Synopsis :
Maddened refugees from the European Black Death (circa 1348-1350 CE ) took desperate flight towards known refuges across the Atlantic (Vinland) . Some unfortunately made it within 38 days (about 4 miles per day) to riverine ports on the Mississppi and Amazon . (Most perished on hostile shores or seas : risks they would never have taken if not maddened ) .
The local populations and civilizations were then destroyed .
The Black Death was nearly 100% lethal in closely tied river civilizations .

About 1050 AD this really took off as discretionary income rose due to favourable climatic conditions and certain threshold population densities being passed .
The sports centers provided agglutinive cores .
Cf present roving Olympic Game sites .
The normal vicissitudes of overpopulation , environmental degradation , warfare ,etc followed . But nothing capable of stopping the civilization in its tracks . Remember , the Mississippi drained half a continent , arising from glaciers . There was always water . More steadfast than the Nile .
Then the Black Death refugees arrived , probably somewhere around St Louis .
Out of the hundreds that must have arrived , some were still biologically active .
The Black Death spread like wildfire (it's cousin , bubonic Plague , had crossed over from Asia with the first colonists and had hosts) .
The American Bottom became a death zone . By the time Columbus arrived , it was known as the Vacant Quarter . The locals shunned it , with good reason . For a long time , anybody who went in there died within 40 days .

The death rate would have been higher than Europe , since the centers were all connected via fast and easy riverways .
They were slowly recovering when the Spaniards arrived . Smallpox , measles , whooping cough , flu etc then completed the destruction .
Ironically , smallpox , which would have given some measure of protection against the Black Death (since they both compete for receptor site CCR5) , arrived too late .
(Though this might have happened to the Natchez by chance .)
Amazonia .
These were extensive riverine agricultural civilizations on the banks of Amazonian rivers .
These have been recently discovered and described .
All vanished circa 1350 – 1400 CE (ie pre-columbian)

Why did MesoAmerica escape ?
Most likely because there was no fast river transport .

Genetic:
The genetic structure of the Black Death in Europe has been sequenced .
Finding it in pre-Columbian corpses should be indicative . The same for bubonic plague in rat or other carriers in pre-Columbian carrier corpses .
Documents :
There might be written accounts mouldering away somewhere . The refugees would have been wealthy and literate . Most likely to have been found and brought back to Spain , and there promptly buried for political reasons . (The Black Death was an extremely touch subject in the 1400's and 1500's . The Vatican probably has copies .)
It is still touchy today , 500 years later .
The Spaniards would be absolved of most of the genocides , while the countries of origin of the Black Death refugees (Dutch , English , Irish , maybe some Swedish) could face class-actions claims in the World Court in the Hague .
The Natchez would stand a good chance of success , especially since they have deep enough pockets to fund such a process .
Not to mention the survivors of Amazonia , now savages in the jungle .
Rehabilitation would be a least requirement .
Substantial amounts of moral and monetary capital are involved .
Compensation for accidental or unintential death or injury is one of the bedrocks of any judicial system . The interesting point will be whether a civilization has a statute of limitations .

Earth is globed by a glittering shell of diamonds formed during the cooling phases of the planet about 3 to 1 billion years ago . A few of these survive transportation to the surface during some cool volcanic , tectonic and impact events .

A planet without a diamond necklace would not have enough carbon to give rise to a carboniferous life .

2.Neutrino Signature :
Large concentrations of diamonds have a distinct neutrino shadow (due to multiple refraction and absorption) .
Sufficient masses of diamonds in a semi-liquid matrix self-assemble into meta-materials to more efficiently absorb neutrinos . Cold volcanos result .
For the proof of this :
Either you see it , or else it will be a bit of a slog .
Remember , the surrounding semi-molten rock is transparent to neutrinos .
A lot of energy is absorbed by the diamond metamaterial . This plays a major part in the planetary energy balance .
This has obvious significance to detection of extra-solar planets capable of bearing carbon-based life .
Venus indicates too much energy can be transferred , leading to mantle-eruptions that paved the planet . The carbon went into CO2 in the atmosphere . Not that many diamonds left on Venus .

Are there undiscovered diamond deposits in South Africa ?
Yes .
The Vredefort impact created numerous near-contiguous fractures. The gave way under pressure to cool volcano's with very rapid exit velocities (ie the diamonds scooped up from the mantle did not have time to burn up . ) These weathered and water washed the diamonds away to be concentrated in places like Alexander bay .
This took a fairly long time . Rivers formed , vanished , reformed and the land twisted
To the West , many deposits have been found . Kimberley , etc
To the East , few .if any .
Algorithm :
Draw a circle around Vredefort with radius at Kimberley . You will notice it encompasses most of the gold and platinum bearing areas towards all areas except East and South-East . This is because these areas got squinched up in subsequent tectonic movements . Nobody can un-squinch them , but we can say meaningful things on a macroscopic scale . Because the time-scale is relatively large , we can use

Doubtful . Diamonds probably did form in Earth(0) before the impact event that resulted in Luna , but the impact temperatures probably cooked any diamonds .
But , some might have survived in pockets of Earth(0) ejecta in Trojan orbits . There is a distinct probability (+-15%) that large diamonds can be found in Earth-Lunar Trojans .
Re-entry diamonds with datable pyrodone garnet inclusions would then give formation dates before the Luna-forming impact . Has any been found ?
Unknown . On human form results like these have probably been swept under the carpet .
So , Gaia might have diamond earrings . These should be even easier to detect from really far away using neutrino shadowing .
Simply put , a planet with lots of carbon and a big moon can be detected from very far away .
So much for Ceti . Anyone interested already knows what is here , and has done so for millions of years .

Shampoos are as old as fire .
Humans had a major problem getting rid of the smell of wood-smoke . Not only does this mark them as preferred prey to the Leopards , but it also spooks potential prey . (they used actively in the cursorial raptor stage , But it had a limited ceiling .)
Compound Combs .

Their technology was not up to making comb-teeth fine enough and strong enough to scrape off lice-nits and smell-bearing lipids . But they could slot different combs together to form very fine slits .
A compound comb . Look for grooves , studs ,slots ,etc in surviving combs .
Neolithic Shampoo :
Before general usage of clothes (circa 70 000 BCE : post Toba) , there was not heavy selection against body-hair . Body-lice and hair-lice had not yet differentiated .
The Method :
The compound comb was dipped in an alkaline ash or ash-paste , combed over the body , then the body is rinsed . Two or three times would have removed most nits , parasites and woodsmoke smell .
The de-fatted hairs can then be "moisturized" by the lipid of the prey-du-jour .
With the general usage of clothes , body-lice promptly split with the development of night-clothes (ie pajamas) . Yes , they are this old .
It is much less hassle to entrap the woodsmoke-smell in a special set of essentially cheap clothes , then venture forth after doing the comb-and-washing thing to the exposed head-hair . Laundry started . (It is even cheaper to wash the pajamas) .

They did not use soaps . Strigils , compound combs , oils and lots of water and slave labour sufficed . This process also scraped all body hair off . Hence all those old statues with no body hair . Right there in the cellars of the museums . Nobody has looked or wondered why .
China .
Shampoo came to the West from India , who got it from China .
But , as is seen , it is very old . Only the recipes differ .
The hairstyles :anything you can imagine , then some .
Hot Showers :
These are now ubiquitous amongst privileged classes .
With compound combs and showers (ie frequent rinsing and scraping) , shampoos are unnecessary .
As usual , humans have gone overboard with the shampoo bit . Most commercial shampoos have evolved to require daily use . They destroy the natural fats of scalp and hair , then partially and expensively restore them . (Just Google the junk in shampoos .)
Just combing hair under a shower using at least three different slit-differences (the last being very fine) should give a natural grooming effect .
(This will not be popular amongst pharma's . But why can't they make combs with built-in chemicals and slits (like some razors) ?
It is an opportunity , not a threat .Every human on the planet uses a comb daily .)
I await the Intralipid Comb with anticipation .

Humans had a major problem getting rid of the smell of wood-smoke . Not only does this mark them as preferred prey to the Leopards , but it also spooks potential prey . (they used actively in the cursorial raptor stage , But it had a limited ceiling .)

Before general usage of clothes (circa 70 000 BCE : post Toba) , there was not heavy selection against body-hair . Body-lice and hair-lice had not yet differentiated .
The Method :

These are now ubiquitous amongst privileged classes .
With compound combs and showers (ie frequent rinsing and scraping) , shampoos are unnecessary .
As usual , humans have gone overboard with the shampoo bit . Most commercial shampoos have evolved to require daily use . They destroy the natural fats of scalp and hair , then partially and expensively restore them . (Just Google the junk in shampoos .)
Just combing hair under a shower using at least three different slit-differences (the last being very fine) should give a natural grooming effect .
(This will not be popular amongst pharma's . But why can't they make combs with built-in chemicals and slits (like some razors) ?
It is an opportunity , not a threat .Every human on the planet uses a comb daily .)

Humans create structures (laws , civilization , culture , art , etc) that flow from their own nature . These are by definition and genesis Anthropomorphic .
But these structures are then modified by procedures outside normal human terms : like logic , mathematics , computer algorithms , formal laws , formal elective procedures , etc .
These changed structures feed back into humans , changing human nature , from their plastic cradle . Children are very susceptible .
This is known as Inverse-Anthropomorphism .

Synopsis :
Cellular meta-control mechanisms (Phenes) situated on the cell- and nucleus wall are expanded on in more depth .
Discussion :
The article "The Inner life of the Genome" by Tom Miseli in the Feb 2011 Scientific American (p46) pulled together a number threads previously discussed in this blog .
Briefly , he found that DNA is organized in the following physical arrangements in a working cell-nucleus :
DNA -> Wound around Histone Spools -> Histone Spools fold to form Chromatin strings -> Heterochromatin strings (a very tightly folded Chromatin strings) (see para 6 below)
Heterochromatin is so tightly wound that the DNA is inaccessible to transcription factors (ie inert , switched off) . They are found mostly near the nucleus wall . The Chromatin strings form delineated tangles , with preferred positions in the nucleus space .
Near the center are volumes called Transcription factories .
This is where the rubber hits the tar .
Volumes rich in aggregations of cellular components , polymerase enzymes and transcription factors . How did they get there ? See point 4 below about Chaperones and Self-organization .
Genes on the outer Heterochromatin string , on activation from the Phene system , unwinds to make the DNA accessible . The chromatin string simultaneously also migrates inward to a transcription factory (presumably triggered by the phene signal) and gets expressed .
This has been described as the Histone Code forming the epigenetic system
From evolutionary considerations , meta-control systems on cell-level and nucleus level are taken to be related .
Not only are they descended from the same ur-mechanisms , but if they were not related , that would add another expensive translation layer between cell-wall and nucleus-wall , with concomitant chances of error .
Evolutionary pressures would have elided any such mutation .
(Sounds logical , but is it true ? I suspect it is usually true , but exceptions will be found .
The perversity of animate matter exceeds that of inanimate matter by orders of magnitude)
The Histone System can then be seen as an important subset of the Epigenetic System
But the epigenetic system can have signals that are not relevant to cells .

How does it know where to go ?

So , one envisages a mixture of chaperones(2/3) and self-organization (1/3) (http://andreswhy.blogspot.com "NewTools reserves" Nov 2008 . Error arguments.)
5; Chromosome abnormalities (like cancer) . Without a chaperone the dangling loop is vulnerable to breaking and then joining up with an unsuitable partner . Like in any bad marriage , the children suffer .
6.Stem Cells :
The above description is for a mature , functioning differentiated cell .
Things are different just before and after divisions .
In Embryonic stem-cells , there are no Heterochromatin strings .
All the genes are active , but the shebang is not very robust .
On receiving a phene-signal to differentiate the cell , lamin proteins are formed and fold Chromatin strings -> Heterochromatin strings and also tether them to the nucleus wall . The nucleus becomes much more robust .
Lamin proteins can then be classified as chaperones .
But notice how easily nearly any cell can be turned back into a pluripotent cell .
The body does this all the time (lately , stem cells have been created out of cells found in urine .This is very unlikely for a storage mechanism .)

The lamins are thriftily reprocessed during mitosis . This means there is an programmed biological pathway to reverse differentiation (ie create stem cells) . Which why stem cells are so easily created .

Synopsis :
Cellular meta-control mechanisms (Phenes) situated on the cell- and nucleus wall are expanded on in more depth .

The article "The Inner life of the Genome" by Tom Miseli in the Feb 2011 Scientific American (p46) pulled together a number threads previously discussed in this blog .
Briefly , he found that DNA is organized in the following physical arrangements in a working cell-nucleus :
DNA -> Wound around Histone Spools -> Histone Spools fold to form Chromatin strings -> Heterochromatin strings (a very tightly folded Chromatin strings) (see para 6 below)
Heterochromatin is so tightly wound that the DNA is inaccessible to transcription factors (ie inert , switched off) . They are found mostly near the nucleus wall . The Chromatin strings form delineated tangles , with preferred positions in the nucleus space .
Near the center are volumes called Transcription factories .
This is where the rubber hits the tar .
Volumes rich in aggregations of cellular components , polymerase enzymes and transcription factors . How did they get there ? See point 4 below about Chaperones and Self-organization .
Genes on the outer Heterochromatin string , on activation from the Phene system , unwinds to make the DNA accessible . The chromatin string simultaneously also migrates inward to a transcription factory (presumably triggered by the phene signal) and gets expressed .

Singularities.

A Singularity is defined as a one-way information flow .
Information is the Ultimate Singularity . It can be created , but not destroyed .
Four basic classes of Singularities are adduced .

This follows directly from (A plus ~A < Universum) . There is always a possibility of such a Universe , since we can think of it . The Universum is just much larger than we can conceive .

1.Class A Singularities .
(A for Attractor) .
A delineated system can be described as having an attractor at a center , with an attraction force inversely proportional to the distance of elements from the center .
Two main sub-classes spring to mind :
1.1Class AB Singularities .
(AB for Attractor Black Hole)
The well-known physical model in a Relativistic Space-Time .
The attraction force is gravity/spacetime curvature , which is mostly proportional to the inverse square of whatever metric is being employed . This can get "rococo"on small or very large scale : see below .
Over certain thresholds of matter concentration and conglomeration , a black hole forms . This consists of an inner Singularity (from which no information can escape ) and a surrounding event-horizen , from which no light can escape .
If that Universe has a Planck-length and Planck-time
Quantum fluctuations are possible .
Information (about mass , curvature and age ) can still escape from the event-horizon via Hawking radiation. Typically , no (or very few) mini-blackholes would then be observed . Their evaporation would stimulate and leave room for particle formation /
Spacetime curvature would be positive .
Putatively our Native Universe .
Else If that Universe has NOT either Planck-length and Planck-time
No quantum fluctuations . Hence no Hawking radiation . Particles won't form , as their place would be usurped by mini-black holes .

I can intuit that a transform can be mapped , but I am too stupid to do it .

The key is glycerin . A molecule plant-soya protein that predisposes subsequent egg-proteins and plant-oil fats to linkages that forms a pocket .
Intralipid sequesters vitamin K , and renders it inert inside a lipid capsule .
The immune system cannot get at the triggers .

Wristwatches are being superseded by cellphones for electronic time .
Major epidemic effects of various flu's become less likely !
Cellphones are more powerful in disease prevention than straps by an estimated factor of five .

What is going on ?
Younger generations see no need to duplicate expense by having both a watch purely for time and a cellphone . The cellphone has higher priority .
But they keep it in their sweaty little hands , and dislike lending it out .
Infectious agents lurking in the crevices of the keys and on the surface of the cellphone reinfect the hands directly and immediately even after washing the hands .
This is beneficial , unless the person is in some pesthole . In which case , the phone should be incinerated . It cannot be disinfected without destroying it .
The reinfection is specific to the individual , because of the reluctance to let other persons use it .
Prophylactic measures :
In case of an epidemic , spray cellphones with the vaccine or incinerate it .

Chaotic manufacture springs to mind . But I can find nothing on the internet .
If commercial micro-manufacture has surpassed electronic manufacture , we are indeed in for interesting times .

It is also prevalent in the Religious , Medical and Scientific communities . The Modern Priesthoods .
Hypergraphia is an attempt to change general perceptions by yakkiting a lot . Usually not successful . Chinggis Khan used hypographia and HyperUnderstanding to great effect . (Talk softly and carry a big stick ) . But it did not last .

Space-time curvature , randomness and frame dragging cause asymmetric Hawking radiation , spinning up the black hole . Over a certain boundary , catastrophic Limacon collapse occurs . Pulsed evaporation of the black hole or spin-off of mini-blackholes occurs . There can be subsequent fractal repetition .

A non-spinning large mass with infalling masses . Tidal effects ionizes infalling masses . Standing waves (especially electric fields) form around the central mass .

Synopsis:
Civilization is described as a reliable prescription of human behaviour .This can only be obtained by putting boundaries on humans from the outside . Ie walls.
Young civilizations , before human nature exerts itself , controls itself .
But humans quickly ruin this .
Discussion :
There are good reasons for this . The main long-term one is that non-walled systems do not generate sufficient discretionary surplus wealth to enable the equivalent of Universities : Long-term storage of skills and knowledge . The people can also skedaddle .But Civilization is created by the ones that have to remain . Bound by their walls .
Chinese Walls :
"The Great Wall" by John Man described this well .The Chinese word for wall and city is the same . They see something like the Great Wall of China as an Arcology . An extended city . Hence their willingness to embark on huge arcologies like the nuclear bomb-shelters under Beijing (of doubtful use) or the latest craze , underground trafficways to relieve congestion . The Hysterical Focus Strikes again !
Basically , the Chinese do not consider anybody without a wall as civilized , because they cannot be trusted .
Europeans have the same attitude , for the same reason .
Sad history .
The USA does not have this history , and is thus regarded as an "Enfant terrible" .
Also not regarded as civilized .
This is easily remedified , since this effect is completely unconscious .
Just build some faux walls around some major cities ,
Las Vegas has already done this .
Simply connecting up existing earthworks on a map and on the Internet will be sufficient to convince a large number of Far East and Middle East inhabitants to see the Americans as Civilized .
US military outposts in Iraq or Afghanistan might benefit from faux walls outside the real fortifications .
It is not a conscious response . I hate to use the word Epigenetic in this context , but epigenetic memes is a strong possibility . Once again , it is not conscious .
Historical examples :
"The Great Wall" by John Man described this well . Faux walls in Mongolia stretching for thousands of kilometers . Convincing Chinese that the Mongols are their friends . It worked for hundreds of years .
The same thing happened in Europe .
Anybody outside the city-walls was a peasant , and treated accordingly . If they put up even minuscule walls , they switched categories to a threat and was crushed or got a treaty .
Africa the same .
Mugabe gets exaggerated deference because of the Zimbabwe and Makgadigadi ruins denoting walls .
Australia :
I do not know of any , but I predict earthwork ramparts hundreds of kilometers in length in North-Western territories .Hardly visible by now . Watch at dawn or sunset .

Not to put too fine a point on it , large wind-farms on the north-western coast of Germany and Denmark decreased the wind-speed and energy density of the exiting wind-streams so that the normal roiling of the jet-stream did not take place . This throws hundreds of suggested friends at me . All look vaguely similar .
All handsome .
What is going on ?
I have to conclude that there are no Ugly Ones .
Discussion :
1.Data mining :
Facebook datamining hits on blogs .
My blog http://andreswhy.blogspot.com at present has about 400 hits per month , mainly from the USA , Netherlands , Germany , Brazil , Russia , RSA .
I have no time or interest to trawl through all the availabilities .
So I get all these .
2.People only show their most attractive features .
The bikini effect .
3.With enough communication , the subset "Ugly" becomes very small .
"Ugly" is a description of number of sigmas difference from the norm .
People at the same sigma number usually find each other attractive .
Or they make themselves attractive . They are not robots.
4.Facebook is not only breaking the 150 person ceiling , but also the "Ugly" ceiling .
Redefining attractiveness and beauty . Ref Nietsche.
5. This is happening as we speak .It has not yet percolated through to the Nomenklatura of Fashion .
6.Fashion will fracture .
The center cannot hold .
This has major implications as genetic engineering becomes widespread . There is no widespread fashionable definition of beauty for the genome .Most of the present definitions of genomic beauty are derived from reproductive functionality (ie female hips and breasts , male torso's ) .

I tried the shotgun approach of
1.Smoking , drinking (temp>107 , dehydration)
2.Steaming (temp>107)
3.Bitters (Angosturas bitters in the steaming)
4.Usual MSM
5.Antibiotics for residual effects .
6.Chicken fat .
Results
Symptoms showed rapid decrease after two days , then slower . 95% relief after 3 days . Much faster than normal . Bronchial symptoms mostly absent .
It seems that the temperature and bitter regimes prevented bronchial build-up .
I was concerned that the bitter chemicals activating the bitter receptors in the lungs might lead to overstimulation and subsequent emphysema . But keeping things on an infrequent basis should be healthy , on the old use-it-or-lose-it principle .
Purging would be better .
Ten inhalations from bitter steam .
Then ten inhalations from a different bowl of steam without bitters .
Should put the bounce back into the old alveoli , what !

I can intuit that the metamaterial processes used in nanometer optical/matter processes can be replicated in ordinary materials . Silver seems to be a candidate . But the maths of twistors and tightly-bound chaotic interfaces needs a bit of work .
But it can be done . Has been done . Only not very reliably .

Why did a really expensive system like homeostasis evolve ?
An arms race between bacteria and multicellular organisms seems to be the answer .

Evolutionary argument :
Multicellular organisms evolved higher temperatures to gain an advantage .
Cross-checking and mass gives an multicellular organism an advantage over a unicellular organism .
Present state of play :
