10)

Dolphin Sound Spectacles .

Since humans are so enamoured of dolphins , why not give them glasses?

Not for their eyes , for their sonar .

Uplift them .

Noise-nullification technology can be easily adapted to give a dolphin the resolution to see things at cellular level . Even a classical large lens of denser than water material will do the trick . The inverse can just as easily be done , to give them the capability of zapping tumours .

They are already rumoured to be beneficial to sick humans .

I would not be so sure about killer whales .

Or zygote manipulation .

I draw your attention to the unpredictable effects of giving spectacles to human populations .

The reason why dolphins et al do not communicate is that they cannot see us . They need glasses to focus .

Do humans have the courage to do this ?

Now for what it is like to be a fish .

Fish are not mammalian . Rather trite , but true . The primary sense organ of the fish is the pressure sense . A fish uses pressure to sense how far away it is from the surface of the water .

Near the shore:

So , to think like a fish , invert . Your upside down feet is treading on the surface of the water from the bottom . If the surface is choppy , think of walking over rough ground .

It costs the fish energy and effort to maintain an equal depth .

Where would you go ?

Where feeding and turbulence combines optimally . Two thirds away from the centre of a sloop and two thirds down at that point . (Values derived from Infinite Probe considerations)

If you think walking upside-down under the sea-surface is weird , you should try me on my better days .

Bottom dwellers cling to the sky .

Scent and electrical senses also play a role .

The fish "sees" an endlessly quaking surface under it , with the mists around it riven by channels of scent , with a false top of the thermocline .

Sharks examine things close by via electrical fields . So they see the close environment as twisting network of electrical fields .

A lemon with connected copper and zinc wire should make a fine shark lure .

What is it like to be a deep sea fish ?

Untrammelled freedom .

The densities of population in the deep sea used to be lower than survival levels . Continental shelves were used for risky spawning . That is until humans conveniently started melting the ice-caps , causing upwellings of nutrient rich waters along the oceanic trenches . You don't need shoals to ensure reproduction . Think like a fish , with about 400 million years of survival mechanisms .

Appendix XI

Hierarchical Complexification .

Andre Willers

20 Jan 2013

Synopsis :

Any hierarchical system must complexify , thus limiting the number of possible paths to survival .

Discussion :

1.Why "must" any hierarchical system complexify ?

1.1. Hierarchical systems evolve to handle scarcities .

1.2. Even if there is no scarcity , the hierarchy creates artificial scarcities to maintain it's structure .

History is full of examples .

Versailles .

The perfect example is Louis IV court at Versailles .

The Aristocrats were all rich , but they still complexified their environment by some very vicious intrigues to further their "advancement" , said advancement being notice of the King .

They created an artificial scarcity (the King has finite capacity) .

This structure also destroyed the society it sprung from , as the cost of complexity spiralled out of control .

Also see any Dole System , Social Welfare , University Tenure , Parliamentary Systems , Civil Service , etc ,etc .

1.3. Academia is a sad case .

They should have known better.

1.4. The General Hierarchical Complexification Process :

----

1.4.1. Start loop

1.4.2. Every newbie must pay his dues . ie knuckle down (note anthromorphic submission) .

1.4.3. Then the person can only make a mark by being more elaborate , conquer more territory , being more outrageous , discover new things , be original , but not too original .

1.4.4. Loop back to 1.4.1. above

----

There you have human history in an Algorithmic nutshell .

2.Organized Religions :

These are especially vulnerable to complexification .

See all those pyramids , tumuli , Stonehenges etc littering the landscape . They all started as a simple show of extra respect . But every succeeding generation had to complexify it until the Society collapsed under the strain .

Buddhist ruins are instructive . They did not spend too much on wars , yet Burma , Thailand , etc are littered with ruins

3.Abstract systems like Empires do the same . See Appendix I

4.How do you recognise an over-complexified system ?

The classical example is the Ptolemaic System . Epicycle on epicycle . See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Geocentric_model

A simple system is complexified out of recognition .

5.This is related to the concept of Paradigm Shift .

See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paradigm . This is a auto-illustration of the principle . The description on Wikipedia is overcomplexified .

Something simple gets complexified until it collapses . A new simple takes its place and the process repeats .

6.This post was triggered because I watched a Tai Chi Instruction video .

The self-interested complexifications of various parties through the centuries was painfully evident .

It was embarrassing to watch .

Is this the best we can do ?

7.Interestingly enough , not all Complexification is Bad .

From general error principles set out in Reserve Arguments See Appendix H , only about 2/3 are bad .

The problem is that we do not know which elements these are .

8. The body solves this problem by accelerated growth regions (cancer nodules , usually under control , but there is an occasional oops! . )

9.Societies hive off a similar type of thing . Greek polities(circa 400 BC) , Western Europe states (circa 1700 AD) , China(circa 1990 AD) .

10.Are we doomed ?

According to Tainter and Diamond we are (see Appendix I) .

But all humans are doomed . You are going to die sometime . But the possible contribution to knowledge is a Reserve in the System .

Like Sundays , Holidays , etc.

As long as the reserve is over 37% (See Appendix H) , only a traumatic external event (See Appendix B) can destroy the system .

11. What are human planetary Reserves ?

1.1 You have to factor in the Internet . It creates the Reserves , but they are Reserves-in-waiting , inhibited from expression by hierarchical complexification .

In other words there are lots of good ideas out there , but the Boss will not see them or they will not further his interests .

See http://www.internetworldstats.com/stats.htm

About 34% of humans have access to the internet . (about June 2012) .

But, notice the distribution . about half are in Asia .

Why ?

Because they are using Ostrum Systems to unlock value in hierarchical reserves . A very Neo- Capitalist thing to do . ( See Appendix Ostrum)

1.2 This changes everything . The problem now is too large reserves . Too many new ideas . Future Shock .

See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Future_Shock . It is the accountancy systems that have major problems with Future Shock (not humans) . They usually write down capital cost over 5 years . If the capital cost becomes obsolete before this , the system goes into shock . This model is now obsolete .

1.3 Re-evaluating General Reserve Systems :

2/3 of everything is crap . But 1/3 of2/3 are reserves that is not crap . So 2/3*1/3 = 0.222 is not crap on second iterations . This gives the well-known Pareto relationship .

The non-crap bit then becomes 0.2222 + 0.3333 =0.55555

So Pareto includes infinite processes .

What this means is that the human Reserve is 0.5555x0.34 = 0.18887.

The critical point is 0.37/0.5555 = 0.66667 of the population . (See Appendix H)

1.4 Phase Change :

When 2/3 of the planetary population has Internet Connection , a phase change occurs .

We are now at 34%

Growth is about 41 % (see http://articles.economictimes.indiatimes.com/2012-10-28/news/34780476_1_online-travel-user-base-internet-users )

1.5 The data is old . about 1.7 years from data point the critical point has been reached . Early 2013 .

1.6 The phase change has already occurred . (20/1/2013)

1.5 Hierarchical collapse :

See Moroccan reaction to hostage attempt .

This is not an outlier .

Expect a much harder approach as 2/3 of the population is connected .

This is built into the systems , not the humans .

12. A lot of yakkity-yak .

What does it mean ?

13. If you have a boss , it means you are in a hierarchical system This means that you are a slave .

14. The phase change .

A More than 67% of the planetary population connected to the Internet brings about a phase change ..

This is not a voluntary system . Not exactly democracy . A much older and deeper system .

Maybe you should have paid more attention to Quorum systems ?

15. What does this mean ?

It is like a watershed . Biological systems mediated by feedback systems now change from negative to positive .

Expect many spontaneous remissions .

A quorum of one , any one ?

Andre

"Societies collapse when their investments in social complexity and their "energy subsidies" reach a point of diminishing marginal returns. He recognizes collapse when a society rapidly sheds a significant portion of its complexity."

"For contrast, Jared Diamond's 2005 book, Collapse: How Societies Choose to Fail or Succeed, focuses on environmental mismanagement as a cause of collapse. Finally, Tainter musters modern statistics to show that marginal returns on investments in energy, education and technological innovation are diminishing today. The globalised modern world is subject to many of the same stresses that brought older societies to ruin.[6] "

Infinite Probes 2

Andre Willers

30 April 2008

http://andreswhy.blogspot.com "Infinite Probes'

From discussing this with various recipients , there seems to be a need for a simpler explanation . I thought I had explained it in the simplest fashion possible . The subject matter is inherently complex .

But , here goes .

How much must you save ?

If you save too little , a random fluctuation can wipe you out .

If you save too much , you lose opportunity costs . If you are in competition , this loss can be enough to lose the competition (ie you die)

Intuitively , you can realize there is an optimum level of saving .

Methods exist of calculating this optimum in very specific instances (ie portfolios of shares ,eg Kelly criteria , or tactics in war eg MiniMax ) .

The General Case

We need to hold a Reserve in case Something goes wrong . But we do not know what thing goes wrong .

Infinite Probes tries to answer the general case . What is really , really surprising is that a answer is possible .

The Infinite bit comes from using the mathematical expansion of the Definition of Eulers Constant e = ( 1 + 1/2! + 1/ 3! + … 1/n! + …)

Where n!= n*(n-1)*(n-2)*(n-3)*…*(1)

This approaches a constant , widely used in mathematics and physics .

(e = 2.718…) .

All we need is a system that can be subdivided indefinitely (to infinity) .

First , we divide by 1

Then 2

Then 3

Then 4

And so forth till infinity .

What is important is not that we do know what these divisions are , only that they are possible . We also do not know which one element goes wrong .

The other critical insight is that it is the relation between elements that is important . (Permutations) (The failure of an element in total isolation cannot affect the whole system by definition .)

We can count the number of relationships where there is failure of one element .

It is n! , where n is number of divisions where only one failure .

Multiple failures are handled by summing :

Our Reserve(R ) is divided by n to infinity and summed .

TotReserve= R*( 1 + 1/2! + 1/ 3! + … 1/n! + …)

TotReserve= R * e

To find the boundaries of our Reserve , we set TotReserve = Cost

Then

R = 1/e * Cost

R ~ 0.37 * Cost

What does this mean?

This method measures the upper boundary of the reserve needed to survive failures in any element of the Cost-Universe . Ie , internal fluctuations .

This is the surprising bit . Any society that keeps at least 37% reserves , can only be destroyed by something outside it's envelope . It is internally stable , no matter what .

Empires like the Ancient Egyptians , Romans , Chinese are possible , as long as there is no climactic fluctuation , new inventions , diseases ,etc . Rare events . Hence the technological stasis of old civilizations . The two are synonymous .

This is true at any scale (except quantal , by definition.) .

Individuals too . Humans can be seen as empires of noospheres .

The upper boundary does not take any double-counting into account . It is true for any system whatsoever .

A truly remarkable precise result from such general axioms .

The Lower Boundaries .

This is where it gets interesting .

Remember , we are just counting the number of ways in which permutations of one element can fail . We then sum them to get the effect of the failures of other elements

The easiest is the business that just starts and is not selling anything . It fails on n elements on every term . It's floor capital must then be

R=Cost/(1+e)

R=0.27*Cost

This is the initial reserve to get off the ground .

This is true in any ecosystem . This is why it is so difficult to start a new business , or why a new species cannot succeed . Or why waves of pandemics are scarcer .

For the epidemically minded , this 10% difference is responsible for the demise of the Black Death ( smallpox outcompeted bubonic plaque variants for the CR5 access site.Ironically , the reason why we have only a limited HIV plague is the high competition for this site , probably some flu vectors . As one would expect , the incidence of HIV then becomes inversely proportional to connectivity (ie flights) .

A cessation of airplane flights will then lead to a flare-up of diseases like these .

Not exactly what anybody has in mind . )

When we find that we really need the spread of infectious vectors to stay healthy , then we know we have really screwed ourselves .

These are the two main boundaries .

The literature is full of other limits the series can approach . Keep a clear head on what the physical significance is .

Fat

I cannot leave the subject without the thing closest to human hearts : appearance .

Fat and fitness .

Sadly , the present fad for leanness is just that . The period of superfluous food is coming to an end .

Rich individuals can afford to be lean because the reserves are in the monetary wealth Women have to bear children individually , so they cannot store the needed reserves externally . Hence their fat storage is close to the theoretical optimum even in Western societies (33%) . In other societies the percentage is about 37-40% .

Human males have been bred (Mk III humans) for muscle and little fat (8% in a superbly fit male) . He does not have reserves to withstand even garrison duty (even little diseases will lay him low .) Note the frequent references to diseases laying whole armies low .

Note what is left out : the camp-followers . They survived The women and babyfat children . Every army seeded the invaded area with women and children .

The bred soldier has to eat a high-carb food frequently : not meat or fat , his body cannot store it . This is the definition of a wheat-eating legionary .

Ho ! Ho! Ho!

The Atkinson diet .

No wonder it does not make sense in evolutionary terms .

Mesomorphic humans have been bred not to transform expensive proteins and fats into bodymass .

The soldier-class were kept on a carbohydrate leash , which could only be supplied by farming .

The Smell of Horses .

Horses exude pheromones that promote body-leanness in humans . This has an obvious advantage to horses . Horses are breeding jockeys .

The time-span is enough : at least 8 000 years . (400 generations)

Because pregnant women cannot ride horses , there was a selection pressure to breed horses who have a pheromone that block female dominance pheromones , especially since females have to weigh more because of fat-reserve considerations .

Outside a farming environment , horses will sculpt their riders as much as the riders are sculpting them .

Small Mongolian ponies , small Mongolians .

This is why alpha-males like horses and horse-dominated societies were able to conquer and keep matriarchies .

Note the effect of the pheromones on women riders . Androgeny .

On males it becomes extreme blockage of oestrogen . It seems like a surge of male hormones , but it is just an imbalance . (If too much male hormones , the men just kill their horses )

This is why the auto-mobile had such a big sociological effect . No horses , so the men became more effeminate .

Want to be Lean and Mean ?

Sniff Horse sweat pheromone .

Perfumiers take note .

Dogs

The other leg of the human-horse-dog triumvirate .

Dogs accept female pack-leaders and have evolutionary reasons for blocking horse inhibitions of human female pheromones .

While the males are away , the females look after and rely on the dogs .

(The reason why Mongols ride from yurt to yurt: they are too scared of the dogs.)

With dogs around , the male testosterone activity is ameliorated . This is a well known effect , especially if horses are around .

Hence the female love of lap-dogs . They are actually quite ferocious , and exude large amounts of pheromones that soothes the savage male breast .

Your attention is drawn to the Pekinese lapdog , which has had a disproportionately large effect on human history .

If this sounds convoluted , it is because this is exactly how this type of bio-system operates : by inhibitions of inhibitions of inhibitions ,etc .

Appendix IV A

Orders of Randomness 2

Andre Willers

15 Aug 2008

See http://andreswhy.blogspot.com : "Orders of Randomness"

I have been requested to expand a little on orders of Randomness and what it means .

Please note that human endeavours at this date use only randomness of the order of flipping a coin ( Beth(0) )

Aleph is the first letter of the Hebrew Alphabet . It was used by Cantor to denote

Classes of Infinity (ie Aleph(0) for Rational numbers , Aleph(1) for Irrational Numbers , etc

Beth is the second letter of the Hebrew Alfabet . It means "House"

I will first repeat the derivation of Orders of Randomness from http://andreswhy.blogspot.com : "Orders of Randomness" because it is so important .

----------------xxxxxx

Start Quote:

First , simple Randomness .

Flip of a coin .

Heads or Tails . 0 or 1

Flip an unbiased coin an infinite number of times ,write it down below each other and do it again .

All possible 0 and 1's

An example : Beth(0)

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Flips(1) 0,1,1,1,1,… etc

Flips(2) 0,1,1,1,0,… etc

.

Flips(infinity) 0,0,0,0,0,0,…etc

Xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

This describes all possible states in a delineated binary universe .

"delineated binary" means a two sided coin which cannot land on it's side .

Now draw a diagonal line from the top left of Flips(1) to Flips(infinity) .

At every intersection of this diagonal line with a horizontal line , change the value .

The Diagonal Line of (0,1)'s is then not in the collection of all possible random

Horizontal coin-Flips(x) .

This means the Diagonal Line is of a stronger order of randomness .

This is also the standard proof of an Irrational Number .

This is the standard proof of aleph numbers .

Irrational numbers ,etc

Since any number can be written in binary (0,1) , we can infer that the order of randomness is the same as aleph numbers .

This means we can use number theory in Randomness systems .

Very important .

Google Cantor (or Kantor)

Define coin-flip Randomness as Beth(0) , analogous to Aleph(0)

Then we have at least Beth(1) , randomness an order stronger than flipping a coin .

Then we can theorize Beth(Omega) <->Aleph(Omega) .

End Quote

----------------xxxxxx

Cardinal Numbers .

The cardinal number is the index x of Aleph(x) .

Cantor proved that

Aleph(n+1) = 2 ^ Aleph( n )

Where n is the cardinal number of the infinity .

Tying them together :

He also proved that

P(A) = 2^ n

Where A is any set , P(A) is the PowerSet of A and n is the cardinal number of set A

Thus , Cardinal Number of P(A) =(n+1)

The PowerSet of A = the Set of all subsets of A .

This sounds fancy , but it is simply all the different ways you can combine the elements of set A . All the ways you can chop up A .

You can see it easily in a finite binomial expansion (1+1)^n = P(A) = 2^n

See http://andreswhy.blogspot.com : "Infinite Probes"

There we also chop and dice , using infinite series .

Can you see how it all ties together ?

Why 2 ?

This derives from the Delineation Axiom . Remember , we can only talk about something if it is distinct and identifiable from something else . This gives a minimum of 2 states : part or non-part .

That is why the Zeta-function below is described on a 2-dimensional plane , or pesky problems like Primes always boil down to 2 dimensions of some sort .

This is why the irrational numbers play such an important part in physics .

Z=a+ib describes a 2-dimensional plane useful for delineated systems without feedback systems

Its in the axiom of Delineation , dummy .

But we know that Russell proved that A+~A<Universum .

The difference can be described as the Beth sequences . Since they are derivatives of summation-sequences(see below) , they define arrows usually seen as the time-arrows .

These need not to be described a-la-dunne's serial time , as different Beth levels address the problem adequately without multiplying hypotheses .

Self-referencing systems and Beth sequences .

A Proper Self-referencing system is of one cardinal Beth number higher than the system it derives from .

Self-referencing systems (feedback systems) can always be described as sequences of Beth systems . Ie as Beth(x) <-> Beth(y) . The formal proof is a bit long for inclusion here .

The easiest way to see it is in Bayesian systems . If Beth(x) systems are included , Bayesian systems become orders of magnitude more effective .

Life , civilization and markets are such . See below .

Conservation Laws :

By definition , these can always be written in a form of

SomeExpression = 0

Random (Beth(0) Walk in Euclidean 2-dimensions

This is a powerful unifying principle derived from the Delineation Axiom .

In Random Walk the Distance from the Center is = d * (n)^0.5 . This is a property of Euclidean systems .

(Where d = step , n=number of random beth(0) steps)

Immediately we can say that the only hope of the Walker returning to the center after an infinity of Beth(0) steps is if d ~ 1/(n)^0.5 . This is the Riemann Hypothesis .

Now , see a Universum of 2-dimensional descriptors z=a+ib

Sum all of them . Add together all the possible things that can be thus described .

This can be done as follows :

From z=a+ib Raise both sides to the e

e^(z) = e^(a) . e^i(b)

Raise both sides to the ln(j) power where j is real integers.

j^(z) = j^(a) . e^(b/ln(j))

Now , sum them :

Zeta=Sum of j^(z) for j=1 to infinity

Now we extract all possible statements that embody some Conservation Law . Beth(1)

This means that Zeta is zero for the set of extracted statements if and only if (b/ln(j)) is of the order of Beth(0) and a=(-1/2)

Tensors .

The above is a definition of a tensor for a discontinous function .

Riemann's Zeta function.

This can describe any delineated system .

If Zeta = 0 , conservation laws apply .

Zeta = Sigma(1/j )^z for j=1,2,3,…,infinity and z=a+ib , where z is complex and i =(-1)^0.5

The z bit is in two dimensions as discussed above .

This function has a deep underlying meaning for infinite systems .

If you unpack the Right-Hand side on a x-yi plane you get a graph that looks like a random walk .

If every point is visited that a random walk would visit over infinity (ie all) , without clumping , then Zeta can only be non-trivially zero if a=(-1/2) .

Why (x – yi) plane ? See "Why 2 " above . The system is fractal . Two dimensions are necessary in any delineated system .

Remember , randomwalk distance from origin = step*sqrt(number of steps) .

So if the steps = 1/ ( sqrt(number of steps) ) , then the Origin might be reached if and only if a= -1/2

This is easily proven .

If a= - 1/2 , then b can be any real function . This would include Beth(0) and Beth(1) , but not higher orders of beth .

If a= -1/2 and b is an unreal number , then a cannot be equal to -1/2 anymore . Conservation cannot hold at any level .

Consequences:

Conservation Laws can only hold for Beth(0) and Beth(1) systems .

This is forced by the two dimensions of delineation .

Mathematically , this means that Beth(2+) systems of feedbacks can only be described in terms of attractors or/and fractal systems (ie not in isolation)

Physically , conservation of energy and momentum need not hold for Beth(2+) systems .

This has an interesting corollary in decryption (unpacking) . A Beth(2) mind unpacking Beth(0) or Beth(1) encryption is functionally equivalent to Non-Conservation of Energy

Appendix B

For Blast

Blast from the Past

Andre Willers

13 Jan 2012

Synopsis:

High intensities of gamma- and X-ray radiation on Earth from the center of our galaxy can be expected during 2013 AD , due to an infalling gas cloud into the central Milky Way black hole .

Discussion :

The discovery was made by Stefan Gillesson of the Max Planck Institute for Extraterrestrial Physics

in Garching , Germany .

References :

  1. "Nature" , DOI 10.1038/nature10652
  2. "New Scientist" 17 Dec 2011 p16 "Cloud suicide could transform black hole"

A gas cloud of an estimated three earth masses is expected to impact the supermassive , rotating black hole at the center of our galaxy ("Sagittarius A*") in 2013 AD . Note that radiation from this event can be expected shortly afterward in local time .

A large part of this mass will be converted to electro-magnetic energy .

Now , three earth masses is not a lot of energy in the galactic scheme of things , but the way it is distributed does .

Briefly , the energy release is characterized by very short wavelenghts (gamma or x-ray) and lobe-shaped distributions of the pulse-wavefronts in the galactic ecliptic .

There is a combination of relativistic and quantum effects in the last few cm's before the event horizon .

1.There is a slingshot effect , because the gas cloud must be lumpy , even if only at atomic scale . The gas cloud vanishes in a few Planck -time units , emitting very short-wave radiation due to differential tidal friction .

2.But the black hole is large and rotating , which forms time-bands of slower time , which gives enough time for feedback . Depending on the size and rotation speed of the black hole , this will lead to 2n lobes of wavefronts on the rotation equator , where n=1,2,3,...

3.Hawking Burps .

This process in para 2 above "foams" the event horizon , leading to a drastically increased Hawking radiation . (The "foam" would be something like Sierpinsky chaotic triangles)

The density and time-band concentrations of energy separates particle-anti-particle pairs to give Hawking radiation .

This burp of energy sweeps matter from the neighborhood of the black hole and reduces the mass of the black hole , preventing black holes from swallowing everything . Elegant .

4.Turning a Hawking Burp into a White Hole .

There is a narrow window where the Burp becomes self-sustaining . A large black hole then evaporates in an awesome release of energy . Even the tiniest random fluctuation (eg matter-antimatter) will get magnified and perpetuated .

Not the place to take your mother for a picnic .

5.Foaming Space-time .

Well , space-time is already foamed , but only to a simple level . (Quantum foam)

Call it Foam(0)

We can churn this to higher orders of foam (Foam(1) , Foam(2) , Foam(3) ,...,Foam(b) )

where b can be derived from Kantor's Aleph classes combined with chaos theory .

Taken to the logical extreme , this leaves only Foam ordered into Branes .

The smile on the Cheshire cat just after he brushed his teeth .

So what does this mean to us ?

A full frontal impact from a lobe will give a definitive answer to Fermi's Paradox : "Where are they ?" Why , extinct .

More likely is an immersion in the higher radiation levels alongside the lobes for a long time .

Can be survived , given enough warning .

Apply to the Max Planck Institute for Extraterrestrial Physics for more .

Friday the thirteenth can be quite a gas .

The Ostrum Game

Andre Willers

30 Oct 2011

"One Game shall bind them all ." , ( with apologies to Tolkien)

"This time , we know for sure the grass is greener somewhere"

"A Revolution , any Revolution."

Synopsis :

A Game for Grown-ups .

The Eight Ostrum Design Principles are Meta-rules that generate self-consistent sets of rules that encompasses competition , co-operation , catastrophe , hierarchies and other systems undreamt of , all between discrete , interacting , self-organising systems .

Your avatar can go from SecondLife to Simworld , to War Worlds , to any desired locale .

Reality becomes a subset .

Discussion :

1.An incredible amount of money can be made .While money still has some meaning .

Without too much work . See Para 8 in Appendix A

Each Game Company is a base nested institution .

They bind easily together , releasing a lot of energy and money .

Explosive Feedback Synergism .

A run-up to the Singularity .

2.Feedback between Games and Reality :

The Meta-rules make no differentiation between Game-characters and Real-characters .

Indeed , many Real-characters have been spun into Game-characters , and vice-versa .

Think Sherlock Holmes , MacGyver , Gauss , young Werther etc

See "mirror-neuron networks" , any soap opera , etc .

Real-life problems get treated the same way as Game problems . The more diverse and sophisticated the Game interactions become , the more effect on any real or Game system .

Eventually , they become undistinguishable as technology progresses .

3.The Grass is provably greener somewhere .

Long known as a wishful thinking fallacy , until Ostrum published the Design Principles in 1990 .

This was the trigger event of under-the-surface knowledge about Ostrum Rules building up .

Suddenly , it became possible .

A Phase-change in the noosphere occurred .

It meant that a Disaster of the Commons or an Empire was not inevitable . Grandchildren could survive .

WE CAN MAKE THE GRASS GREENER , EVEN IF WE HAVE TO PAINT IT ONE BLADE AT A TIME .

Enormous tensions began surfacing . These effects are still playing out now .

A really , really major Hysterical Focus started forming , and is still intensifying .

Now , are you surprised that 1990 was the year of huge revolutions , when the USSR collapsed ?

The Ostrum Game beat the Ring of Power .

And you have not seen anything yet .

The pace of Revolutions is intensifying .

A good thing , if Homo wishes to escape extinction .

4.Automating Ostrum Rules :

They might be Meta-rules , but they are still rules .

We can certainly write programs that can serve to guide past most of the pitfalls and suggest alternatives .

5.Multicellular Bodies as Commons :

We can certainly analyze bodies in terms of Commons . The Dear Reader will find many interesting things if he does that .

Note the emphasis on communication .

Talk to your body . Aloud . And listen in the silences in between .

Create a virtual body and note the interactions .

Use the Ostrum Design principles .

6.Singularity :

It is immediately obvious that humans are then not limited to Real biochemical definitions of personality . The emphasis on communication means that personalities are distributed across Real and Game spaces . The Game space personality segments are only limited by internal non-contradictory rules . That can be done via Ostrum Design principles .

Not exactly instantaneous , but I can intuit that the time can be calculated . It would be less than real time .

The putative developing system would have ethical constraints on abandoning Real-part personalities under Ostrum Rules .

Told you it would be kindler , gentler .

7.Phase Change :

The system has already undergone an irrevocable phase change in 1990 .

You can fast-forward the rest .

8.Did Ostrum know what she was unleashing ?

The Revolutionary aspects , nearly certainly .

In her quiet way , she is one of the greatest Revolutionaries in Homo Sapiens history . Worthy of being called a Matriarch .

The Singularity aspect is more uncertain . She certainly knew that she unleashed major fairness , but the phase-change in the Noosphere I do not know .

Still , a tour-de-force .

How do feel like being a pet of your avatar ?

Andre .

Appendix A

See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elinor_Ostrom

To quote from Wiki : (comments in brackets are my own ).

" Ostrom identifies eight "design principles" of stable local common pool resource management:[10]

  1. Clearly defined boundaries (effective exclusion of external un-entitled parties;
  2. Rules regarding the appropriation and provision of common resources that are adapted to local conditions; (Equal sharing of debts and rewards)
  3. Collective-choice arrangements that allow most resource appropriators to participate in the decision-making process; (Consensus decisions-no leveraged hierarchies)
  4. Effective monitoring by monitors who are part of or accountable to the appropriators; (Policing)
