How much cheese can I safely eat ?
As much as I like , as long as it is heated above 129 Celsius .
If the non-angiosperm (especially fungi) markers exceed 1/3 , then the intestinal flora will start switching genes to favour fungi . (Your gut does not watch CNN)
You get fungal infections .Regardless of immune system responses . The immune system actually starts protecting fungi . Serious trouble .

Not only changes to the oxygen exchange mechanism to tolerate high altitudes , but also a sensor about dangerous build-up of carbon monoxide .

It was also cold . So , environments had to be sealed and heated .
High altitude was crucial . Low partial pressure of oxygen . The CO effect would be more marked .
How would the warning surface ?
I do not know , but theorize that it would be a prickling and irritation of eyeball as CO interact with epicanthic fats to form irritants .

Their descendants populated the lowlands ( Han , Mongols) . In yurts and snowed in Chinese houses , if their eyes started to prickle , they got out and avoided CO poisoning .

A bony endoskeleton enforced a limitation on the degrees of freedom of movement . This freed up neurons for central utilization of mirror neurons . Ie culture .
Discussion :
Octopi evolved long before mammals and dinosaurs .
Having no endo or ecto skeleton , every movement had to be controlled , using up huge neural resources .
Present octopi have about 500 million neurons (about dog size) , but a whopping 60% of that is used for control of the tentacles and body .
This is because they had no bones . Every cm of movement had to be controlled .
A further about 32% is used for control of the visual , and optic and photo-mimic cells This leaves about 8% for the brain (a central cartiligeous bound organ) for central direction .

1.The USA runs out of money on 2 Aug 2011 .
It has a legal debt ceiling (14.7 $Trillion) that will be exceeded then .
To extend this , Congressional approval is needed .
This means approval by both Republicans and Democrats .
But the Republican-Democrat gridlock has already started
(See Appendix A)
2.They would need to cut expenditure and raise taxes .
But special interests and conviction leads to conflict :
The Republicans do not want to raise taxes , or even abolish some tax-exemptions on big business .
The Democrats do not want to cut expenditure on Social Welfare .
Many on both sides are very sincere and convinced they are right .
The result will be Gridlock .
3.Perfect Financial Storm :
A USA default , combined with EU defaults , combined with effects of Japanese earthquakes , combined with Chinese slowdown and debt problems , reverberate and Domino back and forth .
The USA has done this before . The US Civil War and Prohibition are examples .
4.Completely unpredictable results will follow .
Social media like Facebook and Twitter will change forces into something strange . Hopefully rich as well .

Key Republican pulls out of debt ceiling talks, negotiations on verge of collapse

Washington (CNN)-With only weeks to go before the country hits the debt ceiling, bipartisan negotiations were on the verge of collapsing as one of two Congressional Republicans walked away from the talks, and the other was unclear about future discussions.
House Majority Leader Eric Cantor withdrew from the negotiations Thursday, saying they had reached an impasse with Democrats over tax issues and it was time for President Obama to get involved to broker a deal that would pave the way for a vote to raise the debt ceiling this summer. Arizona Republican Senator Jon Kyl said that it would be difficult to continue negotiations with only one Republican at the table.
Talks planned for Thursday afternoon were scrapped after Vice President Joe Biden decided not to attend in light of Cantor’s announcement.
Cantor, who represented the House GOP in the discussions, said "there is not support in the House for a tax increase, and I don’t believe now is the time to raise taxes in light of our current economic situation. Regardless of the progress that has been made, the tax issue must be resolved before discussions can continue."
Cantor called on President Barack Obama to step in. “I believe it is time for the President to speak clearly and resolve the tax issue," he said.
An aide to Kyl told CNN that he also feels that the talks have gone as far as they can go with the players involved and the President now needs to personally get involved.
Rep. Chris Van Hollen, one of the House Democrats involved in the meetings, said there was no indication at yesterday’s session that the Republicans would stop participating.
Van Hollen said he learned the news as he was leaving a meeting with the President Thursday morning and was “disappointed.”
“They had been proceeding well although there is no doubt that there were some very difficult issues that needed to be decided,“ Van Hollen told reporters.
The bipartisan group, led by Vice President Biden, has been meeting for weeks behind closed doors to discuss various proposals to cut spending, from both discretionary programs and entitlement programs, such as Medicare. They have released very few details about areas of agreement, but Cantor said the group made significant progress agreeing to trillions in spending cuts, and noted “we have established a blueprint that could institute the fiscal reforms needed to start getting our fiscal house in order.” They had originally hoped to reach some sort of tentative agreement by July 1.
The group was working toward an agreement that would raise the debt ceiling by more than $2 trillion with an equivalent amount of spending cuts over the next ten years. Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner said he expects the country to reach the debt ceiling by August 2, effectively halting the nation’s ability to borrow money and forcing the government into default on its obligations.
Multiple Democratic sources claim Cantor backed out of the talks because he doesn't want his fingerprints on an agreement that could face opposition from many House Republicans.
Several sources familiar with the bipartisan meeting on Wednesday said that it was incredibly tense and difficult.
Democrats involved in the negotiations have repeatedly said increasing tax revenues, from proposals such as ending subsidies for big oil companies, or companies producing ethanol, should be considered as part of the deal. Van Hollen said there was no justification for opposing those items “if you are serious about reducing the deficit.”
But the Democratic source—who would not speak on the record about the closed talks–said the Republicans in the negotiations have refused to accept any proposals that end any subsidies. "They're not willing to accept a dime of tax increases, we call it closing tax loopholes"
A Republican leadership, who also asked not to be identified, said it was the Democrats holding up progress because they refused to accept major changes to entitlement programs.
Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell went to the Senate floor and echoed Cantor’s message.
"Either someone on the other side has forgotten that there is strong bipartisan, bipartisan, opposition in Congress to raising taxes or someone is acting in bad faith. We’ve known for some time that tax hikes would be a poison pill to any deficit reduction proposal,” McConnell said.
As Republicans were stressing their position to keep taxes off the table, the Democratic source maintained the GOP was continuing to push for major cuts to programs that they knew Democrats would oppose.

Cantor, who represented the House GOP in the discussions, said "there is not support in the House for a tax increase, and I don’t believe now is the time to raise taxes in light of our current economic situation. Regardless of the progress that has been made, the tax issue must be resolved before discussions can continue."
Cantor called on President Barack Obama to step in. “I believe it is time for the President to speak clearly and resolve the tax issue," he said.
An aide to Kyl told CNN that he also feels that the talks have gone as far as they can go with the players involved and the President now needs to personally get involved.
Rep. Chris Van Hollen, one of the House Democrats involved in the meetings, said there was no indication at yesterday’s session that the Republicans would stop participating.

The group was working toward an agreement that would raise the debt ceiling by more than $2 trillion with an equivalent amount of spending cuts over the next ten years. Synopsis:
Light volcanic pumice fall is more deletrious than a heavy fall .
Discussion :
This is happening now in the Southern Hemisphere due to heavy pumice eruptions in Chile , Eritrea and other places .
The damage :
It is not ash , but pumice . A rock aerosol . The heavy bits fall out soon , but the very light pieces get carried over the whole hemisphere .
It is hygroscopic (lots of micropore structures) and agglutinates . Clogs up your lungs with cement . Which is why they just now grounded aircraft flights out of Southern African Airports (bad weather plus fine pumice ruins lifting surfaces and turbines )
Not good enough for a jet , but good enough for you to breathe .
Long-range power lines
These systems have fine-tuned it to the effect of wind on the cooling of electrical powerlines . (Well known heat = Current ^2 effect) .
This is widely used (a little thing ESKOM neglected to tell you)

This is happening now in the Southern Hemisphere due to heavy pumice eruptions in Chile , Eritrea and other places .
The damage :
It is not ash , but pumice . A rock aerosol . The heavy bits fall out soon , but the very light pieces get carried over the whole hemisphere .

Look at those puzzling microgrooves on the horns . Waveguides .
They would have evolved biological lasers on the scales .

An ecology of hardy triceraptops sheltering fast , smallish dino's will overwhelm human ecologies . And once the larger ones get laser technology , humans can kiss their ass goodbye .

Less than 10% of the workforce is needed to produce all the goods for the civilization .This means that 90% of the workforce cannot perform a function that enables them to have an income to afford the products of the productive 10% .
But they need these products to live . They can only then produce promises to pay .

Production enabling an income to buy goods have been cleverly outsourced to the lowest-cost 10% of the world's population (China) . They are paid in monetary units subsidized by their own savings .

Western socio-political systems have been unable to resolve problems of high growthrates (7%-18%) and consequent distribution of wealth and leisure consumption Fitter ones are evolving , creating tensions .
Discussion :
In a nutshell : present societies can produce all the goods and services needed for primary consumption using less than 10% of the working force .
The rest (90%) are superfluous .
But there is no guidance to Leisure Consumption or Distribution of Surpluses except a sense of grievance .
This is the Challenge .
Not too little , but too much .
This leads to hiccups in the system , and temporary blockages result .
Each blockage increases grievances , but that is all that is remembered .
Like now .

1.USA : print more money (Pre-Revolutionary)
2. EU : Austerity (reduce consumption) (Post-Revolutionary)

The Chinese social system has a built-in attraction to chaotic-thresholds . (Comes from an old civilization . Or maybe they just play too much Mah-Jongg)
In other words , too pushy .
But you have to be Chinese to understand the thresholds .
What seems to be a riot is just a normal expression of disagreement . But over certain threshold , it is a bit more serious . With degrees of seriousness , backed up by something that matters .
The only time they were really , really serious , with no gloves or games were in the early stages of the Ming rebellion against the Mongols .

Troy was built on a promontory , with many little harbours .To stop most supplies from within a day's sailing (20km/hr wind*10hrs=200 km) would require a spotter at every km , plus a rapid reaction cavalry force of about 100 men . This means about 200* 100 = 20 000 men . Times 2 in both directions
About 40 000 cavalry . This means about 60 000 horses . Not a trivial number .
Remember , they did not have stirrups or compound bows . They had to cling on while galloping and poke at enemies .
This could be supported by the logistical support from the Gla-industrial complex .
They did this , and starved Troy . But it cost them .
Every mouthful for horse and man had to shipped from Greece .
A small Mongol detachment (400 men) would have done better .
The cost was supportable , until the Trojan counterstroke destroyed the Gla infrastructure .
About 100 000 infantry could make their way home , but the "herrenvolk" of cavalry (40 000 of them) , suddenly could not keep themselves or their beloved horses .
They could only ride to contiguous land masses .
They destroyed many near-eastern cities .

Gla (rarely Glas) (Greek: Γλα or Γλας) was an important fortified site of the Mycenaean civilization, located in Boeotia, mainland Greece
Location
The site is located on a limestone outcrop or hill that jutted into Lake Kopais (now drained) or formed an island within it. The flat-topped outcrop rises up to 38m above the surrounding area. It measures circa 900 x 575m (at the widest point). Size
Excavation revealed much detail about the fortification walls (which were always visible) and, on the interior, remains of buildings from the Mycenaean period. The fortification encloses an area of nearly 20 hectares, about 10 times as much as the Mycenaean citadels of Athens orTiryns.
Walls
The walls are built of medium-sized limestone blocks, mostly in theCyclopean masonry technique (ashlar masonry is employed at some of the gates). They have a total length of 2.8 km, are up to 6.75m wide and 3-5m high
Elaborate built ramps led to the gates. The fortification can be dated to early LH III B, that is, circa 1300 BC.
Draining of Kopais
Much of the area within the walls is vacant, leading archaeologists to believe that it served as a refuge for farmers in the area of Lake Kopais in the event of attack. It is suggested that the land dominated by the citadel of Gla served as the "bread basket" of the Mycenaean world. This is supported by the fact that Lake Kopais, the largest lake in southern Greece, had been drained by a system of dams and canals (one of the most astonishing achievements ofprehistoric engineering) at about the same time as the erection of Gla, producing a large fertile plain. The drainage system collapsed from destruction or neglect at or after the end of Mycenaean Civilisation; in Classical Antiquity, the lake existed again. Arne (mythology)
"In Greek mythology, Arne (Ἄρνη) or Melanippe (Μελανίππη) was a daughter of Aeolus and Melanippe (also Hippe or Euippe), daughter of Chiron. She was born as a foal as her mother had been transformed into a horse as a disguise, but was returned to the human form and renamed Arne. Aeolus entrusted her to the care of one Desmontes, however Poseidon fathered Aeolus and Boeotus with her while he was in the form of a bull. Enraged, Desmontes entombed and blinded her and placed her twin sons on Mount Pelion. She was later rescued by her sons and married king Metapontus of Icaria, and Poseidon restored her vision.
Through Boeotus, she was the ancestress of the Boeotians. A city named after her was recorded in
he Iliad's Catalogue of Ships which has been tentatively identified with the ruins of Gla."

Gla (rarely Glas) (Greek: Γλα or Γλας) was an important fortified site of the Mycenaean civilization, located in Boeotia, mainland Greece
Location
The site is located on a limestone outcrop or hill that jutted into Lake Kopais (now drained) or formed an island within it. The flat-topped outcrop rises up to 38m above the surrounding area. It measures circa 900 x 575m (at the widest point). The ancient name of the site is unknown, it is unclear whether it is one of the Boeotian places named by Homer (some scholars suggest that Gla is Homer's Arne). The scholarly designation "Gla" is from the Albanian word for fortification, the modern local population calls the site Paliokastro (Greek for "ancient fortress").[1]
Size
Excavation revealed much detail about the fortification walls (which were always visible) and, on the interior, remains of buildings from the Mycenaean period. The fortification encloses an area of nearly 20 hectares, about 10 times as much as the Mycenaean citadels of Athens orTiryns.
Walls
The walls are built of medium-sized limestone blocks, mostly in theCyclopean masonry technique (ashlar masonry is employed at some of the gates). They have a total length of 2.8 km, are up to 6.75m wide and 3-5m high
Elaborate built ramps led to the gates. The fortification can be dated to early LH III B, that is, circa 1300 BC.
Draining of Kopais
Much of the area within the walls is vacant, leading archaeologists to believe that it served as a refuge for farmers in the area of Lake Kopais in the event of attack. It is suggested that the land dominated by the citadel of Gla served as the "bread basket" of the Mycenaean world. This is supported by the fact that Lake Kopais, the largest lake in southern Greece, had been drained by a system of dams and canals (one of the most astonishing achievements ofprehistoric engineering) at about the same time as the erection of Gla, producing a large fertile plain. The drainage system collapsed from destruction or neglect at or after the end of Mycenaean Civilisation; in Classical Antiquity, the lake existed again. It was drained a second time in the 19th century.

Synopsis :
Gla (Arne in Homeric terms) was the greatest Fortress construction and irrigation works of the late Bronze Age .
After it's destruction , waves of devastation spread out all over the Eastern Mediterranean (Sea Peoples) . Trade partners in Western Europe and Britain also suffered decline .
Discussion :
The name :
"Gla" is proto-European , meaning Fortress . Remnants can be seen in "Glacis" and
"Glacier" .
"Arne" : See Appendix A .This was local and has vanished .
What happened to the Bronze Age ?
1.Population increased .
2.Trade increased pari-passu .
3.Elites increased even faster .
4.Climate started deteriorating .
5.Food supplies were under increasing pressure .
6.Twofold strategy to counter it:
6.1 Short term :Gla was constructed . Lake Kopais was drained .The area fed most of Greece. (See Appendix C)
6.2 Long term : Food was imported from cheaper production areas around the Black Sea .
7 .Pesky Trojans :
Troy was in a position to control food to humans and horses (military) in Greece
The choke-point through the Dardanelles .
Analogous to oil today .
8.Trojan War :
Homer is often criticized as having too large a number of combatants . The suspicion is that the actual number was much larger towards the end .
It was a resources war . To the knife .
What was supposed to be a short , sharp war ended up in a long , drawn-out affair as more and more resources were thrown into the fray . Think WW I .
9. Logistical Mutual Destruction (LMD)
A variant of Mutual Assured Destruction (MAD)
9.1 The Trojans bribed the Thessalians and Desmontes (the governor of Gla) to lay waste to the Gla foodbasket .
9.2 The Achaeans landed enough horses at Troy for cavalry to lay waste to the countryside around Troy . The Trojan Horse . Denying food .

The archeological evidence from graveyards in Greece indicate a 95% depopulation during this period . This seems excessive . Much more likely that they simply ran away , especially since they would have had ample warning . Refugees .

Some die-hards would have carried written records . Look for Linear B in Canaanite countries . The Western and especially north-western shores of the Dead Sea should have the highest probability of old Linear B scripts . Refugees derived from the Sea Peoples would not hide things where religious sects would .
Think "Where would Odysseus hide it ?"
He would have hidden them on the South-eastern and Southern slopes of Crete .
The Thera tsunamis would have reached about 100 meters , so ; look for caves above this .
18. A clue : the Cyclops legend . The Greeks did love their legends . The stupid man-eating giant with one eye is a perfect metaphor for their view of civilization .

Homer's description of the site is fairly exact . The shorelines at the time is available .

The Library of Troy would be extremely valuable .Homer does not even mention it . Yet this was what the whole war had been about .
