Salute to a Hero : George Herbert Walter Bush

Salute to a Hero : George Herbert Walter Bush
Andre Willers
1 Feb 2010

Synopsis :
Bush Snr saved hundreds of millions of lives by deciding to intervene in the Russian succession struggle in 1992 , against the advice of his generals .
A nuclear replay of WWI was avoided .

Discussion :

Ever wonder why the most heavily armed nation in history collapsed without even a token defence ?

The NSA of the US had decisively subverted the Command-and-Control structures of the Russian and Warsaw-pact countries through electronic means . See "Time" magazine articles at the time .

But it was a once-off .

Using it meant that countermeasures can (and was taken)

A crushing military victory could be obtained . But at the cost of literally hundreds of millions of casualties and slagged countries .

And there was no guarantee that the USSR's Strategic Rocket Forces will not become involved .

Then the casualties would have been in the billions , all over the world .

The Kicker (why he got the big bucks)
George Herbert Walter Bush (b1941) overruled his General Staff and ordered that full covert and overt support be given to the legitimate Russian Government .

The attempted coup by Spetznaz armoured forces around Moscow ended up being steered in circles , after electronic commands being subverted by NSA .

The Warsaw-Pact troops had always been on 72-hour standby .
The actual order to mobilize and attack had been given .
They were mobilizing in their usual slapdash fashion , but no Weapons of Mass Destruction had been released to forward troops .

The Warsaw-Pact order of battle is now available on the Internet .
It always involved the early release of ABC(Atomic,Bacteriological,Chemical) weapons within the first 48 hours .

Shevardnadze flew down Warsaw-pact headquarters . Between his political bludgeoning and the US subversion of commands , the attack never got started .

But it was a close-run thing .

Once the control of ABC weapons were released , a rerun of WWI (only more terrible) was unavoidable .

Europe would be a wasteland today .
The bacteriological weapons for livestock and plants would also have spread planetwide . Tactical nukes would have obliterated transport systems (especially airports) . This means that no help would have been available .

What do you know !
The systems actually learned something .
It did not happen .

Hero!
Regardless of what else he did or did not do , for this George Herbert Walter Bush will be considered a Hero in future .
For saving lives in the hundreds of millions and green treasure in billions of plants .

The Oath :
Note that US soldiers swear to
"Life , Liberty , the Pursuit of Happiness and the Constitution of the United States "
One of the reasons for the success of the USA is that it is a principle , not a country .
Saving other people's lives is fit , good and proper .

This is exactly what George Herbert Walter Bush did .

He upheld honor
He is also one of the few moderns that can say with some justification :
"Si monumentes requires , circumspice ."

Look at what is not there . The wastelands and blasted inhabitants .
Cf Mandela and De Klerk , much as it pains me to admit it .

PS . I don't do panegyrics .
Bush deserves his kudo's .

Shaving

Shaving
Andre Willers
11 Feb 2010

Synopsis :
Why did Neolithic , Bronze-age and iron age peoples shave? How did they do it ?

Discussion:
The shavers:
Ancient Greeks and Romans (derived from Southern-Russian steppes .
Scythians , Mongols .
Egyptian priests (and by extension , Bronze-age elites) shaved . Even their heads . See Minoan statues and portraits . See any beards ?

So shave they did , and extensively .

But how did they do it ?
And where are the razors ?
Combs in plenty are found (see http:\\andreswhy.blogspot.com "Combs")

The Obsidian razor .
Obsidian is far sharper than the best steel razor .
It gives a really close shave .

In a pinch , an obsidian full-blade can be used . But it will leave nicks in the skin .
Fashion and hygiene were there first .
See http://andreswhy .blogspot.com "Hairlessness ,Fat and Fire"
Sexual selection toward hairlessness drove the process .

The technique of clamping small shards of obsidian between a wooden or bone frames developed . Used later for sickles when agriculture developed . Also for large obsidian stone-swords .

These frames were glued together , or bound with leather . Metal wire was unobtainable or impossibly expensive . (Copper and gold stretched too much . Bronze was too brittle .)

The glue , leather and wood perished with time .
What was left was small shards of obsidian , which nobody has associated with razors. (Computor topography programs used for matching shards of pottery together can be used to recreate ancient razors from the obsidian shards .)

Lubricant :
Oil or fat . Refer to Greek strigils .
Olive oil was probably first developed as a shaving lubricant . The quite complicated process to make olives edible flowed out of the surplus of olive oil pressed for shaving purposes .
Olive trees , like most drought resistant plants , have very sophisticated defenses of a chemical nature against herbivores .
If you want to get really , really sick , eat some raw , untreated olives .

Refer to the extravagant prices scents (which were combined with oils and fats) commanded . The Egyptian priesthood and nobles anywhere did not want to smell rancid .

They might get rid of the wood-smoke smell , but that did not help if they stank of rancid fat .
Turns women right off .

Steppe dwellers in Northern Eurasia .
Notice lack of facial hair .
There seems to be a strong selection against facial hair .

Theory :
The steppes in these areas have regular periods of sub-zero temperatures .
A horse rider bounces up and down . Any facial covering used against the cold chafes against frozen hairs , breaking off hairs . Broken hairshafts in the skin leads to infections .
Hence the heavy selection against beards .

Cavalry and armoured cavalry are nearly always clean-shaven or minimal on the facial hair . See tombstone-effigies of centuries of medieval knights .

Where are Alexander the Greats's razors ? Or combs for that matter .
It might be more fruitful to track his barber .

Political abreaction :
Nomads that conquered warmer areas , deliberately cultivated luxuriant beards to differentiate themselves . (Cf Assyrians , Hittites , Persians ) Especially if they fought against the Egyptians .
Something similar happened with the collapse of the western Roman empire . The barbarians deliberately went bearded to distinguish themselves from the Romans .
This happened frequently in other civilizations .

Did Neanderthals shave ?
They were cold-adapted , so they must have had beards . But without horses , they had no compelling reason to shave off facial hair . Hence some residual evidence of Neanderthal head-lice via the Homo Erectus lineage .

An interesting alternate :
If Neanderthals domesticated a riding animal (eg elk , bovines or even horses) this would have compensated for their short legs . We would probably be speaking Neanderthalese . Heavy Neanderthal cavalry would be formidable .
See http://andreswhy.blogspot.com "Death of the Neanderthal"

The Cut-throat razor .
A direct descendant of obsidian razors .
Note the elegance of design . The curved handle . The protection of the brittle blades .
The ease of use .
The blades only slightly protruding from the frame acted like a safety razor today .
It is a mini-strigil , but sharp as hell .

Why did it vanish ?
Well , it did not vanish . Just became relatively more expensive . Cheap steel replaced it for mass-use .

Obsidian is expensive . The labour to make a razor for a close shave even more so .
But a good obsidian razor is far superior to the best steel one that can be bought today

Somewhere , people are still making them .
Technologies of this type are not forgotten , but simply go underground . Cf weaving , Jacquerie looms , etc .
See http://andreswhy.blogspot.com "Ancient Babylonian IT"

A suitable present for the man who thinks he has everything .

And now for something completely different .
The Pharaoh's built the Pyramids to sharpen their razors .

From the (admittedly sketchy) physics of Pyramid Razor Sharpening , obsidian flakes should be very susceptible to sharpening .

Throw the priests a bone and the people a works project .
At least , the Pharaoh gets a close shave .

But inside every pyramid is the sharpest blade of them all .
Occam's Razor .

Hypothetically yours ,

Andre .

Alexander's Loot .

Alexander's Loot .
Andre Willers
7 Feb 2010

Synopsis:
An estimated US$ 463 Billion in high-value loot (gold and jewels) still lies hidden between 61.5 degrees East , 25 degree North and 61.25 degrees East , 29.35 degree North . Near Gwatar Bay .
See Appendix A for estimate .

Discussion :

Exuberance of Success:
After looting the accumulated wealth of the Middle East , every Greek troopie was a millionaire . Accumulating at least 5-10 camp followers (including wives , concubines and children ) .
Numerous auxillaries of dubious loyalty also attached .
Estimate about 500 000 people .
Of which about 50 000 were core Greek troops .

After the mutiny at Hydaspes , Alexander faced some hard strategic choices:
1. He could not stay . His core forces were too small and getting increasingly corrupted .
2. If he left with the whole train to Babylon , the economy of Babylon would collapse
3. What he needed was his Army purged and purified . With a disciplined Army he could always repair any problems by some killing and looting .
4. He therefore did two things :
4.1 March south to Pattala , where a fleet of more than100 ships were built under Nearchos . This ferried his personal share of treasure to Babylon .
4.2 Announced that the army would march back through the Gedrosian Desert .
Probably announced at Gwatar Bay .
5. Two orders of Alexander that would not be obeyed :
5.1 Abandon loot
5.2 Abandon children and wives .
6. So he did not try . An order his troops could not disobey was the route of the march . They were as aware as he was that they only existed on the momentum of previous conquests and the cohesion of the army . Forcing marching through the desert means that they would have to ditch the baggage train and hide most of the loot . He snookered them .
7. These were the most accomplished looters in history . They really , really knew where to hide loot where not even they could find it .
8. Unfortunately , about ¾ of them died on the march . So most of their loot was never found , even over 2 000 years .

Gwatar Bay should be named Lamentation Bay .
The camp followers (at least 400 000 of them) , wives , children etc were cast adrift with lesser parts of the loot .
Gold and jewelry , especially , were stashed .

Odysseus in Ithaca .
Alexander miscalculated the effect of the Desert Crossing on his Greek troops .
A triumphant house-cleansing by his re-invigorated and purged Greek warriors did not happen . (A-la-Odysseus in Ithaca)

A sullen and rebellious lot rocked up in Babylon , having lost all their loot and their wives and children . Facing larger numbers and richer locals .

It was a wonder Alexander lasted as long as he did .
His personal treasure was there , but without an army to guard it , it was simply another temptation to his generals .

Hence " It was a mosquito that did it, your honor."

Long Term effects :
One of the reasons for the extraordinary success of Egyptian and Middle-eastern civilizations were their great efficiency in recycling burial goods of gold , silver and gems . Grave robbers were , and are , integrated into the economy .
(Cf Scythian and Celtic , which did not have grave robbers and were at a severe economic disadvantage.)

The loss of such a large accumulated surplus represented by the Alexandrian Army's loot impoverished the Middle East for centuries . It played a large role in success of Roman arms .
See http://andreswhy.blogspot.com "Whatever happened to Nomads?" .
There was not enough portable currency to hire enough mercenary troops . (ie Nomads)

The ripple effects are still discernable .

Do you feel lucky ?
You know where to look .

It was never Alexander's intention to impoverish the local regions and render them vulnerable to nomad mercenaries .

The ghosts of his soldiers want these treasures to be found .

Toujours!

Andre .

Appendix A
Estimate of amount of Alexander's Army Treasure .
In 2010 US$
See http://andreswhy.blogspot.com "New tools" "Reserves"

Let S= average surplus per person in the Middle East per year circa 300-1300 BCE .
Let Tax= 1/3 * S be average tax per year.
Let a third be retained as reserve .
Reserve= 1/9 *S
Accumulate this over 50 million people over 1000 years .
Reserve = 50*10^6 *10^3 *1/9 * S
Reserve = 5/9 * 10^10 *S

Alexander looted a third of this .
Loot = 5/27 *10^10 * S
The troops got 1/10 of this . (The officers got the rest , but this got recycled.)
And they (the troops) retained 1/3 to finally bury . (They spent 2/3 on wine , women and song)
Loot buried= 5/81 * 10^9 *S
=0.617*10^8 *S

Let S = $1000 , a not unreasonable figure .
The ME at the time was well-watered and had 3-4 crops a year .

Then loot buried ~ 0.617 US$Trillion
Three quarters got lost .
Buried loot remaining = 0.617/4*3 Trillion
= US$ 463 Billion
Good enough for government work .

Still an ungodly amount of money in a civilization without credit facilities .

No wonder their civilization collapsed .

Whatever happened to Nomads ?

Whatever happened to Nomads ?
Andre Willers
4 Feb 2010

Synopsis:
"Colt made everyone equal .
Kalashnikov made everyone free ." … AW

Nomadism is alive and well and on an upsurge .

Discussion:

Nomadism is one of the great Human inventions .

What is nomadism ?
The capability of transporting your culture and technology in a small , portable package that can unpack on fertile ground and defend itself .

Do not confuse it with Hunter-Gatherer .

The processes are
1. hunter-gatherer ->agricultural -> nomad ->city
2.hunter-gatherer ->agricultural -> city ->nomad
The two processes iterate into each other .

City and Nomad has been in this thesis-antithesis-synthesis armed discussion for at least 10 000 years . .

City is more secure , but less freedom . Nomad less secure , but more freedom . The kicker is that technological innovation (due to higher degree of freedom) proceeds from Nomad to City .
Eg Iron and steel working , windmills , stirrups , etc

The City system ends up as reactive to Nomadic systems . Always a step or two behind . But sheer strength enabled it to survive the lag until about the middle of the twentieth century AD Until air-travel and electronic communication .

Example:
Composite bows and AK47
Composite bows :
Invented by the Egyptians as bow-saws , these spread . But to make a glued-together composite bow requires freedom of vibration . Ditto for other weapons . Pregnant women could not ride . The nomad Achilles Heel .

Any nomad people had to have peripheral permanent manufacturing and R&R settlements . We can even calculate their size . They must have been 1/3 of the total population .See previous posts on the size of Mongolian population .

The same holds for the modern equivalent : The AK47 .

The AK47 is the modern equivalent of the Composite bow .
It makes modern nomadism possible .

The fragmentation of states :
There are now more than 200 states in the UN . Most made possible by the rapid rate of fire of the AK47 and supplies by other fragmented super-power bloc states .

Can you see what is happening ?

The loose-cannon elements in the city-nomad dialogue is freed from the constraint of peripheral fixed bases .

For the moment . The guns can last a long time , but the ammunition has a fixed life-span . Fixed by the states that make them . A problem the Scythians or the Mongols did not have . Oh well .
This means a rapid collapse of unsupported freedom movements .

Meanwhile , back at the Ranch …

Capital from the West is still being exported to China (still perceived as a periphery) because returns are higher (Cf Roman Empire) .
But Chinese City-Nomad dialogue has been optimized using differential provincial mechanisms .

Internal China has been turned into a nomad system .
Peasants are nomads to the Special Economic Zones . If they can't hack it , they nomad back .

Like the US or Russia used to be before the death-grip of the large companies and banks , driven by UK or French capital .
( A good 2/3 of emigrants to the US West or Siberia went back home.)

But this time , it can be optimized into permanence .

This is what the City-systems of UK-US and France-Russia feared .
With good reason . Internal differential pressures can be maintained indefinitely in a large enough state . There is a threshold (attractor basin) where this becomes the norm

See previous posts . Seven to fourteen percent growth rates are at the lower end of the scale for this particular configuration . The next quantum step is 18 – 67 percent .

So why did Nomads not take over the world ?
They did .
Successful City states export their surplus population (eg ancient Greek , Roman , Celtic , Persian , Chinese ,London , Paris , etc) , who become nomads to their new colonies .

The nomads make cities and repeat the process .
A very old algorithm ( cf bacteria in their free-form and plaque stage .) We should be able to very decisively derive a threshold between the two .
A delicious analogue of the wave-particle duality .

Eg:
I go on a business trip to New York . I get made an offer by a multinational and become a nomad . I was a city-dweller until the decision to accept the offer to become a nomad . A typical wave-particle duality .

This process was decisively accellerated by technology .

We are living in the greatest age of Nomadism yet .

The nomads are known by different terms:
Emigrants , refugees , conquerors , businessmen , etc.

But all characterized that they unpack their parcel of civilization skills and defend them .

Look at the volkewanderungs in Europe after WWII .
They dwarfed anything in recorded history . And it is still going on

The greatest threat to ultra-conservative systems is this exact process . Hence the present armed response to cultural encroachments , both in the East and the West .
Called terrorism or war on terrorism .

Remember , the nomad unpacks his technological and cultural system and defends it with cheap , effective weapons (eg composite bow , AK47 , etc)

The IT specialist that hops on a plane at the whiff of a contract is a nomad .
The "refugee" is mostly a nomad , hopping the bus to a better life .
And he defends it by money .

The Mercenary has made a big comeback .
Now called a Security Contractor .
This was to be expected in a nomadic society .
If the base society is mobile , nobody feels the need to defend to the death .
This erodes the tax-base .
Large , permanent armed establishments only become affordable at need .

Intriguing is the reverse , where nationalistic security establishments (like the Red Army or US military-industrial complex ) have become more business-oriented .

The result are huge fractal armies .

Notice how dusty old memes are resurrected and polished up .
All present existing societies have had previous episodes of the same (eg condottieri , Marius , Sulla , Chinese Warlordism , etc , etc . The list is very long .)

As technology accellerates , this process will also accellerate .
No peace-time army can afford to keep up with the new technology . But the one with the second-best technology will lose .

The alternatives are :
1.Permanent high taxes , and a lot of wars This leads to exhaustion , especially in democratic , nomadic states . The tax-payers run away or vote them out .
2. Sell arms . A stop-gap solution . Eventually , one of your clients is going to tackle you .
3.Mercenaries . Nationalism has to degrade , as the commanders have to juggle priorities . Read "Anabasis" by Xenophon again to see what a commander in this system has to put up with .

Interesting Medical Correlation :
Note the correlation with medical technology .
They face exactly the same problems .
This is because the immune-bacteriological complex is a very good analogue of our society .

In other words , if the medical establishment cannot resolve the problems of Cost-Effectiveness , we will repeat them in the society .

As National Health Insurance goes , so will your society . But NHI is faster by at least two orders of magnitude .

What happened to the Huns ?
They phase-shifted from a free-form to a plaque form to use our above bacteriological analogy . The same people who were ravening barbarians abruptly changed into sedentary civilized persons .

This is actually the norm in humans .

Most white South Africans have undergone this transition. So also Germans , Eastern European Communists , medieval heathens of the Viking persuasion , Muslim Mongols , etc .

It is actually the same coin , seen from different sides .
And they can change back just as easily as we have seen in Yugoslavia , Germany , Uganda and countless other examples .

We can mirror this system back onto bacteria and calculate where an attack on the bacteria will trigger a phase change .

As I said , this threshold can be exactly calculated ,
as it derives from very old bacterial sources. It is not even difficult .
1. 1/3 as discussed in Reserves (see http://andreswhy.blogspot.com "New tools")
2. 1/3 of 1.3= 0.1111… (primary reserves of reserves (iterative): the salt of the earth)
3. 1/3 of 0.1111… = 0.0370… (3-4 percent . The percentage of officer material or attractive males in human populations by definition .)
4. 1/3 of 0.0370… = 0.01234567 …(notice the sequential numerals in base 10) Humans start getting very scratchy if this population percentile is attacked .It is seen as an exponentially escalating attack . Even bacteria will respond to this easily perceived escalation . (Resonance : why you have ten fingers)
5. 1/3 of 0.01234567… = 0.004115226337… Humans fight to the death or move if this percentile is attacked . Notice the base 10 repetition . ( 411 .. 522 ...633..) Once again this is interpreted as extreme but hidden escalation of aggression . The conscious mind is not usually aware of this sequence .
6. 1/3 of 0.004115226337 = 0.001371743112… Note the 137 . This ties in with some fundamental constants and ratios of infinite over finite growth
7. And so it goes .

Stand-down Negotiations .
Para 4 above in any direction will be interpreted by bacterial (or human) systems as an invitation to negotiation . It does not really matter in which direction it goes, though it is slightly easier in the decreasing direction .

In other words , not tit-for-tat , but halftit-for-tat or doubletit-for-tat , then 3tit-for-tat or 1/3tit-for-tat , then 4tit-for-tat or 1/4tit-for-tat , and so forth .

This is important , because it opens dialogue with bacterial subsystems of the human body . Not only infections and phene systems , but also metabolic systems like the sugar metabolism .

Once you have their attention , you must indicate a direction (the two are the same: these are not conscious systems)

How many terms are needed ?
From general theory we know that at least 4 terms are needed , but the system is much better with 5 terms .

DiabetesII
Dissolve 15 gm (3 tsp of sugar) into 150 (half-cup) of water .
Sip first 50 ml (3 tbs + 1tsp ) ,
then 40 ml(2 tbs +2 tsp)
then 30 ml(2 tbs +0 tsp)
then 20ml(1 tbs +1 tsp)
then 10 ml (2 tsp)

etc . This will get the attention of the system

What will happen is anybody's guess .

Maybe Mongols of the Serengeti will still happen .

Random Walk Bias

Random Walk Bias
Andre Willers
27 Jan 2010

Synopsis:
Randomness can be biased in two fundamental ways :
1.Inside the same Order of Randomness
2.Between different Orders of Randomness.

Discussion:
The Randomwalk algorithm:
1.Take step d1 from start .
2.Take step d2 in a random direction .
3 Repeat .
4.See where you end up and have traveled .

See Appendix A
Inside the same Order of Randomness
For beth(0)

From numerous other proofs , the Distance from center R = d*(n)^0.5
Where n is the number of beth(0) random steps .

This is the principle underpinning most of physics .

Between Orders of Randomness
Beth(n>0)
See http://andreswhy.blogspot.com "Randomness" , Orders of Randomness 2" , "New Tools" et al

An extraordinary thing happens .
Because elements of beth(n) are infinitely more numerous than elements of beth(n-1) , there is an "osmotic" pressure between different orders of randomness .

An observer describing the system is statistically more inclined to describe an element as belonging to Beth(n+1) than Beth(n) , simply because Beth(n+1) is infinitely more numerous .

This can be calculated reasonably exactly .
Zero-point energy
Negative mass , dark matter and other beasties .

Branes :
An obvious descriptive self-organization .

What does this mean ?
From the viewpoint of beth(0) , this looks like a compression . A particle .
Note that so-called Laws of conservation of Energy and Momentum only hold for beth(0) . The very existence of particles presupposes the axioms of finite information speed to enable beth(0) systems to clump together .

An infinite number of particles are possible . But not all particles are equal in terms of probabability of existence .

A particle:
We can then define a particle as interacting elements that have a difference between beth(n) and beth(n-x) smaller than any other that can be found . Notice the infinity .

The whole of quantum physics falls out as result of this definition . This includes transluminals .( ie those pesky instantaneous –action-at-a-distance)

Matter:
This can be seen as interactions between beth(n) and beth(n-x) systems. Ie self-organising clumping of energy .
We can then de-cohere matter (as previously discussed in Unpacking) .

Note that this will not release energy on the E=mc^2 model . (because most of the change(ie energy) is immediately repackaged .
I draw your attention to the ATP model of humans , where half of the body mass per day is created ATP , then immediately used . This is a beth(1) system .

All you need is chicken fat .

Squawk!
Andre .

Appendix A
Beth(0) Random Walk

R^2 = (sigma(d*sin(cos(x)) )^2 + (sigma(d*sin(sin(x)) ))^2
R^2 = d^2 * (Sigma 1 + F(sin(x)) )
R= d *(n)^0.5 … the random walk at beth)0)

F(sin(x)) à 0 if n àinfinity . The Beth(0) definition .Another way of putting it is that we can always find F(sin(x)) à 0 for a x .

For higher orders of beth this would not be true (by definition) .

Note that if d = (n)^(-0.5) like in Riemann's theorem , the expression can evaluate to a finite value , including zero .
See Riemann's theorem in previous posts .

Interesting fall-outs:
Any expression involving 1/n! (ie chopping things up )
See http://andreswhy.blogspot.com "Randomness" , Orders of Randomness 2"
are Beth(0) . This includes an expression like cos(ln(1/j))) . This would be an beth(0) expression as j->infinity . Which proves Riemann's Theorem .

Notice Riemann Orbitals
Surprisingly , they seem to be beth(0) . I would have thought at least beth(1) .
No wonder matter is so stable .

Goldbach's Conjecture : a proof.

Goldbach's Conjecture : a proof.
Andre Willers
24 Jan 2009

Synopsis :
A simple proof for Goldbach's conjecture using iterative systems and infinite descent .

Discussion:
Goldbach's conjecture : any positive even number can be written as the sum of two prime numbers .

Part 1
Assume the conjecture is true .
2n = p1 + p2 , where p is an odd prime number . ….(1)
p=2n+1 , where n is a positive integer >=0 ……….(2)

Iterate expression (2) into (1)

Every (2n) part can be expressed as another sum of p .

Iterate this m times until at least one p=3 (ie n=1) for the first time .
Let s be the number of terms terms of p equal 3 at this iteration .
Then
2n = sum(p) + m(m+1) - 2s ….(3)
where s must be equal to m(m+1)/2 for a true tautology .
This can only be true if m=1 if s=1 (see comments below . S is dependant on the number base , and can always be set to 1 .)
This means that there is always a sum of two primes equal to 2n .

Part 2
The inverse :
This is where we use the properties of prime numbers .
If even only case can be found where the sum of primes is equal to an even number , then the theorem must be true for all primes . (eg 7+11=18) . It sounds trivial , but it is true nonetheless .

Interesting comments:

1.Notice how the proof sidesteps the definition of primes except in Part 2. Some values can be adduced using the algorithm . (See equation (3) ) .

2.The problem with this sort of proof is always the infinite search space . What we have done is use a form of metalogic to show the general case .
Eq (3) can then be written in an iterative form
2(n-s) = sum(p) + m(m+1) ….(4)
The rest follows .

3.Note that sum(m) = m(m+1)/2 , as expected . There is a deep underlying logic to the iterative metasteps .

4.Expressing numbers in terms of different bases illustrates this
Why m(m+1) –2s =0 must be true if only one instance of the theorem is true .
S is dependant on the number base , which we can vary at will , but m is a pure counter (a metacounter , if you will) . We can always set s=1 by choosing the number base .

5. Notice the use of Infinite Descent .
A general expression is described in terms of constraints to a particular instance .
What is sauce for the goose must then be sauce for the gander .

6. Other uses .
Only beth(0) (ie aleph(0) ) infinite descent was used above .
The same technique can be used fruitfully to probe infinite feedback processes of higher orders of randomness .
See http://andreswhy.blogspot.com "Negative Evolution" et al

7.Other proofs:
Longer but easier proofs can easily be adduced .

Hint : Use the transformation 0 -> i0 in the definition of number .

Keep track of those pesky transfinitesimal zeros . You've only had them for 1500 years . Losing them is sheer carelessness .

Tora! Tora! Tora!

Negative Evolution.

Negative Evolution.
Andre Willers
20 Jan 2010

Synopsis:
Repeated Negative evolution is one of the most powerful mechanisms for searching information spaces .

Discussion:
See http://andreswhy.blogspot.com "Prodigies,Primitives and Cancers" et al.
Appended in Appendix A for ease of reference.

A quick and dirty approximation :
Apply the Negative Evolution (NEv) algorithm twice in succession . This leads to an equivalent Positive Evolution(ie pro-survival) position . But you do not end up at the same position you started from . This is because (A plus ~A < Universum) as discussed before .
This end result can also be a position in the information space that could not be reached from a purely Positive Evolutionary (PEv) algorithm .

Designers of catalysts take note .

Primitive Pairs :
NEv(1) + NEv(2) = PEv

But how can threshold energies be lower ?
The trick:
Fluctuations .
PEv fluctuates below the threshold and above the threshold because of beats in NEv(1) + Nev(2) . Reactions take place over the threshold . Some energies are recovered by NEv(1) + Nev(2) . From the outside it looks as if the total is at a lower threshold .

Another favourite is leverage . A trick the system learned from the water molecule . The Y shape is replicated , with suitable embellishments , in reactors like anti-bodies .

Leverage is also applied through folding , a protein favourite . Reactants are trapped in folds and subjected to fluctuating thermal , EM and mechanical pressure . Extremely high short range , short-term forces up to fusion levels are possible .See previous posts about chicken fat and Catastrophe folding .

Examples:
1.1. Enzymes These show the typical route of their origin : nested and sequential inhibitors of inhibitors . This also has the advantage of sensitive controls .
1.2.Gene inhibition in one of a pair . See how effective this is ?

2.Sociological:
2.1.The inhibition of vitC production in protohomonins led to obligate hunting .
2.2.The inhibition of amygdala controls led to protohomonin hysteria and ground dwelling (due to fear of falling) . See previous posts on the Hysterical Focus .

A Genetic Algorithm for Catalysts :
See http://andreswhy.blogspot.com "New Tools" "Reserves"
1.Slice and dice the problem into N pieces .
2.We know that approximately 1/3 is not amenable to manipulation , but we do not know which items .
3.Divide the mess into NVe(0)= 1/3 of items and the remainder into NEv(1)= into 1/3 of 2/3=0.22 and Nev(2) = 2/3 of 2/3 = 0.44 .
4.Write a Genetic Algorithm program that has negative feedback on NEv(1) and NEv(2) , but positive feedback on PEv , where PEv is the output of NEv(1) + NEv(2)
5.After (2^N) / 3 iterations or if system is stuck , pulse NVe(0) data at random into NVe(1) and NVe(2) .
6.The system fluctuates . Monitor fluctuations in PVe . Maximal PVe is your catalyst .
If it remains stable , an optimal has been reached ,

A simultaneous GRRR! And AARGH!

I hope this is not the best possible algorithm .

I trust you have identified NEv(1) and NEv(2) as politicians and shamans (of religious or scientific persuasion) in the above argument .
NVe(0) would translate as reason , real science and the rest of the long suffering slobs..

Negative feedback on these two means exactly that . Their function is to reduce and inhibit .
Dunderheads in charge is optimal for the system as a whole . Even in theory .
Is the best we can do ?

This is not exactly what I had in mind .
Surely there is a better algorithm to search the information spaces for survival paths .
The present one steps over literally trillions of bodies .

Is a better Algorithm possible ?
The above algorithm has been used for the last 4 billion years on earth .
But note that the fluctuations are of a beth(0) order of randomness .
See http://andreswhy.blogspot.com "Randomness" and "Orders of Randomness 2"
Higher orders of beth(randomness) will shorten the number of iterations to an optimal solution .

So better algorithms are possible .

A teensy , weensy problem . Anybody getting into social power under the present algorithm , turns into a dunderhead . This has been discussed before . It is due to restrictions of information flows in hierarchical systems . The higher you are , the less data you get . At least beth(1) techniques are necessary to get out of this trap .

Now you know why you never got anywhere by being smart .
The algorithm requires stupidity , stupid !

Prodigies , Primitives and Cancers
Andre Willers
9 May 2007

Synopsis :
Prodigies do things we can all do (like calculations , languages , music ) with little seeming effort or tuition , but only much better , faster and at an earlier age .It is often confused with intelligence .

Discussion :

Sources :
http://andreswhy.blogspot.com “Primitives” , “Primitives_1” , “Origins of War” and others.
www.vermonthistory.org/community/pages/projects/cabot for Zerah Colburn
General sources on prodigies and mind-body interactions .

Dedicated Brain Centers
Two dedicated hardwired neuron complexes are known from experimental evidence :
The language center (usually above the left ear ) and the counting complex . A music complex is very strongly suspected .

Various other emotional centers (amygdala) and memory centers are known . Many others are suspected . (Like eye-body co-ordination )

Please take note of the Neuronal Mirror argument .
These complexes above evolved from primal neuronal mirror set-ups .

A prodigy happens when a hardwired primitive neuronal complex replicates into the neuronal mirror arrangements . Because only non-simple encoding is used , this means a degradation of the functions usually done by these usurped mirror-neurons . This is at the cost of things like modeling other people (ie social skills) . Hence the prevalence of the lower end of the autistic spectrum in prodigies . ( Idiots savant )

As to be expected , there is a link between prodigies in arithmetic , language and music .

Prodigies (like William Hamilton of mathematics fame , or Zerah Colburn )were good at arithmetic and languages . The link between music and arithmetic is well known . Mozart’s linguistic skills are overshadowed by other events .

The problem is that well-known prodigies are the ones that were pushed by their parent(s) into notoriety . The smarter ones like Gauss , Macauly ,Young , etc learned to blend in .

Present day prodigies .
Where are they ?
Why , at the top end of most human endeavours . Top-class tennis players , golfers , chess-players , etc would qualify in earlier times as prodigies . Today they have to train hard 8 hours a day from early youth to be able to compete with the other prodigies . “Ordinary” people do not even get a look in .

Raw Talent .
A lightning calculator , if he survived the school system , might be lucky to get a job as a bookie’s runner or a croupier .

So you learned Greek , Latin , Finnish , Serbo-Croat and Basque at the age of five ? You have an interesting future as an interpreter at the UN .

You have a better chance in music . There are numerous schools for musical prodigies.

Fractal Identity Crises.
The hardwired primitive neuronal complex has an internal coding that is not simple .

It has to compensate for a temporal identity problem .

The complex assembles information very quickly ( some researchers say quantum effects are used , in which case it is instantaneous or from different time-sources ) .

Regardless , this information has to be presented to the rest of the brain in an usable fashion , with sequential markers .

For example , Mozart could comprehend an entire symphony in his overgrown musical complex . This had to be passed to the normal brain with sequential markers , so that he could scribble like mad from his simple memory to get a shadow of it in reproducible form .

Another example is a native speaker of a complicated language like Latin or Finnish . The complicated grammar arrives as an entirety , not worked out piecemeal .

This non-simple coding is very important , since it holds the key to identity markers , not only temporally but over other parameters as well .

As all my gentle readers will know , identity defineability is the key on how we know we are us , how the immune system recognizes our cells , how chromosome clusters are self-recognised , and all those other fractal identity crises .

This begs the question :
If we have identity resolution paradigms good enough to resolve an ID interface between a very fast (or multitemporal) complex , and the normal brain , why is it not used in the immune system ?

The answer is that it is used in this way , but sometimes the controls slip , or is programmed to slip .

The brain evolved from these systems , but we would expect some feedback .

Cancer Cells .
We refer to these bio-hazard labs as cancer cells . It is where evolution is put into fast-forward . ( See Scientific American of May 2007 p35 “ Chromosomal Chaos and Cancer”)

Have you ever wondered how complex organisms can even exist , when there are trillions of tons of bacteria , fungi , viruses ,etc in the world . By sheer numbers and breeding rate , they must outperform any organism’s defence system .

The Trick :
Any centurion will tell you this trick : discipline .

Aneuploidy is the main mechanism . This is a fancy name for shuffling chromosomes (ie the tried and trusted sexual mixer .) Only this mechanism is on steroids .

An unknown molecule is encountered.
The body does not know how it will affect the organism .
There are two ways to test it :
1. Live through it (potentially disasterous)
2. Test it in a fast-forward evolutionary biolab .

The body induces aneuploid cancer in a test cell .
This cell is nurtured by the body , deliberately bypassing all the evolutionary pressures of the environment or the immune system .
The test cell and its daughters have very rapid and semi-random chromosome shuffling . (This is also where all those null codons come into play.)
This cluster of cells forms a bio-hazard lab .

If they find a solution , it is communicated to the immune system and the lab is liquidated by apoptosis using the identity markers .

Can you see how this is more advantageous than living through it ?

If they do not , the cancer expands , resulting in the non-viability of the organism due to resource constraints .

But surely , an off-switch would have evolved ? If it could not find a solution to an unknown after n tries , it stops . Yes , but if the immune system had not recognised it the molecules will keep on arriving , triggering new explorations .

To recognize and “END” codon to a particular try to resolve a “new” molecule previously tried would require a memory of this molecule . Yet this is exactly what the immune system does not have , since it passed this molecule on to the cancer test lab . There does not seem to be a memory of previous cancer-lab experiments (understandably , since the resource requirements would overwhelm any finite system with simple coding .)

Is there a general “END” codon ?
The answer must be yes , since it appears in more evolved brain mechanisms . See also the languages of bacteria . (There is an Ur language , and various dialects .)

The particular information is stored epigenetically . The presence of the problem molecules in the mother’s womb gets tagged with a methylization complex , marking it as solved . Each new generation must resolve it anew .

What a horrible trap . Old age must be programmed in , since only by setting the “END” codon in the mothers womb can rubbishy molecules be prevented from triggering cancers . Mothers get partially reset , which is why they live longer .

Well , it helps to know that there is a single switch that will apoptise some cancer labs . It must be something simple , like the methylization of a geneplex that backpropagates .

Classical music:
Most people who listen to classical music live longer and look younger . This is because of the very recognizable “END” sequence to any symphony . The sequence entrains a neural process in the brain , which generates chemicals which signal “END ALL” sequences to the internal cancer labs .

This is one of the much threatened feedback from more developed parts of the being .
The storm of feedback from the brain creates a non-linear feedback system , with all that it implies .

The Q Trick

For example , Turing ( from Godel’s work ) proved way back in the 1930’s that a linear logic(computing) process cannot know when to stop if it looks only at internal logic . This is exactly what we said above . However , by using quantum processes , the system can know when to slam down an “END” .

This has to be communicated to the cell-complexes concerned . It is not sufficient to have a blanket “END” all the time , since the cancer-labs are vital to the health of the organism . Once a week seems sufficient , judging from the religious observances .

So what does this have to do with prodigies ?

Prodigies are the cancers of the body human .

They pretest which behaviours and talents will be acceptable .

Spiderman , Batman , Superman , etc
The same tired old lot :Hercules , Zeus , all the saints . I can’t remember all their names , or want to .

Bah . Do any of them even straddle the space-time crack ?

ATP as Neurotransmitter

ATP as Neurotransmitter
Andre Willers
18 Jan 2010

Synopsis :
ATP has been proven to be a neurotransmitter . Various receptor sites on cellwalls have been found as result of the Human Genome project . Important health considerations result .

Discussion :
See important article in ScientificAmerican Dec 2009 , p60 "The double life of ATP" by BS Khakh and G Burnstock (let us hope that nominative determinism does not hold sway .)
Beg , borrow , steal or buy a copy .

See http://andreswhy.blogspot.com "ATP and Catalytic Motors" . Appended in Appendix A for ease of reference .

Crackpot duckling into Swan :
The effect had been clinically demonstrated since 1959 , but disregarded as not fitting into the accepted model .
The isolation of certain ATP and ADP receptors in 1993 and 1994 , as well as development of Clopidogrel to prevent clot formation led to greater acceptance .
The Human Genome Project led to the genes for receptor sites of ATP and it's various breakdown products . It is now a Hot Subject (ie fashionable) . A number of drugs are in various development stages .
A lot of money , major health items and knowledge is in play .

A Brief Description .
It is a very elegant mechanism . Also very old .

1. ATP = Adenosine + P + P + P
= AdenosineTriPhosphate
2. ABP= AdenosineBiPhosphate (the last phosphor atom has been stripped away . This is energy bond powering the muscles)
3. AMP= AdenosineMonoPhosphate . Only one phosphor atom .
4. Adenosine is adenosine (a purine) without any phosphor atoms .

Every cell has specialized receptor sites on the surface that interacts with one or a combination of these compounds . This gives at least 2^4=16 possible basic receptor types .
See http://andreswhy.blogspot.com "Phene Systems"

The information being triggered is in the cell-wall (the Phene system) . This causes various portals to open or close , influencing sodium , calcium , etc balances in cellular substructures (including DNA in the chain)
See http://andreswhy.blogspot.com "Unpacking and packing information"

Surrounding the cells are class of enzymes called EctoATPases that sequentially strip away the phosphor atoms from ATP .
See http://andreswhy.blogspot.com "Chaperones , unpacking and asthma"

This stripping of phosphor atoms makes the whole system workable by creating four unique markers necessary and sufficient for a three dimensional contiguous information space.

A teensy little problem is : where does all this energy go ? Heating up the synaptial fluid seems to be a result . Is this essential for multi-cellular life ? The intercellular information transfer spaces are then always hot and ready to roll . Certainly , it would give a great advantage to even a cold-blooded lifeform . The energy costs would not be very high .

From an evolutionary viewpoint , it is easy to see that a temperature control mechanism in synaptial fluids expanded into the whole organism in a random mutational-selection process .

But what is the original mechanism ?
See ApendixA "Throttle"
It must involve the production speed of ATP : ie the rotational speed of the rotor in the mitochodria .
There are two known ways to influence this:
1.Melatonin
Ironically , sleep seems to be basically necessary to give synaptical spaces a chance to cool down . If they grow too hot , the other neurotransmitters start breaking down and the well-known dementia of sleeplessness results . Obviously , the immune system is affected as well . This whole ATP signaling system is part of the immune control-system .
Note the correlation of symptoms between heat-stroke , sleeplessness and forms of dementia associated with various neurotransmitter shortages .

2.APS generator .
(See AppendixA)
The pulsed waveform will not only speed up lagging mitochondrial rotors, but also slow down ones that are too fast (ie overproducing ATP) . This should ameliorate synaptial fluid overheating .
Ideally , we should have an APS generator that can force a desired spin rate on any set of organs . But the one we can buy now is set at 3 milliseconds .

Remember , a standard human produces about 40 Kg of ATP per day (See AppendixA)

An useful analogue:
Using the energy transmission conduit also as an information transmission route is used in electrical systems . You can buy a system that uses the electrical wiring of your home to transmit music , video , internet , etc .
The analogue goes both ways , since the problems with the electrical system will also be experienced in the ATP system .

Known systems using ATP as neurotransmitter:
1.Blood vessel constriction : ATP as co-neurotransmitter with noradrenaline .
2. Blood vessel dilation : shear stress->ATP->NO->vessel relaxation.Part of the feedback system .
3.Blood clotting: platelets have ADP receptors.
4.Cell proliferation : eg restinosis , various cancers . See Phene control system .
5.Eye: acetylcholine and ATP are co-neurotransmitters.
6.Ear :about 50% of cochleal hairs have ATP receptors.
7.Taste:as expected , evolutionary old chemical receptors like taste or smell do not function without ATP receptors(in this case P2X2 and P2X3 receptors) .
8.Pain and touch: mainly the P2X3 receptor .
9.Neuropathy :
See http://andreswhy.blogspot.com "Neuropathy"
P2X receptors are involved .
10.Digestive system:
Irritable bowel syndrome and Crohn's disease :P2X and P2Y receptors are involved .
11.Clotting :
Existing drugs Clopidogrel and Prasugrel blocks P2X12 receptor .
12.Tumors , developmental diseases , etc .
13.Disease regulation using bacterial ATP signaling.
14.Old Age
Apoptosis and ATP quorum mechanisms await exploration .

The Phene System:
It seems that the ATP signaling systems plays an important part in the meta-control system of multi-cellular organisms (multi-cellular includes a single cell with a mitochondrium by definition) .

We know that viruses encapsulated by cell-wall material is the signaling mechanism of cells .

Speculation : Distributed Viruses .
That ATP , ADP , AMP and Adenosine plus receptor sites form a distributed virus
The crystal structure of the P2X receptor looks like a typical virus . It only needs the key(s) to activate . As expected from a phene control mechanism , it regulates activities in the cell via switching on or off of genes in the DNA .
(See how handy the concept of phenes is ?)

Even more speculative :
Do not try this without qualified supervision .
Diseases like AIDS , cancer or old age must interact with the ATP signaling system at some stage . Quorum systems play a role (why we use melatonin)
Slow down the mitochondrial rotors with melatonin , and simultaneously entrain them with a APS generator on selected organs . Pulse if necessary .
This will hopefully break interlocked feedback cycles .

Interestingly , this should work on fevers as well , as well as disrupt quite a few viral diseases .

A hot time in the old town tonight .

Andre .

Appendix A

ATP and Catalytic Motors
Andre Willers
4 Dec 2008

The Catalytic Motor.
See Annexure A below .
This is a new concept to me .

The basic principle :
The chemical equilibrium of a reaction is biased in a certain direction by dynamical , rotational processes .

And not in a trivial way either . A whopping 40 kg per day production and consumption of ATP for a sedentary human (of say mass 80 kg) means a very finely balanced mechanism . (Half of body mass per day)

The logistical demands almost necessitate a multi-cellular organism .

Where does the rotor come from ?
From bacterial flagellae . They work by rotation of the flagella .(Google it)
The rotor is driven by proton gradients , caused by electron-flow balances between inflowing nutrients and usage .

Putative evolution :
The ur-mitochondrium was a free organism whose flagellae by chance could beat two poisons (oxygen and alcohol) into harmless ATP . As if protein-folding was not complicated enough , now dynamics have to be considered as well .
As the concentrations of these poisons increased , ur-mitochondria did the usual plaque - freeform alternation of bacteria . In every colony episode , the efficiency of the conversion was enhanced . At some stage , a freeform colonized some other bacterium . The host learned to use ATP as an energy source . Multicellular forms were force-formed .
The motors of the mitochondria cannot stop spinning . (If they do , apoptosis results: see Appendix B) . The ATP has to be used .

Rotor-spin speed:
This seems to be quite slow . (As expected from a flagella heritage) . About one to three milliseconds per revolution . ( About 1 to 0.3 kHz) . The ATP production is not smooth either . There are three units physically opening and closing (see Appendix A).

A very useful analogue:
We can use an national electricity grid operating at 1 kHz alternating current of three-phase current as an tool for understanding the meta-energy flow in the body . Every cell would be like a municipality with its own powerstation .
The voltage and transformers ? Nobody has looked , but a guess would be ATP concentration regulators , like the reticular cellular formations , antioxidants (see Appendix B) , ATP chaperones , cellular-wall ports , etc . You get the drift .

The advantage of this approach is that we then have an immediately usable box of tools to analyze and suggest fruitful new approaches .
Our electricity networks would also gain , since evolution has been at this problem for a tad longer than humans .

Melatonin for ESKOM ? Some would say they are asleep at the switch in any case .

Throttles .
There seems to be a wee problem here .
The problem seems to be too much energy , not too little .
Most organisms normally spend 1/9 to 1/3 of 24 hours actually getting enough to eat . The rest is spent having fun or sleeping .
But a certain reserve needs to kept (see http://andreswhy.blogspot.com "Infinite Probes" et al )

Sleep:
There is a strong suspicion that melatonin throttles down the production of ATP , but not the usage of ATP (cf fMRI scans of sleeping brains) See Appendix B . Sleep would then be necessary to keep the organism out of trouble (ie quiescent) while surplus ATP is used up . (1/3 : eg 8 hours per day)

Obesity epidemic:
As can be seen from the above , the problem is not a sudden influx of energy-rich food .This has been a trouble since the first mitochondrium took up housekeeping in a host cell .
The obesity is caused simply by a lack of sleep .
Present generations sleep less . Artificial lighting , computers , cinema , etc . The extra waking time is also usually spent eating .
The equilibrium is upset . (This has been going on for about 100 years on a large scale) .

An interesting result is the generational increase in IQ measurements . The system is trying to soak up the extra energy in more complex nervous structures (for which it has the evolutionary tools) . An epigenetic feedback loop is suspected .

Kids who stay up late for three generations will be fatter and smarter .

Diabetes .
Melatonin has many effects . Lack of it causes neuro-degenerative complications (see Appendix B) . Included is peripheral neuropathy . This is where we can use our useful little model of an electricity grid above . Without the feedback from the damaged nerves , the system cannot shift loads . Just monitoring the glucose level is too coarse. Fluctuations build up . Future load estimations cannot be made . Fat builds up .

Old Age
Lack of sleep during old age leads to glucose metabolic complications for all the reasons mentioned , regardless whether the person is obese or not .

Other throttles are rendered less effective by lack of materials:
Specifically , sulfur (H2S hibernation throttle) , chrome (cytochrome oxidase : see Appendix B) , alpha lipoic acid(nerve repair) , melatonin .

Homeostasis is another useful little energy soak .
Large brains ditto .

But Culture , hot or cold , is master of them all .
Nothing soaks up energy like culture . Fashion is by far the largest industry on the planet , outstripping even food production .
Eg sports is a fashion . Clothes .Entertainment . Tourism . Even lies . (JK Rowling is the most fashionable and richest professional liar in Britain .)

What is the culture of your mitochondria ?

An Actual , Physical ATP generator you can buy .
See www.apstherapy.com
This is a well-known and clinically proven machine usually touted for pain-relief .
It works .
But the theory is rather patchy . There used to be a lot of mumbo-jumbo about the gate theory of pain .

It actually works by alleviating the underlying causes of the pain (see scans on website) . It does this by pumping energy into the ATP-rotors from the outside at the damage site .

It does this by sending 3-millisecond square pulses which decay exponentially (see wave-form on web-site .) This spins up damaged rotors and transfers energy (a non-food source of energy) . Most importantly , it re-establishes timing mechanisms . Cells on the point of mitochondrial apoptosis can be salvaged . (The apoptosis mechanism is very sensitive , due to all the feedback mechanisms involved.)
While the energy input here is small , the energy of an ATP molecule is not exactly large . And the ATP is targeted exactly at the damage site . This helps to stop the cascade effect of trauma-shock .

Your attention is drawn to the well-known effects of aligned magnetic fields on bone-healing . A similar thing happens here .
Notice the effects of zero electro-magnetic fields on early astronauts .(Their metabolisms went haywire) . They had to be supplied with artificial fields .

Speculations:
Energise organisms directly by high-energy em-waves .
Are there any like that already ? The planet is awash with em waves and organisms with flagellae .
Deep ocean , moons of Jupiter or Saturn springs to mind .

An actual cure for diabetes by re-establishing communications between cell-groups to do proper load-sharing .
Also useful for cases of paralysis or strokes .

Fat-loss without dieting or exercising . Fashionable .
Targeted , too .
Spin up the mitochondrial rotors with em-waves , then wash out the surplus ATP in urine after fixing this ATP with something like a mono-clonal anti-body .
Get rid of that cellulite !

Cheating at sports . (Even more fashionable)
A focused em-wave of the right form will boost ATP production of an athlete or horse at that critical instant , and is nearly undetectable .

Muscle building for the gym-brigade .
Eg the machine for training the biceps can have an em-generator focused on the biceps while training . Saturation by ATP will hopefully rapidly increase muscle mass.

MRI problems .
As you will have gathered , alignment of mitochondrial rotor-spins by a powerful magnetic field as found in MRI machines can have unfortunate effects if the patient is soon afterwards exposed to em radiation of periods of 3 milliseconds (or beats thereof)

Melatonin and DHEA supplements should form part of the old age package (like statins , etc) .

Nanotech should be able to do really interesting things .

And so it goes round and round .

Andre

ATP Generator Structure – Function
Almost incredibly, a sedentary adult makes and uses 40 kg of ATP per day! ATP is made by the F0-F1 ATPase, a molecular motor with a rotating shaft and fixed "stator". One end of the shaft, F0, is buried in the mitochondrial inner membrane where the proton gradient causes it to rotate. A single gamma subunit connects the F0 to three alpha and beta subunits, together F1, which are responsible for synthesizing ATP from ADP and Pi (H2PO4-). As a catalytic motor and not just a catalyst, the F0-F1 ATPase is able to increase the rate of reaction away from the equilibrium (which strongly favors the reverse reaction, hydrolysis, because the concentrations of reactants and product in mitochondria are similar). The gamma subunit rotates too slowly, in the microsecond-to-millisecond range, for standard molecular dynamics simulation. To solve this, the authors applied "biasing forces" as the motor moved and assumed these forces would not change the mechanism. Positively charged amino acids on the gamma subunit attract negative amino acids on beta subunit, producing smooth and efficient ionic coupling. Rotation of the gamma subunit induces the opening of the beta subunits. The beta subunit closes spontaneously. Synthesis is not the reverse of hydrolysis, explaining why high concentrations of free ATP does not inhibit synthesis. Gao and colleagues propose a detailed model of how the motor harnesses the proton gradient to act against the equilibrium. Their quantitative model is based on the conceptual “binding change mechanism” model proposed by Boyer, where ATP synthesis proceeds by each beta subunit changing from “open”, weak nucleotide binding, to “tight”, high affinity ATP binding, to “loose”, with the release of ATP. The authors used this model to make accurate predictions about synthesis and hydrolysis kinetics and they invite others to test their detailed model.

Melatonin, mitochondria, and cellular bioenergetics.

Acuña-Castroviejo D, Martín M, Macías M, Escames G, León J, Khaldy H, Reiter RJ.

Departamento de Fisiología, Instituto de Biotecnología, Universidad de Granada, Spain.

Aerobic cells use oxygen for the production of 90-95% of the total amount of ATP that they use. This amounts to about 40 kg ATP/day in an adult human. The synthesis of ATP via the mitochondrial respiratory chain is the result of electron transport across the electron transport chain coupled to oxidative phosphorylation. Although ideally all the oxygen should be reduced to water by a four-electron reduction reaction driven by the cytochrome oxidase, under normal conditions a small percentage of oxygen may be reduced by one, two, or three electrons only, yielding superoxide anion, hydrogen peroxide, and the hydroxyl radical, respectively. The main radical produced by mitochondria is superoxide anion and the intramitochondrial antioxidant systems should scavenge this radical to avoid oxidative damage, which leads to impaired ATP production. During aging and some neurodegenerative diseases, oxidatively damaged mitochondria are unable to maintain the energy demands of the cell leading to an increased production of free radicals. Both processes, i.e., defective ATP production and increased oxygen radicals, may induce mitochondrial-dependent apoptotic cell death. Melatonin has been reported to exert neuroprotective effects in several experimental and clinical situations involving neurotoxicity and/or excitotoxicity. Additionally, in a series of pathologies in which high production of free radicals is the primary cause of the disease, melatonin is also protective. A common feature in these diseases is the existence of mitochondrial damage due to oxidative stress. The discoveries of new actions of melatonin in mitochondria support a novel mechanism, which explains some of the protective effects of the indoleamine on cell survival.

A Quantum Probe Algorithm

A Quantum Probe Algorithm
Andre Willers
7 Jan 2010

Synopsis:
Rare events where the observer interferes with the measurement can be analysed .

Discussion :
Existing technology :
In the new generation computational cameras , a low-definition video is taken at n frames a second . If an interesting event occurs , the camera-person presses the shutter button and a series of very high definition pictures are shot . The software then calculates what the enhanced picture at the time of the interesting event looked like .
Here , memory limitations prevent n high-def pictures a second .

Why is this significant ?
In quantum probes , the probe disturbs the event . (The Heisenberg principle)
The limitation is the interference in a high-def picture .
But we can keep an eye at a low definition (ie low disturbance) , then backtrack after an interesting event , utilizing high-def pictures from after the event . A poor man's time machine .

Some Applications :
1.History (the argument is scale-free if feedback systems are involved)
Examine history books . They are mostly about events after crux-points .

2.Psychology – ditto .

3.Physics
Large Hadron Collider. (LHC)
Sensors all over . And they wonder why it is so obstreperous . (Cf Tokamak)

The paranoid will say that it did enable some primitive time-travel . The time-travellers very sensibly took over control , leading to the interruption of operation while they consolidate in this time-line .
And into the Singularity we slide .

4. Stochastic Resonance and the Stutter Effect
If the same interesting event is replayed (the Stutter Effect) , measured chaos can be introduced to give a Stochastic Resonance . The most interesting is when the stutter effect is incorporated into stochastic resonance .
(ie religions masquerading as science , but also real information on the nature of the component systems .)

An example is high temperature superconductors (see NewScientist28 Nov 2009 p 19 "Warm wire to superconductor" , where cold spots are stuttered along warmer lengths.
The system has a stochastic resonance , using the hot spaces as randomization .
See also http://andreswhy.blogspot.com "Acropolis and Catastrophe theory" et al for more precise molecular configurations .

5.Cold Fusion.
Do not clutter it up with sensors . They will squelch the reaction . The reason is obvious from the above .

Macroscopically yours
Andre .

Synopsis :
Create more food-producing acreage by using skyscraper technology .

Discussion :
See http://www.verticalfarm.com
http://ag.arizona.edu/ceac
Scientific American Nov 2009 p60 " The rise of vertical farms"

This is an old idea .
Laube and allotments are two dimensional variants . Seafarms and vertical skyscraper farms are three-dimensional variants .

Seafarms are as old or older than land agriculture .
Cf sea-weirs on stoneage seasites .
Cf Chinese fishfarms .
Skyscraper farms were inherent in the multistory lake-dwellings in Europe . Note the grassy roof , for intense cultivation . (Now being reintroduced)

Why the present reluctance to invest capital ?
Collapse Sensitivity is the main reason .
After a number of collapses (over thousands of years) , the surviving systems are very sensitive to single-points of failure .

While present agro-business is just as vulnerable to failure as Vertical Farms , the people in control of capital allocation do not see it that way .

They invest in the model that has the shortest distance to subsistence farming , the failsafe of our civilization .
However , with the present overpopulation , an agricultural failure will not leave subsistence farming as a failsafe fallback .

A heavily defended vertically integrated farm is more viable . Something like this has already happened in the form of monasteries during the Dark Ages .

The Key:
Package every Vertical Farm with a certain acreage of organic farms .
This should unblock the unconscious reluctance to allocate capital .

Some speculations:
1.Cyborg trees .
Much has been made of cyborg humans .
What about cyborg trees ?

We already have vertical farms: Palm trees and coconut trees can be completely utilized (100%) . But we want something hundreds or thousands of meters high , that grows quickly but durably , with fruits all year round .

A cyborg tree . Part organic , part steel , concrete and electronic . Largely self-regulating . A Druid's paradise or hell .
Monkeyform humans .

2.Underwater cyborg mangroves .
Real seafarming in enclosed mangrove-root pockets .
Merman humanoforms .

3.Orbital Forests .
Put the trees in orbit and have roots that dangle into the atmosphere to soak up the CO2 .

Cf aerial forests .

The cyborg tree (carbon and diamond fibre) would be shaped like a hairy bola , spinning with the rotation of the earth in Low Earth Orbit . Solar energy differences would supply power . The roots would be nearly stationary relative to the planet at the lowest point inside the atmosphere .. Nutrients like CO2 , water , volcanic debris , etc would be combed out of the atmosphere .

Intelligence would be supplied by humanoforms and AI's . This would have to be integrated with the planetary ecology , else this system will strip the planet bare .

4.Cyborg Tree Space Habitats .
This has been discussed in science fiction . Wood makes an excellent vacuum construction material . Interlaced with waterbearing veins , it is a good shield against radiation . All you need is carbon , water , some trace elements and intelligence.

A good space habitat . But you will have a lot of birds , exploding into all the habitat niches .

You can't keep a good tweety down .

Peripheral Neuropathy .

Peripheral Neuropathy .
Andre Willers
18 Dec 2009

Synopsis :
Chronic neuropathy results from the inability to activate the "Off" switch in microglial and astrocyte bodies in the dorsal root ganglion .
See Scientific American Nov 2009 p 33 .

Discussion .

These bodies monitor the frequencies of pulses of neurotransmitters from the neuron . If there is neural damage (like with acrylamide cf) , they detect this and increase the sensitivity of the neurons , while also releasing cytokines and some interleukins for repairs . (ie inflammatory response .)

The "Off"-switch for these systems could do with some redesign .
The off-switch is related to the percussive frequency of the heartbeat . And this has harmonics with the length of the spine . And this changes with posture .

The percussion changes the densities of fluid inside the dorsal ganglion , influencing the pulses of neurotransmitters . Note that microglia are responsible for re-uptake of neurotransmitters . Cf prozac. Cf yoga .

If they kick in , fewer neurotransmitters are recycled . Boosting the signal .

If the heartbeat returns to normal , fine .

But , stress .

The kicker is the length of the spine .

This changes the resonances inside the dorsal root ganglion . The microglia and astrocytes do not switch off . Neural sensitivity is enhanced , and typical peripheral neuropathy symptoms ensue .
Like when you lie down to sleep .

What to do .

1."Put a bolster under the bum , mum ."
Compress the spine mildly by putting a cushion under the bum , while having high cushions for the upper torso . This enables the off-switch .
This actually works . (like sitting in small gravity)

2.Click
Percussions , either by mouth , or mechanical , can modify synapse responses .
Cf all those relaxing massages .
Some skill needed .

3.Retrain the system .
Even more skill needed .

A note on the Gate-theory of Pain .
Using something like capsaicum is a very short-term solution . From the argument above , the system will habituate as the microglials and astrocytes compensate for the storm of incoming signals .
Ditto for more powerful pain stillers .

Some intriguing speculations:
1.Phantom limb pain .
Try compressing the limb in imagination . The chronic pain switches should then at least have a chance of switching off .
Do it even with existing limbs .

2.Alcohol .
The energy systems powering the microglials have the same imperatives as the rest of the mitochondria : alcohol has to be metabolized first .
A prolonged pulse of alcohol then causes an absence of pain . The pulses simply do not happen , and upstream consequences in the amygdala does not occur .

This causes an interrupt/reset in the microglial system . Which is why it so popular with humans .

The microglial system is the memory of pain . A little bit is good , but too much leads to learned helplessness and catatonia .
And the off-switch is interrupted by lying down .

Delicious !

Shaken or stirred .

Factoring the product of primes .

Factoring the product of primes .
Andre Willers
14 Dec 2009

Synopsis :
Iterative systems are needed to get results .

Discussion :
The physical solution .
Take a number N . Make a circular mirror where Circumferance=N. Shine a sharp light from anywhere on the inner rim and rotate it , shining the light around the circumferance. Have a light-sensor at the back of the light-source . If the sensor shows a maximum , stop . The factors can then be calculated .

The Point :
This is an in principle argument .
Anything that can be done like this should be possible using mathematics .
This is a fundamental assumption in present society . Not even mentioned , usually .

Yet , RSH and other systems use the difficulty of factoring the product of large primes as secure systems .

But if a known physical solution cannot be described in mathematical terms , we are in deeper doo-doo than a few encryption problems .

Iterative systems .
See http://andreswhy.blogspot.com "The inside of zero"
The multiplicative system can be described as :
Sin(pi/(n+2)) = Sin(pi/(n+1)) + n^2/N *tan(pi/(n)) … an iterative process .
Where N is the number to be factored , and n a factor .
This can be stated by
Y = Sin(pi/(n+2)) –Sin( n(pi/(n+1))) - n^2/N *tan(pi/(n))
Using Newtonian approximation . AsY->0 , n->factor .
Any N can be factored .

This is a double application of iterative processes , using the interchangeability of n and the counter . (A neat cheat.)

But what does it mean ?
At least two infinite processes are needed to get some meaningful results that a physical experiment gives immediately .

It means that no theory of everything is possible . Any description will always be two infinities behind . Regardless .

As expected .

Medical Masque Effect. (MME)

Medical Masque Effect. (MME)
Andre Willers
11 Dec 2009

Synopsis:
An artifact of successful medical intervention .
Some Disease X evolves to masquarade as Disease Y . Medical intervention is for Disease Y , leaving the field clear for Disease X . Common in rapidly evolving pathogens like fungi . The system invariably becomes more contagious .

Discussion .

Example :
Eczema of the skin on the hands .
This is ascribed to stress , based on work done decades ago . In the meantime , some fungi , whose symptoms initially appeared similar to the stress-eczema , were positively selected by differential diagnosis .
Contagiousness was also a positive selection criteria .
The result is a veritable epidemic of old-fashioned fungi-based eczema , but misdiagnosed .
Treating the eczema with something like Daktarin gives rapid relief .

The intriguing thing :
The disease evolved into the niche created by a successful medical treatment .
It relies on the masquerade for a mis-diagnosis .
How many others are there ?
And how big a danger is it in future ?

The more successful the medical intervention , the greater the selection pressure for a masque .
This is old-fashioned Darwinnian selection in action . Nothing fancy .

New Building Syndrome .
I observed this first-hand (so to speak) after moving into a brand-new corporate headquarter building . Suddenly I got eczema . Then I observed (in the lift and in conferences) that about 30%-40% of my colleagues also had the same problem . Nobody wanted to talk about it , and the company had a good medical aid . They went to their private doctors and the data was not correlated from an epidemiological viewpoint .

What happened ?
The new building did not have an existing ecology of skin organisms transmitted by surfaces like lift-buttons , door handles , tap handles , air conditioning , etc .
And brand-new ablution facilities .

Masquerading fungi with some contagious element were strongly selected . The result was an epidemic of eczema , incorrectly treated as stress symptoms .

Later on other organisms populated the building and incidences returned closer to normal .

Medical staff more at risk .
Scrubbing up or using alcohol handwashes leaves the hands more vulnerable to these masques .

What to do :
I wrote about this previously . The ecology of the skin is a fairly hot subject at the moment .

Malign organisms find it 1 000 to 10 000 more difficult the get a foothold in an existing ecology .

What we need is an appliqué of benign skin-ecology organisms . Something similar to pro-biotics for the intestines .
I do not know of any now .
A huge commercial opportunity . A really large market . (About 10 billion hands a few times a day)

Quick and Dirty :
After an alcohol handwash to decrease harmful bacterial imports from supermarket trolley-handles , computer keyboards and the like , simply rub your hands across your belly under your shirt , palms and back . I would not recommend permanently moist sites like the arm-pits , groin or fatfolds if your immune system has been compromised in any way .
The aim is to reinfect the hands with benign skin organisms , to counteract the destruction of both benign and malign organisms on the hands .

Commercial opportunities :
Individuals with tested benign skin-ecologies will be able to sell them . Can sell them right now .
Like perfume .

By gad ! A new Miss World category ! Highly marketable .
"All our skin wipes are from Miss Purity , rated 9.9 for the Skin Benign."
"Our toilet paper is from Miss Baby Bottom , rated 9.9 for the Skin Benign."

Advantages
1.It is patentable.
2.It has an actual beneficial effect.
3.It is fashionable (amenable to mass-media) .

This is worth many billions of dollars .

As a side effect , many chronic skin diseases and other diseases will disappear .

Weight loss .
This is speculative .
Certain weight disorders (anorexia , diabetesII , big bums and thighs , etc) have fractal epidemiological aspects . Exactly like the skin disorders .

Wrinkles especially ditto .

HIV .
This is even more speculative .
Note the common element of very rapid mutation .

What would HIV be the masque of ?
Answer: Adjuvant block by lead poisoning .

Bushmeat only became deadly after the introduction of firearms : ie lead pellets .
Shotguns . Lead pellets were cooked and ingested . Lead is a rare metal .
Cf Roman and Greek plagues .
But the effect is subtle . An adjuvant is blocked , leading to lessening of the auto-vaccination effect .
The immune system is hobbled .

The adjuvant can be added (probably something simple .These are not complex systems . Like gout) . A simple cure is possible . The disease is a masque .

Or simply remove the lead . Pb can be chelated out .

Note the correlation of HIV with lead additives in petrol or in shotgun pellets .

Get the lead out , Mac!

Sign Language and Mental Stability.

Sign Language and Mental Stability.

Andre Willers

9 Dec 2009

Synopsis:

Sign language by-passes the amygdala because of muscle memory . Traumatic memories are not triggered . This happens at synapse level . Feedback from sign-level mentation bypasses and even moderates amygdala responses.

Discussion :

Amygdala memories can be edited via processes like Propranolol + good therapist .

But they can be simply bypassed .

Internal mental dialogue between mirror-neuron networks normally include the amygdala , and give rise to PTSD responses . A totally unrelated language like sign-language or Click bypasses the amygdala and can actually be used to reprogram some amygdala memories .

This means greatly enhanced stability, as the system learns to use systems not involving the amygdala .

Why ?

The amygdala has a ferocious memory system evolved to trigger on even one repeat of a previous traumatic episode . Note auto-immune responses , which fall in the same class .

(Hint : treat auto-immune with propanolol and edit immune system via amygdala )

In typical synaptic fashion it is of the nature

IF x(1),x(2),x(3),…,x(n) THEN Response . Every time .

The Response feedbacks into the amygdala , initiating the well-known stress-responses .

Such a system is difficult to retrain .(To put it mildly)

There are hardwired trapdoor functions which seem to have no reverses (except propanolol and it’s like)

Bypassing it is easier , then modify Response .

The system will then modify eventual response , but not amygdala memory .

Bypassing the Amygdala:

Muscle-memory is classified as part of Response . If it was a part of the Input in amygdala memory structures intolerable feedback-loops would lead to uncontrollable spasms (some diseases) .

Sign-language (body language)

This is then independent of the amygdala .

Click
This is partially independent , because any initial trauma has first to be translated into Click , then passed through amygdala TraumaCentral .

Few natural sounds are Clicks .

Differentiation is an essential requirement for a signal .

Hypnosis
This also bypasses the amygdala , but extreme caution is advised .

Keep your fat fingers out of the gears unless you really know what you are doing .

The mental stability bit :

You can see where that comes from . Having a feedback loop not involving the amygdala damps down the uncontrolled feedback loops from the amygdala . It would be interesting to see the stats on psychotics in sign-language populations . My guess is that it will be very low .

Music.

Music is like Click . It normally bypasses the amygdala , but can be written to initiate partial feedback loops .

Hence compulsive bestselling tunes , the Suicide Walz , Wagner , etc.

Used by humans in the twentieth and twentyfirst centuries as counter-propaganda mechanisms . For every ad there are twenty ipods .

A mechanism for mental stability .

Dancing and Muscle Memory , mit music and all .

See previous posts on fingertapping and fundamental local computing networks for rapid muscle reaction .

Singing .

Does this bypass the amygdala ?

No . But you can load any number of extras on to have a partial stimulation and moderate via dancing or sign-language .

Note that musical instruments and singing techniques were the only elements that were never lost over the ages . Civilizations may come and go , but the musicians and singers remain .

Lies

The amygdala mechanism exists to prevent physiological lying . The lockout-mechanism prevents extreme events except if warranted . By bypassing them , we sign mother natures little warranty . You have been warned .

Summary :

If you want a second handle on life , learn sign language and take up dancing

I could have danced all night .

Myopia .

Myopia .

Andre Willers

4 Dec 2009

Synopsis :

Progressive myopia is driven by the peripheral focus being slightly longer than fovea focus . The eyeball elongates to compensate , making the fovea focus myopic .

Discussion.

See important article in NewScientist of 7 Nov 2009 p49 "Generation Specs"

Progressive myopia .

Peripheral vision is the evolutionary driver . It is more important for the organism to have good peripheral focus than good central (fovea) focus . Sheer geometry dictates this . The peripheral vision covers a much larger area than the fovea . It is critical for the organism to notice any small change in this peripheral space . (ie predators) . Fine focus is thus more important in evolutionary terms for the peripheral vision .

While we normally think of the eyeball as static , it actually adapts in length to keep the peripheral vision in focus . This makes the central fovea part blurry . Myopia results . To make matters worse , corrective lenses tend to shift the peripheral focus back . The system then tries to compensate by lengthening the eyeball more . We get progressive myopia . You need stronger and stronger glasses .

Myopia and open-air .

A strong correlation was found between time spent outdoors and myopia .

The study was done on about 1200 Chinese children in Singapore and Australia .

Result

Sydney children : 14 hr/week outdoors led to 3% myopia.

Singapore children : 3 hr/week outdoors led to 30% myopia

The critical factor seems to be time spent outdoors . It is theorized that light intensity (influencing dopamine production , which reduces eyeball–growth) and distance focusing and peripheral vision have the major effects . Excercise seemed to have very little effect .

Optimization :

From the above rather sparse data , a first approximation is

MyopiaRate = k / OutdoorRatePerWeekSunlight

Where k = 0.007857 +- 36%

Rather iffy data , but at least the error rate is below 38% (a critical Reserve Rate See http://andreswhy.blogspot.com "New Tools" )

This gives an optimal OutdoorRatePerWeek of about 19.88% .

About 17 hours of sunlight per week .

Optimal :

About 2.5 hours of visual exposure per day to sunlight will give you the best return on minimizing myopia . (for children , at least)

If dark glasses are used , they should ideally be darker towards the center and lighter to the periphery . The higher intensity light should be on the peripheral vision receptors .

Cheap and Nasty :

Dip your finger in a clear fat (preferably chickenfat) , but ghee or olive-oil will do . Trace three concentric circles around the center of the glass-lens .

The oily circle-lenses will sharpen focus on the peripheries .

A primitive Fresnel lens .

You can smudge the center of the lens slightly to reduce light intensity .

Note that long-term wearers of glasses always have oily finger-smudges around the rims . I used to think that this was laziness to clean , but now it seems it is an adaptive response to give better vision .Note that the whorls of fingerprints give micro-lens effects .In effect , miniature fresnel-lenses . Personalized , nogal .

An interesting effect:

If the lenses are clear , the person perceives a dizziness as the head is moved side-to-side . If the edges are smudged , this effect disappears . (I have just tried it , and it works)

The Rim-effect .

This brings us to the boundary effect of the edges of glasses . This is a discontinuity . Neural-networks are not good at discontinuities , especially varying ones like moving your head rapidly while wearing small glasses .The peripheral vision and the central vision does not match up , and the sensorium battles to keep up .

Hence the effects of smudged glasses .

A delicious example of stochastic resonance . Increasing randomness increases the quality of information .

We artificially smooth the quality of information around the rim and then rely on hardwired stochastic resonance effects to build a fairly reliable picture in the sensorium .

An obvious application would be in bi- or tri-focal lenses . Smudge the interfaces . Not a phasing of lightspeed , but a randomization (ie smudging) of information around the interface of the lenses . If it is built in , the eye will soon not display the smudge in the sensorium . But the effect will last .

Reversing myopia .

The elongation of the eyeball is a response to an environmental stimulus and should be reversible . Special glasses refocusing the peripheral vision should do the trick .

Glaucoma .

This should be monitored , especially if a quick and dirty method like smudging is used . The glasses should stay smudged . Cleaning them occasionally will lead to glaucoma as the system gets confused as to whether the eyeball should contract or not.

Tubular lenses .

It has long bothered me that the top predator on the planet has such a seemingly inefficient optical system as blood veins in front of the of the optical receptors , like in the human retina .

But it is more efficient in the peripheral view areas . The slightly out-of–focus image is focused by the tubular fluid blood vessel , which is transparent . The resultant data is assembled and stripped of extraneous data (like red-blood corpuscles) , then the resulting composite is more accurate . Note that this relies heavily on off-site computation in the visual brain . Why humans can use it .

Click .

The percussion compression effect of a Click from the mouth travels through the upper-palate to the eyeballs . The pulse is from underneath , and slightly lengthens the eyeball . Myopic individuals can perceive a slight increase in clarity (I have done it) . I would estimate it at about 5% . Not much , but noticeable . The neural networks do notice . The trick is to enhance it into a training regimen . More anon .

Itarin .

I will have to strip it down and rewrite it . It worked fairly well to postpone myopia by about 10 years . But it was built on the supposition that the fovea was the driver . Since the peripheral vision systems seems to be the driver , a rethink is in order .

Here's looking at you .

Sessile Women .

Sessile Women .

Andre Willers

5 Dec 2009

Synopsis :

Increasing head-sizes in babies is leading to a post-pubertal human female population unable to walk .

Discussion :

This is already happening . Compare pre-pubertal female running ability with post-pubertal locomotive capability . The growing bones in the pubic area is shifting the load-bearing pivots of the leg-joints so far apart that walking is becoming a pain .

Tractor-thighs and big behinds sneak into the gaps left by the expanding bone-structures .

Males find the wiggle attractive , since it signifies a wide enough opening for easy child-birth and higher child-survival rates . Ditto for surplus-storage .

The male sexual response is split between pre-pubertal or in-between forms and adult forms . One for fun and the other for children . Does this sound familiar ?

Extrapolate this further .

Females differentiate into three types :

1.Pre-pubertal motile form .

2.In-between . It takes time for the bones to widen . Semi-sessile . Or semi-motile , as you prefer . Presently about 6 years , but later probably about 10-12 years .

3.Adult female , sessile form . She cannot walk .The sessile form .

The social and psychological adaptations are fascinating . I use "are" deliberately , since these are already happening .

Civilization .

The teensy-weensy problem is that this sessility is only possible in a civilized society , where movement is not essential to survival . Sessile or semi-sessile women then have a vested interest in civilization (the status quo) . Since these are the mothers and grandmothers you can see why civilization and technology is so enduring.

Most technology is sessile . Metallurgy , bowayering , agriculture etc.

Cities .Writing .

Elderly human females running for their lives is not conducive to civilization .

Get married and settle down . With a vengeance .

Campo Flegrei Supervolcano.

Campo Flegrei Supervolcano.

Andre willers

2 Dec 2009

Synopsis :

An eruption is likely , especially given ill-advised human intervention .

Discussion:

Back we are with the Northern-Anatolian fault , and the 2004 9-Richter event ,

The super-volcano at Campo Flegrei can be described as a three-dimensional series of magma bubbles above a plume . The plume can be described as a resonant system around 30 degrees longitude .

See http://andreswhy.blogspot.com "Earthquakes and Volcanoes"

Note that Naples is exactly 90 degrees longitude from Southern Sumatra .

Naples is nearly exactly 15 degrees longitude from Istanbul .

The super-volcano at Campo Flegrei (near Naples)

This last erupted circa 39 000 YA . One of the factors that led to the isolation and eventual extinction of the Neanderthals . See http://andreswhy.blogspot.com "Death of the Neanderthals"

See NewScientist 7 Nov 2009 p18 " Piercing the heart of a fiery colossus"

Starting in Jan 2010 they will be drilling short , weakening holes in the pressure-containment vessels . But the squeezing effect of plate-movements caused by the really massive Sumatra-quakes in 2004 are still working through . Furthermore , the Nothern-Anatolian fault and the super-volcano at Campo Flegrei are linked . If one goes , the other one will go as well .

Think "Squeezing a pimple" . The plates are squeezing the magma-pockets . Any weakening of the pressure-containment will have major positive-feedback effects .

A really dumb idea , especially taking in consideration other deep-drilling experiments that had to be halted because experienced energy releases that exceeded predicted parameters . (Spin for "They did not know what they were doing , and it blew up .")

What to do ?

Most of the planetary and ecological damage is done by high-pressure spurts from the magma-chambers . Ripping them open with nuclear explosives to allow a magma flow instead of a spurt will save most of Europe . This need not be catastrophic .

Line-patterns of multiple 5 kiloton explosions should be sufficient for a small supervolcano like Campo Flegrei . Could even be done with TNT .

See Naples and die .
