Synopsis:
A fascinating meme-pair formation . This is a stable chaotic attractor , involving two elements . It has a large relevance to all human and inhuman interactions .
Discussion .
I watched the remake of Sherlock Holmes (a complete transplant set in circa 2010) yesterday . It was even more gripping than the original set in 1890's .
Why ?
It illustrates the major problem in any society .
Not everybody is equal in capability .
It being an interacting society , we need only to examine a two-person interaction . This a minimum necessary sufficient .
This particular case:
A sociopathic , high intelligence (Sherlock) forms a meme-pair with a high-moral , median intelligence (Watson) .
They complement each other . Both can survive better in combination than separately.
This strikes a chord with humans , hence the enduring Holmes franchise .
But it is more than that .
It helps to explain why sociopathy has not been weeded out by natural selection .
The Sidekick .
Every hero has a sidekick . Indeed , without the sidekick the hero would be hunted and killed as just another sociopathic threat .
They are also called disciples in a religious context .Or Mentorees in business.
What it is:
A mechanism for incorporating HyperSmart individuals into the body corporate by using multiple-meme pairing . Note Eastern Master-Pupil relationships or Western Mentor-Mentoree relationships .
Note that the Master/Mentor needs the relationship more than the pupils , otherwise they would excluded from societal benefits or even be hunted down actively .
Simply put .
Society will accept a smart-stupid pair where it would reject either on their own .
This goes back to Toba .
Meme structures which were set in place then .
Hypersmarts will run away with self-interest , while stupids cannot generate new wealth .
Sex:
It has very little to do with sex .
Meme-pairs are usually asexual (notice Sherlock-Watson) . Hypersmarts are not very interested in breeding competitors , hence their dearth .
Which are you ?
Most Stupids care about being seen as smart , while HyperSmarts don't care .
(Hypersmarts in this context have a limited context of IQ 200-300 . Maybe they will change their tune in relation to IQ levels way beyond 300 ?)

Synopsis:
Heatshock proteins have been experimentally shown to suppress DNA mutations (NewScientist) . A real effect . Mutations increment unexpressed until released by a trigger , when there is a saltation . Equally , previous DNA structures are suppressed until an environmental trigger releases them
Discussion :
This directly effects the whole evolution argument .
Small mutations (a-la-Darwin) can accumulate without being expressed in the organism . They are then released in burst (a saltation) .
Likewise , groups of gene adaptations can be suppressed , but retriggered by environmental changes .
All surviving organisms have historical gene baggage , much of which can be re-accessed by a species as the environment changes or at different stages of maturation .

So , a fever is the body's pasteurization process .
Works well with mammal-derived diseases , but bird-derived ones will do better with cooling .
Biltong and dry wors application :
These are raw meats with some internal preservatives , which are then dried .The surfaces have a high density of harmful bacteria .
Freeze them , them put the frozen sticks in an oven at 40 degrees centigrade for 20 minutes . The meat cannot cook , but the surface is pasteurized . This reduces bacterial load to tolerable levels the immune system in the gums and mouth can handle easily . Tested .(I do it with all biltong(jerky) and dried wors)
This is generally applicable .

The announcement in 2010 of the discovery of the female fossil of Ardipithecus Ramidus pushed back the human ancestral bipedalism to about 4.4 MYA .
Ardipithecus Ramidus was capable of tree-locomotion and bipedal ground locomotion
This has consequences .

Discussion:
1.Structure of the Foot:
Sideways splay of the big toe to grip branches .
But also the Os perineum , to enable a walking stride .
2.Structure of the hand :
The palms are short and flexible , allowing Ardi to walk on boughs using her palms .Not the knuckle-dragging used by chimps and gorillas .
3.These two elements enabled bipedalism to develop in trees .
Ardi gripped higher boughs with hands while walking on lower boughs .

4.Structure of the pelvis :
In the Ardi fossil , the pelvis bones had already broadened and shortened to a great degree to facilitate the muscle attachments of the gluteal muscles . This led to an easier evolutionary route for larger brain-sizes in babies .
5.Speech consequence:
Freeing the upper limbs around the thorax from locomotor duties has the unexpected consequence of freeing the breathing apparatus to be used for reliable communication.
Emphasis on reliable .
Speech and then language exploded .
6.Canine teeth decrease consequence :
Lovejoy et al argue that canine teeth (used in ritual combat between males for females) reduced in favor of contractual bonds (ie food) between males and females . It is difficult to see this happening without some sort of language

Surprisingly , we have some hard data .
1.Herto skull : 1450 CC True Homo Saps . Circa 200 000 Years ago .
H. Neanderthalensis : About the same cranial capacity . About the same vintage .
2.H. Floriensis : Small (about 1000 cc cranial capacity) , but survival data packed into external cultural storage . Dwarfism due to malnutrition , especially essential fatty acids (Omegas) . They were cut off from the sea .
3.H.Saps : about 1200-1300 CC . But remember that the extra to 200 cc is all neo-cortex . The effect is non-linear .
4. So why are we stupider than the original H.Saps ?
Survival .
The system was merrily on its way to a steady state of hyper-smart , super males when Toba happened . Co-operation suddenly became more important than competitition .
The Matriarchy deliberately fostered this , but left the epigenetic systems in .(I don’t think they knew how to zap them out ) .
I am forced to add in that they were aided by hyper-smart male elements . This necessitates Singularity creation .
Can this be possible with only 200cc of extra neo-cortex? I doubt it . Extra computational capability outside of the Local system has to be involved . Co-operation of some sort . So much for the SuperMan .
Brain size , intelligence and aggression were bred out . Some was restored during the agricultural revolution circa 10 000 years ago . Since 1700 AD , there has been some functional genetic restoration ( Aspergers, etc) as epigenetic factors kick in .
There is a threshold : today a hypersmart individual has to involve other humans . (Religion , laziness) . And they are only hypersmart relative to normals .
A calculation for the HyperSmart :
You have 3 data points . Calculate the minima , maxima and optima across 300 000 years in local time .

Human fingernails are intimately linked to rhythm and pattern recognition neural systems . It is also the third most important element in human sexual selection .

Hominid bipedalism evolved quite early .
Moropithecus (16 to 25 MY ago) showed adaptations to upright posture .
They walked on branches and clutched other breast-high branches for stability .

The branch is not only a mechanical support , but also transmits information . The branches are elastically resilient , so waves caused by any large organism walking and stalking about can be picked up by suitably sensitive sensors and the type of organism identified by a neural-network .
The canopy-network is an information-rich network because of it’s resilience . Similar type of signals can be carried by the ground (cf elephant feet ) , but the damping and bandwidth is totally different .
Small wonder that homonins have recreated the canopy in the Internet .
An Internet created by elephants or whales would look completely different .

The sensor-network is the pressure-receptors below the nail . The finger part in touch with branch is liable to tissue destruction , abrasion and calluses . Any sensors here are degraded by wear-and-tear .

Click ur-language died out because school was too long .
Discussion :
The fundamental problem :
Click is both a language (ie intra-human communication) and perception modality .
Perception Modality :
The sonar returns of clicks had a one-to-one correspondence with reality . But this took a long time to learn . Reality has many things to learn , plus the correlation between visual and click systems .
Low abstraction .
Abstraction is usually a function of intra-human communication , not human-reality interaction .
Low child rate .
This follows , because it simply took a long time to train a child to become "human" , ie pass the humanity tests .
The tests were to Communicate , survive on his own , put group interests above personal interests . These were tested for , using Click language . Rites of passage .
What happened :
The hidden assumption was that Intra-human communication and Reality perception were linked , both being Click–orientated .
The invention of sustainable agriculture (note sustainable , ie climate stabilization) broke this hidden assumption .
It made large populations possible . But long childhoods with personal tuition ?
Humans farmed off the newest children onto the oldest capable children to do the minimum necessary rearing .
Sounds familiar ? Iterate this for a few generations and you have peasants with surpluses . And we are off to the civilization races .

The fundamental problem :
Click is both a language (ie intra-human communication) and perception modality .
Perception Modality :
The sonar returns of clicks had a one-to-one correspondence with reality . But this took a long time to learn . Reality has many things to learn , plus the correlation between visual and click systems .
Low abstraction .
Abstraction is usually a function of intra-human communication , not human-reality interaction .
Low child rate .
This follows , because it simply took a long time to train a child to become "human" , ie pass the humanity tests .
The tests were to Communicate , survive on his own , put group interests above personal interests . These were tested for , using Click language . Rites of passage .
What happened :
The hidden assumption was that Intra-human communication and Reality perception were linked , both being Click–orientated .
The invention of sustainable agriculture (note sustainable , ie climate stabilization) broke this hidden assumption .
It made large populations possible . But long childhoods with personal tuition ?
Humans farmed off the newest children onto the oldest capable children to do the minimum necessary rearing .

An update : what is happening ?
Discussion :
I was horrified to learn from a cursory Google search that Kevlar materials were routinely used as material sleeves . The new bacteria thus had plentiful templates .
And here I thought it would take some time . Instead , bio-kevlar is already being created . This is going to have some major ramifications .
Global cooling :
A pulse of increased oxygen and decreased CO2 will result , as small organisms get armoured up faster than predators . This can already be seen in the decreased temperature of the GulfStream . Europe can expect some interesting weather .
The effect is non-linear . An awful lot of Kevlar-butterflies .
Expect more forest fires as O2 spools up .
Expect an ice age .
Remember , Kevlar is higher energy than calcium . The White Cliffs of Dover will become the Kevlar cliffs . (I do not know what color Kevlar biological deposits will be like : most probably grey )

An update : what is happening ?
Discussion :
I was horrified to learn from a cursory Google search that Kevlar materials were routinely used as material sleeves . The new bacteria thus had plentiful templates .
And here I thought it would take some time . Instead , bio-kevlar is already being created . This is going to have some major ramifications .
Global cooling :
A pulse of increased oxygen and decreased CO2 will result , as small organisms get armoured up faster than predators . This can already be seen in the decreased temperature of the GulfStream . Europe can expect some interesting weather .
The effect is non-linear . An awful lot of Kevlar-butterflies .
Expect more forest fires as O2 spools up .
Expect an ice age .
Remember , Kevlar is higher energy than calcium . The White Cliffs of Dover will become the Kevlar cliffs . (I do not know what color Kevlar biological deposits will be like : most probably grey )
And the deposit rates will reflect the heightened biological activity . Very fast .
Humans will be lucky to survive outside of the shore-ranges .
This has not happened before , so there is no DNA memory mediated by heat-shock proteins to fall back on .
The ass-holes who did this will typically try and correct it , making things worse .
This is happening as we speak .

Synopsis :
The synthesis of music with the abacus by Guido of Arezzo (circa 1010 AD) led to the Stave Musical notation . This opened up entire new ecologies of music composition and reproduction . Architecture and religious memes were severely affected .
Discussion :
1.History :
Without a musical notation , large groups of humans are limited to chorus effects or individual artistes . Complex coordination is not possible .
Examples are the Greek theatrical chorus , any chorus like work chantys , anthems ,etc .
This was the state of play around 753 AD , when Pippin of France and Pope Stephen II signed a "pacis foedera" at Pippin's Farm Palace near Ponthion in the Champagne . A mutual aid pact .
Included in this deal (probably much against his will ) was Simeon (of Greek or Syrian descent) , who was second in charge of the Roman Schola Cantorum .
(Nobody remembers the name of number one . The dangers of academic politics .)
The Gregorian Chant (Frank-Roman chant) rose from Simeon's teachings .
Fast forward to the early 11th Century AD .
The climate and civilization had improved . Populations exploded . Useless younger sons were sent off to the capital to get some polish and out of underfoot . Many of them ended up in the Choir , to the music-master's despair .
This person was Guido of Arezzo .
At first , he could only teach them by exposing them to all the thousands of tunes that had accumulated and requiring them to memorize them .
His students had no talent , lots of money and an aristocratic hauteur , but he had to deliver people who could sing in tolerable harmony . The usual academician's nightmare .
But many of them came from commercial backgrounds , and were intimately familiar with the Abacus . Some of them started using the positions of the counters on the abacus to represent tunes as an aide-memoire .
Guido gratefully seized on this . To give him his due , he never claimed that he invented the notation , only that it gave his students more time for " prayer , for the recitations of Psalms , for nocturnal vigils and other duties they can perform cum puritate" .("Epistola ad Michahelem" ) . Right .
It was a communal academic effort , and their academic master seems to have been a fairly nice guy in not grabbing all the glory for himself (as would happen today) .
The signature is that there is no fixed date . (Processes never have fixed dates , but glory-hounds always have.)
What happened then ?
His students spread all over Europe , returning to their roles as minor aristocracy , but still remembering having being part of something grand and world-changing . Symphonies and Orchestras flowed out of this . Also Cathedrals and Opera houses .
A tradition of Culture .
Still lasting to this day .
Not bad .

There was an insatiable demand for new tunes . These could be printed . The bread and butter of printing houses and composers . The underlying demand that made moveable-type printing profitable .
New Instruments :
This led to demand for new instruments like the clavier .
Cathedrals:
The explosion of cathedral building was a direct result of heavenly choirs in huge acoustic environments . The choirs were only possible because of the musical accompaniment . And this was only possible because they read the music .
But notice the role of the dirigent . Rieux , von Karajan and backward to Guido of Arezzo .

Culture with a vengeance .
The concept of Heaven :
Playing the harp in concert with the chorus .
I presume the electric-guitarist playing "Bad moon arising" must be a Protestant .

Synopsis :
The biological agent responsible for eating 80% of the spill seems as man-made as the original spill . The agent has to be biodegradable . Hence , fishing is going to be very good in the Gulf of Mexico for the next decade .

A last ditch plan involving the US Govt , BP , Venter and others who created an artificial organism that incorporated pre-oxygen molecular machinery ( archaeo-bacteria ), together with some newly designed ones .

The lack of oxygen depletion is a signature of human intervention .
The organism grows by replicating itself , using the oil , but very little use the of oxygen in the surrounding sea-water . (Think gun powder) . Hence the explosive growth (Probably a design requirement , given the low O2 concentration in seawater.)
But this means that the products of the organism (itself or it's excretions) are high energy . Since a bio-organism was used as a chassis , these are nearly certain to be usable by other organisms in the food-chain .
An explosion in the number organisms in the food chain can then be expected .
Really , really good fishing can be expected .
Safety :
As expected , this has been kept secret , since few of the safety protocols have been followed.
From a purely environmental viewpoint :
The organism (call it Vee) will persist , purely from evolutionary principles . If Vee can flourish in the wild , it will stay and evolve in the wild . Not a problem . Oil fields can be insulated . It will be spread by ships like any other contaminant
If archaeo-bacteria have been used as part of the gene-structure (as seems likely) , oxygenation should prevent most problems involving hydrocarbons in fishes and mammals . This has been going on for hundreds of millions of years .
This means that Vee would be handled like a normal infection .
Remember , this has happened before . Only , now it is faster . Predator species will switch on unknown genes .
Interesting times .

1.It has not been observed in other oil spills .
2.Extreme speed of propagation . Even if existing organisms switched on oil-eating genes , there are simply not enough of them in the clear waters of the Gulf of Mexico .

Long-term Safety .
This intervention seems to have gone down quite successfully .

A convenient point of departure . Lots of information processing gets done intra-neuron , but we have to start somewhere and the system is fractally-feedback , so progressive arguments can be applied to infra-neuronal level .
GrowthBursts and Apoptosis :
Neuronal bunches are quantized first by GrowthBursts , and then Apoptosis of elements not used . Nodes develop .
This results in things like the frog's eye and mirror networks .
From a network view , nodes with dense local connections and few long-range connections form .
The nature of the connections:

Why are the juveniles of one of the most successful multicellular species so susceptible to shock-death ?
Discussion :
During a recent visit to a crocodile farm , we were informed not to handle young crocodiles too heavily , as they die easily of shock . But this is one of the most heavily armoured and successful species that ever lived . They predate the dinosaurs .
What gives ?
Evolution and egg-laying :
Egg-laying species are very prolific . The problem is over-population on a river-sandbar , especially during droughts .
The amygdala :
An elegant solution to the problem .
Crocodile amygdala's in juveniles are large , enabling shock-death through various feedback processes . This is a Darwinnian learning process .
As they grow older , it decreases in size until an optimal programmed system is left that is shock-resistant .
The adult is a very formidable predator , with behaviour patterns optimized by excising individuals that made a mistake . It also has a ferocious immune system , that locks in juvenile mistakes .
This reptilian learning system was so successful that it transmitted to dinosaurs and mammals (their descendants)
Can it be reset ?
Crocs have the capability of growing the amydala by eating other crocs , small ones . This resets some of the amygdala's learning patterns and shrinkage .
Remember , it is a fluctuating pattern of good-times/bad-times on the riverbank .Big crocs that eat small crocs in an changing environment have an advantage if eating the small crocs in tough times enlarges the amygdala and enables new learning patterns to be laid down .

A teensy-weensy problem :
Potential energy has no mass .
Otherwise gravitational lensing would not be possible .
Every mass can have different potential energy depending on the observer .
This would smear the spectrum .

Thus , the potential complexification of a (ovum+sperm) might be described a potential energy , but it would have no mass . The mass would then evolve with the actual complexification .
And it would be quantal on order of Beth(0) , Beth(1) , Beth(2) , Beth(3) .
Beth(4) beings would be testing you .
The complexification is at least factorial .
The ratio in effects would be at least ( 2^((n+1)!) / 2^((n)!) ) ,where n=0,1,2,3

Superhuman(1) soul should weigh about (2^96)/21 = 3.7728 x 10^(27) gm . Very large .But measurable . Approaching singularity scales .

Superhuman(2) soul should weigh about (2^696)/21 gm which is more than mass of universe . Very , very large .But measurable . Passing singularity scales .
Testability :
1.Use spring scale , balance scale and gravitational interference from a laser array to measure mass of dog , chimp and human ova from moment of conception .
2.There should be discontinous mass-jumps as the fetus progresses through the stages.
3.Similarly , at death .
